Okay here's the deal. List the people you have met (as in talked to, not just recognized from far away). And don't be listing your local news reporter because odds are the rest of us won't know.

Today this lady came into my dentist office while I was waiting, and she sat down across from my wife and I. Finally I had to ask her if she was in fact the mother from Dead Like Me. Yes, she is, and she told me about how she's hoping they bring the series back for a TV movie (on the left):

Others:

In '99 I met Jake Busey (Starship Troopers) at the first Coachella festival in California. In '98 I met Mario Van Peebles (B actor) at Disneyland. In '90 I met Brad Pitt and John Travolta, respectively, on two TV and movie sets when I used to do "extra" work.

That's pretty much all that I can remember. Anyone else?

Nick Faldo (Golfer) offered me a lift home after a tournament I went to watch.

And I've met the guy that trained the Raven in the next Harry Potter movie

I was at a mate's 21st on the weekend.
There was an absolute stunner there - 5'10", lightly tanned, beautiful face, tonned body.
Naturally, I tried my luck. I was succesful! Then she started to name drop - apparently she's been an extra in all these (Australian) movies. Meet folks like the guy out of Wolf Creek, etc, etc.

I just walked away. Didn't talk to her again

I hate, hate people that do that.

Nearly spilt a drink on David Lee Roth when working at Marina Mirage.

Missed Grace Jones by a few minutes after a mate told me he was at her hotel.

Stopped a famous indy car driver from taking his friends onto the indy500 track on early morning on the gold coast. My security partner was gobsmacked i didnt know him. Accreditation please.!

Worked as an extra on time trax and fortress on the gold coast, so thats Christopher Lambert who was nice, but Dave midkiff didnt have time for us, that cable show sucked anyway.

Midnight Oils Peter Garrett, lead singer / and a few other well known musos used to visit our restaurant when i was younger. He has massive hands.

We made some semi famous australian country singer work in the bar all night, the ladies loved it and I got a break from cocktails. I forget his name.

You meet quite a few working in bars on the gold coast. I dont recall anyone else but there are a few more.

My bro used to do security at some famous clubs as well, He would pretend not to know them to get more of a conversation out of them before he would let them in .

I met Michael hutchins mum (inxs) lead singer when we were kids as we were runing the stage gear and she yelled at us.

edit: I forgot about asking massive attack at the enmore theatre backstage

I met Chris Tarrent when I was on his quiz show.

I shook Prince Charles' hand when he flew through Cyprus.

I met Jim Davidson when he came out to Cyprus to do a show for the troups during Gulf War 2. I was erecting the stage, so he was around a lot for rehersal.

I met Lynda Nolan in the mid 80's when she was someone.

I worked in a photo lab in 1988 and in walked Geoff Capes for his photos developing.

I was working in an Athena (poster shop) mid 80's and Lynda Lusardi was in there looking at posters of herself. Naturely, I had to buy one and have her autograph it.

In 1977 my parents and I met Barry Sheen in Peurto Banos. He bought us all a drink and invited us to his yacht for another. My parents said no!

I met Jenson Button at the Barcelona Grand Prix in 2004.

I was stood at the next urinal to Jackie Stewart at the Silverstone Grand Prix in 2000. He called me 'wee man'!

Although I have never met Louise Goodman (F1 commentator) she did phone me and we spoke for about 10 mins! A friend of mine works for Benson & Hedges and he got tickets to an F1 party hosted by Eddie Jordan. He was going to take me but I had to 'go to war' (lived in a hotel in Turkey whilst the pilots carried out Operation Northern Watch). So, he took his woman instead. He got talking to Louise and somehow I came up in the conversation. So, feeling sorry for me missing out on the party, she called me. It was the best phone call I have ever had.

And now, the spurious connections ... once dated a girl who was Jim Bowens niece (she wasn't proud of it).
Also dated a Finnish girl who used to date Mika Hakkinnen long before he was famous.
I live half a mile from Patrick Stewart's Parents and often see them shopping. Never seen him though.

I missed another one. When I was very young, the ex-wife of a murderer used to babysit me. I believe it was the wife of Donald Neilson, aka The Black Panther

I once, as a kid, bought some sweets off the bird who played that brunette welsh bint in Hi-de-hi (big british comedy from the 70's that was based on crappy holiday camps like Butlins). She was visiting her mam (I've moved back to full on welsh here) who owned the shop and was helping out while she was there.

I know I know, don't get too close or the fame will consume you...

Cheers

Alice (the housekeeper) from the Brady Bunch used to be my neighbor. She lived a couple of houses up the street from me. She is involved in this Christian group that moved to my town for a while. I think they are now based in San Antonio, TX. She is a really nice lady

I met Dan Aykroyd (guy from ghost busters) a couple of years ago, he has a cottage on Lober Lake, which happens to be the lake right beside Buck Lake, where my grandfather lives. Boated over there and apparently my grandpa knew Dan, we went to his dock, shook hands, talked for a few minutes and left.

Theres a popular band that grew up with my uncle (I have pictures)... I just cant remember the band's name... Ill get it from my mom tonight.

My mum knew Tom Jones when she was a teenager. Basically her dad owned a pub in Wales and Tom and his band used to play in there now and again. She once took Tom and a few other lads home in her dad's car once when they had a few too many. My granddad was pretty forward thinking when it came to drinking and driving (not sexism though obviously as he always got my mum to drive them home). Shame it didn't come down to just drinking as he died of alcoholism. Sigh. But c'mon, Tom Jones!!! Not bad.

Cheers

I don't know how well known the 2 comedy skit designers are, Big Chuck & Lil John, but I know they are well known in the Cleveland area. I bet them both and have since seen Chuck a few times at the grocery store we used to go to.

I also met all the band members of Supertones, Jeff the Girl from Five Iron Frenzy, and a few from Insyderz (all Christian ska bands)

My brother's bands have been widely known in the Akron/Canton area of Ohio, but nothing too famous.

Other than that I don't think I've met anyone really really famous...

My mom met the Brady Bunch girls while they were filming the King's Island episode. They were eating in the same restaraunt. She said they were stuck up little brats

Okay let's see.

I was within a few feet of Sean Penn, when he was doing some filming near where I live back in October, for his movie coming out in July, "Into the Wild"...

I met Kurt Thomas, who was on the Rockets (NBA) in 2002, along with the Rocket's Announcer(Don't know his name, he was in the NBA also but he was African-American)

Yao Ming waved at me after myself and some others kept yelling for him to sign autographs. Y'know the 7'6'' NBA player as well.

I have also met/shook hands with James Battin, who was Senator of California in 2002, don't know if he still is.

And that's what I can remember so far.

i used to go to an international boarding school in birmingham, where i knew a rising-star athlete from ghana, the son of the mayor of new jersey, the daughter of the russian vice-president, the children of Nick Owen (local news reader) hence i met nick owen and shafali the local weather reader, the grandson and son of famous cricketers, and the son of some italian who owned a fancy posh italian restaurant chain, (and apparently was being hunted down by the mafia).

Also, the drama teacher at my current school is an ex-wrestler, he was one of the "head-bangers".

as for actually ever meeting anyone famous? nah

Oh, I forgot. Kris Kristopherson's (Blade) kids went to my school for a few weeks while he was here filming something. My friend liked his daughter Kelly, who was in my year. But, he got me into trouble with my mum, so I ruined any chances of them going out by talking to them both about his horrible farts he was making that morning

haha, I hope he shaves now...

I met Clint Eastwood and a few of his ranch hands. They weren't very happy to see me as I was 'trespassing' as they put it, but I was working as a noxious weed tech. for the state and feds to erradicate naughty weeds, so I had a legal right to be on their land.

Chuck Norris came into the theatre I work at a few months back. He has some property out of town about 30 or 40 miles. Kind of a recluse that guy.

Johnny Cash was my great uncle in law (or something along those lines), even though I was related to him I never met him.

I met Michael Dell at a conference once, pretty nice guy I guess.

I also met Fiodor (spelling???) he is the guy that wrote NMap, he is only really a celebrity to computer geeks like me.

I live on Long Island, and many Celebs either party and/or live out in the Hamptons during the summer. But they generally don't like to be bothered, and it's just general courtesy around here to not make a big scene, if they aren't at a promotional event. They usually have a security entourage near by.

1. I ran into Paul Sr. from OCC "American Choppers" up in New Paltz, NY. (It's one exit north of Orange County off the NY State Thru Way). He was really cool. My fiancee and I spotted his bike in a parking lot (hard to miss). And then we saw him entering a Starbucks (which I wouldn't have guessed). I didn't want to bother him, considering the size of his bicepts (he's bigger in person than on T.V. and each one of his arms are bigger than my legs, and almost the size of my chest). I really didn't want to be one of those types to annoy him while he was out having a regular day.

We waited outside casually for about 20 minutes for him to come out. At which time my fiancee asked (I was chicken), if "she" could take a picture with him and his bike. He was one of the nicest people I have ever met. At first he said, "sure!", and began walking with her to the bikes. As I followed he turned around and said "Just the girl, Not you!". I'll admit I hesitated for a few seconds, and figured my fiancee was so excited that I let her go alone to get the pictures. Then He let out a hearty left and said "C'mon son", and put his meathooks around me and patted me on the shoulder. His hands are like sledge-hammers.

He not only let us take his picture, but he spent time talking with us and invited us to sit on his bike. At another point he did mess with me again. Guess he could see I was a bit nervous. My fiancee was taking a picture with him, and I fumbled on operating her camera. At which point he barked loudly "C'mon ED!", just like he yells at his son Paul jr. on the show. I'll have to admit, his voice rattled my rib cage and I nearly dropped the camera. He smiled a big grin. We talked a little bit about his show & his car collection, and then he headed-off. While he may not be a celeb to some, I was just really happy about how kind and friendly he was to two complete strangers. Really a good guy, even if he did mess with me a bit.

2. I used to meet Billy Joel at least once a week, when I worked at Hess (Gas Station) in South Hampton. He came in regularly to fill up one of his boats. Nice guy generally, but he's know to have a temper and mood swings at times.

You are so lucky!

I haven't met anyone famous but my Mum has rather an interesting story...

When she was young she used to work for a cinema. She was an usher. She saw Star Wars Empire Strikes back 97 times! I can't remember which Star Wars movie it was, but George Lucas was there and my Mum (Dressed up as Chewbacca mind!) spilled whisky on his pants! She didn't even mean to do it so she could talk to him! But he was alright and understanding. But you could imagine the Cinema manager...

One other point of interest, Relient K wrote a song about my brother. I don't listen to Relient K so I don't know what song it is. It's not a friendly song to my brother. They used to be really good friends. Relient K started out in the Canton, Ohio area. My bro was living there at the time and was good friends with Relient K at the time, they played alot of shows together. I guess they had a falling out when Relient K got big, Relient K was losing sight of their original ideals and becoming sellouts. So, my brother stopped going to their shows and all that.

But it always freaks people out when I tell them that

I went for some DIY bits at Focus and ran into Fred Dibnah MBE and his landrover. I didn't pester him or anything I think celebs should be left alone.

Are there any other famous people from your home town?

Amir Khan(Boxer), Peter Kay & Patrick McGuinness(Comedy, Pheonix Knights, Dr Who), Sarah Cox(TV/Radio), Johnny Ball (Childrens TV), Danny Jones (Mc Fly), Vernon Kay(TV/Radio), Alan Ball (1966 World Cup), Tony Knowles (snooker), Ralf Little (Comedy - Two Pints of Larger & a Packet of Chrisp)

Lots of businesses started here too, Scan International(IT), Dabs(IT), Unilever (chemicals/cleaning), Warburtons (bakers)

I guess no-one outside the UK will have heard of any of these

Long list, but here are a few that were more than just a quick meet.

Vinnie Paz (Boxer) Met him a number of times, not a big fan the guys a jerk. Got mad at me when I informed him regardless of who he was he needed to pay his bill (working at friendly's resturant at the time). Also was there when my cousin, who worked at the local cinema, had to have security escort him out because he felt he and his girl didn't need to buy a ticket. Met him again about a year and a half ago in Store 24, gave me a nasty look when he asked me if I wanted an autograph and I said no.

Steven Tyler (Aerosmith) met him at King Richard's Faire, got to take some pictures with him and talked about the blues album they had recoreded but never released. He was really friendly and wearing a jesters hat.

Ritchie Blackmore (guitarist) My band opened for him at the Living Room in Providence, RI. During sound check he watched us close and actually played my guitar because he thought the sound I had was interesting. Gave us alot of pointers on working in the buisness.

Jake E Lee (former ozzy guitarist) met him at Lupo's when he was in badlands, a bunch of us spent the night in his hotel room playing quarters (a drinking game), and trivial pursuit (which we also turned into a drinking game).

Vince Neil, Nikki Six, and Tommy Lee (no mick), sat with them at the Foxy Lady after one of their shows. Vince gave me a pile of ones , had a good time and drank way too much.

Steve Jackson (Steve Jackson Games) met him at Dovercon, played Ogre with him and later played a few GURPS games.

Others I have met
Scott Ian, Angus Young, Brian Johnson, Vernon Reid, Arnold Swarzzeneger (?sp), Mel Brooks, Dimebag Darrell, Dave Mustaine, Dave Ellefson, Chris Poland.

The list goes on, I met alot of people in the music buisness through my stepfather being a sound engineer. Also a ton of famous people I have met at conventions.

Oh yeah, I've met them all a few times. They owe me a dollar.

My brother went out to dinner with Reese Roper and everyone after their last Ohio concert. It's a shame Five Iron broke up, excellent ska

My thoughts exactly. Their last album was truly spectacular, one of my most listened to. Wish i could have went to one of their concerts before they broke up.

I have never met a famous person. And don't really care(even though it would be kind of cool).

No, I haven't met anyone particularly famous that I've recognized. But then again, I'm not usually looking for them.

Since the other one was scaring you guys so much...

Cliff Blezinsky lives near my house. I've talked to him a couple times. Once my parents were on vacation in California and met Keifer Sutherland.
