ive been messing around with FPSC for a little while now with custom and stock media that both ive made or ive found on the forum and i though id just put some screenshots on here to show people some of the outside environments id made and may use in my current game project untitled.
wouldnt mind some feedback on how to improve or just if people like what ive done so far

screen1

if the frame rate looks low its not as bad as it appears, for some reason the frame rate appears low for me in the level test however it runs a lot smoother than that and i think it may just be a glitch or something

not exactly of the same quality, but when you think of magnificent jungle and outdoor environments in an fps game, you think of far cry, and i know that it will never be possible in FPSC to match it but you might as well try lol

yeah i have a problem though, when i apply full lightmapping and such i get serious lag problems or texture problems, however when i play games other people have made with full grid levels, lots of entities, full lightmapping etc, it runs perfectly
could it be the version of FPSC im running?

What version do you have? Lightmapping is improved in v1.04.

Then the lightmapping sucks, because 1.04 has DarkLights or whatever the name is. And DarkLights replaced the old FPSC lightmapping which will result in higher FPS rate and better results in graphix

Remember to bakc-up your V1 projects,as V1.04 has a new .fpm type wich V1 doesnt support.

Haha nice. Sounds cool.

Question: Did you make the image in your signature? Also, what is that "HGS" word to the right of the image in the grass?

It looks good! If anything, just change what it says instead of completely redo it. I like the glow on the word "Survivor".

Butters: I tried the link and nothing came up (404 not found).

Cherd: Just noticed the hand retexture.

Edit: Never mind. For some reason Firefox didn't open up the screenshots.

Wow butters thats really nice lol i like it, ive got some plants and stuff to put in yet, i was just tampering with the idea of a jungle island area.

Is that a wide open area or is it linear?

also did you make the cliff segments? because i made some myself only they dont look anywhere near as good as that, mine are too flat as you can see in the first screenshot and too detailed so it looks repetitive

ive actually just made a new cliff segment, still flat but looks better than that last one i was using, and also i find if i use the boulder entity around the bottom it looks much better, and also is good for climbing up it.

The weapon may be familiar to you butters, i retextured it, hope you dont mind, thats not part of the level, i just wanted to test the segment out

Looks good. Maybe you can put an invisible wall entity near the cliff with a ladder script so you can climb it.

well i could just make the cliff segment and entity and use the ladder script. Or is that what you meant?

Im happy with the idea of using the boulders to climb though, because that way i can be more selective about where people can climb and in a game it will make a slight challenge if people have to work out their own way up the cliff

@Cherd, are you managing to walk well on the terrain I see in your screenies? Most of us have had problems with non-flat terrains (either getting stuck at places or having to jump even over minuscle heights)
If yes, could you let me know how you managed to make them well?

Lol actually its not a non flat whole terrain, its individual hills and a grass floor segment. Some of the hills were places partially below the layer so they stick out in the water lool, but they are fine to walk on.

THe only problem i have is enemies just going straight through the hills

I mis-interpreted your problem actually, yes occasionally on a steep sided hill i will have to duck to get further up but unless its really steep it isnt a problem
