I think it looks pretty cool. I never followed the comics, so this is all new to me.

spidey used to have a great sense of humour in the comics, the current movies depicts spidey as a slightly emotional character with a funny bone bypass.

Do you like any movies Jeku? I thought spiderman 3 looks better than the last two from the preview I saw in theaters.

Hmm, that video clip makes the movie look like crap. Lame effects.

Spiderman hardly has any humorous, cheezy 1-liners in the movies, unlike it was in the comics. Thats part of what makes the character and its missing.

I thought the battle with harry did look a little lame. But still I'll go see it.

Spiderman 1 and 2, in my opinion, were extraordinarily cheesy. Long flowery monologues, lofty ideals, thinly developed characters. It pales in comparison to X-Men in terms of story development and depth.

In #2 I loved Dr. Octavius. He was an awesome villain. The final fight was epic. However, as a dramatic movie, I hated it. Certainly worth seeing, but left me feeling a bit unsatisfied.

#3 looks like it has some incredible effects and battles. Absolutely stunning. I'll get my money's worth for those. However, it doesn't even look like it makes sense. We know who killed Uncle Ben, now they've changed that and turned him into a super supervillain just because it's interesting. Okay. Then they added black Spiderman. Okay. I am dying to see how they integrate that. From the preview it looked like a bad dream turned real, except the bad dream was real and had a killer sense of style.

So, it looks cheesy but awesome to behold. I'll like it, but won't love it by any stretch of the imagination. They hired the right fight choreographers and effects people, but the wrong writers. Spiderman and Superman both needed what "Batman Begins" got - a total rework to bring it into the 21st century. The SM stories are too old to work now as they once did.

Look at X-Men. They ditched all the stupid costumes for black and cool and understated. Wolverine wearing bright yellow? Hah. Batman got updated. Spiderman and Superman are stuck in the mud.

Come see the WIP!

I thought X-men 3 completely ruined the comics. (but halle berry's character ruined the movies) In the first movie though, they make a joke about wearing yellow spandex. A little humor for the comic readers in the audience.

eerm, its not black spiderman, its venom. venom is a symbiot that takes spiderman as a host, its not like the comics however, but it is similar to the cartoons.

and if anyone were to ever change he appearance of spiderman or superman they'd of instantly ruined themselves. the batman costume was very VERY similar to the comic/cartoon ones, and the X-men have the fortune of being able to change their costumes without ruining the characters. its the costume that defines a hero, and that costume definatly screams spiderman to me!

too bad its not like the comics, I would love to see the Secret Wars happen, those battles would be incredible.

Spideys sense of humor came and went with the writer and story arc. During the 70's Spidey was full of one liners mid 80's more serious. Having read and collected them all (Amazing, Spectacular, Web of and Spidey) from issue 1 to when they killed the numbering system with heroes reborn/return, I have to say the movies have stayed pretty true to Pete/Spidey in terms of Angst/ Love of MJ/ Social Awkwardness etc. SOmehow however I don't see the Kingpin and JJJ footing the bill for the wedding in the movies.

Yes, but not many of the comic movies--- your point? Looks to me like many of you agree with me that this looks lame

First two were okay, I never read the comics, they were before my time (or maybe not my style, or both ). Batman Begins was awesome though, one of my favorite movies . Who cares if BB followed the comics or whatever, it was good by itself.
