I know this is a bit late, but are there any Battlestar Galactica fans that are also mad about how we have to wait until 2008 for the next season?

i can see now everyone is going to forget about it, then they will start playing the previous seasons over and over more and more, and everyone will be like...O YEA!

From interviews I saw it looks like the delay may be because they plan to move Galactica from Sci-Fi to NBC next year. Think they will likely use the time to start reruns to build a network base before launch of the new season.

If they are moving it to NBC, that means that the show is definitely not going to die any time soon. I was afraid when they changed times to 11:00 that the show was done for. But it was the most watched show on TV or something...

The end of season 3 was ........well, i really don't have words to describe the mixed emotions, but it sure made me poop my pants.

I bought the DVD's of Season 1 and 2. watched trough them several times, never get bored of it. I really like the attention of detail in the show. I can rewatch the very early episodes and find referenses to stuff mentioned much later.

I knew Starbuck wasn't dead.

Fortunately, I never did see Season 1 yet; might help give me my fix waiting for the final season.

So.....how about a discussion about who the final 5 are?

So far we know that the President's Assistant, the Chief, the XO, and Starbuck's ex(ish)-husband is. Who's the fifth? I suspect it may be Starbuck herself. But break it down by everyone's position/job:

Look at the diversity:

- The President's Assistant, is nearly the highest position (privy to classified info) in the civilian leadership.

- The Chief is head of the lower enlisted crowd (and the civilian blue collars).

- The XO (Colonel) is second in the Military High Command.

- Starbuck's Ex seems to be up there in rank and acclaim for the ground-pounders.

That leaves Starbuck as second in the Fly Boys category. I had thought briefly that it may be the Admiral himself, or the President. But I'm thinking Starbuck's the winner here. I'm not sure if she actually died though.

Thoughts?

-Keith

Anyone remember Leonin or whatever the cylon's name is whispering "Adama's a cylon" into the president's ear just before he was thrown out the airlock? Also, I'm wondering about one thing, how can Tye be a cylon when he pretty much outdates the cylons, and fought in the 1st cylon war?

I'm thinking Starbuck is human and was picked up by whatsisface just before her ship exploded. Probably a stealth Cylon ship methinks. Would be too obvious now to make her the final Cylon. Who wants the original Starbuck (Face) to make an appearance? I mean Apollo is already there.

My original thoughts in the first series were that *everyone* is a Cylon. Nothing has happened to destroy that idea for me either. Yes there are the 5 final Cylons, they think, but would be a massive twist if all the humans were killed off (perhaps even in the 1st Cylon war) and all this is just an experiment to evolve Cylons. Think about it; all the religion, dreams, fortune tellers etc can be explained away easily if they were all Cylons. Just none of them know (including the Cylon Cylons if you see what I mean...) the experiment is going on. The head**** Cylons would then be watching from afar, like Gods, and putting all these things into motion. Nice eh?

Theory aside, I'll guess the final Cylon isn't one of the obvious ones (Admiral, President (who is at least half Cylon after the blood infusion and probably is why she dreams), Apollo etc), and go for say Hero (or Helo or whatever else his name may be). That makes his kid fully Cylon. They cannot reproduce together so perhaps this is the miracle they wanted (ie. they have to love like a human). Talking of which that makes the Chief's baby half Cylon too (like whatserface) so should be interesting.

Out of interest, what was going on with the song? Started out like some sort of Cylon song running through the ship then turns into the old classic "All along the watchtower". They even speak the words of the song (into the mirrors) and one says it reminds him of childhood. Eh? Either they really loved the song or perhaps a "memory" of Earth? Strange either way.

Oh, and the storyline of human Baltar talking to godlike invisible cylon bird, and cylon bird talking to godlike human Baltar is going someplace. Probably in a religious angle. eg. The way the Gods talk to humans and Cylons in the same way. Hope they don't over do it. If Baltar comes along with big stones or parts any seas then I'm turning off... Send him back to Blighty basically. Along with Apollo (look it up).

Cheers

Perhaps they can look like dead people. This is what I assumed originally. So Tye was human then got replaced after he actually died at some point. Perhaps in the war. Or maybe they have had skinjobs for years and just never used them in the 1st war for some reason (sneaky gits).

Well, the cylons were created by man, it was the 1st war that drove them away to find their own planet. I don't think everybody is a cylon, it'd be too much of a contradiction, both between detecting cylons by Balthar earlier in the season, and the general killing. Helo being a cylon would be interesting, but I don't think it's likely.
Dirk Benedict is never going to be in it, he strongly disagreed with making a new series and has been slating it ever since. Ah well...

Ah yes, but the detecting thing could just be something that the Godlike Cylons (not the final 5, but somewhere totally different that only exists in my idea...) put into things to make it interesting. Might have missed something here, but how come they never went back to the test? Is it because they just totally don't trust Baltar?

Shame about Face. He was class... Hmmm. Apparently they are making a new A-Team movie. Wouldn't it be class if the bird who plays Starbuck played Face? Could also have her looking questionly as a Cylon walks past.

Cheers

I think the reason they don't trust the test is cos Balthar gave Boomer the all-clear before she shot Adama, even though he detected she was a cylon.

Edit: spoiler alert!

As for my theory on what happened to starbuck. That heavy raider (probably commandered personally by leoben) could actually be the real thing, he could have launched his viper decoy and picked up starbuck.

OR she died and respawned, mostly saying it itself that she's a cylon or atleast a "modified/uber" human.

OR she died for real and that starbuck appearing in the end of season 3 is a fake by the cylons to lead the fleet away from earth.

.....OR Apollo is the one seeing hallucinations now.

All interesting theories, don't know which one to go for though.

Also, anyone know why Felix lied in court? What did balthar whisper to felix that made him so angry?

He might have told Felix that he'd take him down with him.

I agree with Kentaree. How could Tye be a cylon?

And Starbuck would have to be a cylon, because her Viper exploded. If she isn't a cylon, my votes are Lee or Adama.

Can't remember anyone on the show saying they couldn't copy a dead human. So could have replaced him at any time with false memories (like Blade Runner).

Quote: "And Starbuck would have to be a cylon, because her Viper exploded"
And there was a Cylon ship near her. Could have saved her somehow. Either it was in her mind (probably Cylon then), or it was some kind of stealth ship that Apollo couldn't see (probably not Cylon then). Hmmm. Heres a good one; if it was a stealth ship then in the BSG universe (which is a bit more realistic than most) it probably can't go really invisible to the human eye. They were in a big stormy thing so that is why it didn't appear on their sensors. But Starbuck saw it and Apollo didn't (and she was right in front of him). The one way to make it invisible is if it can blind itself to Cylon eyes. Pretty easy to do that as it's all just technology. Which means that Apollo is a Cylon. Nice. Unless they go down the road that Starbuck is a Cylon or bring religion into it again (God made it invisible for some reason).

Cheers

I'm glad they are taking a long time out now, BSG is good, but it was starting to ware a bit thin I think. Hopefully the time out will give their writes a good solid chance to rebuild idea's and introduce some unexpected twists. Her amazing return at the end didn't exactly have me stunned, nor did their sudden arrival near earth. The four of them turning out to be possible cylons made me yawn as well. Boltars acquittal was obvious, as is his being drawn into more religious gaffle. Perhaps I’ve just spent too many years watching science fiction to really be suppressed anymore. But I hope they take this time to come up with something good.|
