Bah, another SUBSCRIPTION BASED MMORPG as well! I don't want to have to spend £80+ a year on top of the cost of the actual media just to play a game. If this game followed the likes of Guild Wars, offering a one off fee for unlimited play, I'd definitely buy it.

I have been playing the Beta for awhile, in fact I was offered a position as a QA for the project (turbine is about 30 minutes away) however they wanted me to start the next day and those poor clods are working insane hours (on occasion 18) and have had basically no days off since Christmas. Just could not rearrange my life so fast and it would have seriously messed up school.

The game is good, but that's it good, I do not see how they plan to draw people from the WoW world to this game as other than the familiar world they game is far from original.

I downloaded the beta, and it wasn't fantastic. For one it was very laggy in parts on my computer in areas that shouldn't have been laggy at all. It seemed to slow down a lot when there were many players in one area, so perhaps its my internet. It also didn't feel very much like Lord of the Rings to me, it might as well have been a Chronicles of Narnia game and I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference.

That's not as bad as you think you said.

I could never, ever, justify a subscription based game that was more than a couple of euros/month. So, when I eventually lose my mind ang get a MMORPG it will have to be Guildwars, although WoW looks much better from what I see/read/hear.

I have vague plans for World Domination

@ionstream: I have no lag issues on my computer. I think that your computer performances are maybe smaller than mine... I've noticed that the game uses shaders for many objects in the map. For example, snow on the ground uses shaders, water use shaders... it can also lead to slowdowns ...

I actually play the free open beta version and I found it interesting. The game is understandable for a french guy like me :p in its english version Environment is really nice regarding to many other MMORPG ...

A good thing about turbine is that additional content (new modules) are released all the time and have no additional charges. So yes you are paying for a subscription, but basically getting an expansion every month.

yes, the principle of the subscription, is that is pay the upgrades, improvements, and servers ... it's a "normal" thing :p

I'm sure it is, if you have enough game time to "soak up" all the new content. A friend of mine plays some 4 hours of WoW a day, so he certainly gets his 13 euros out of it.

I've got such a short attention span that I get bored very easily, so my playing would dwindle down to nothing in no time so new content would be wasted on me. And it annoys me not being able to pay for what I have already paid full price for...

I have vague plans for World Domination
