If there's one thing I hate, it's shameless payoffs. Whose idea was it to go ahead with this? I mean--- are there no sane people left in Hollywood? Why would EA do this?

The only worse game-to-movie idea I can think of would be Tetris: The Movie. Anyone else think this is idiotic?

Argh.

So pretty much it's going to be a movie version of Big Brother then?

No no no no no NO! Pass me the shotgun, please! So what have the hollywood guys been smoking? I mean you'd have to be pretty high to come up with The Sims as a movie idea...You say are there any sane people left at Hollywood? I say are there any sane people at EA?

I am so going to watch this when it's coming onto Sky Movies...I like watching pathetic movies, it leaves you with a giggle or a 'WTF' feeling at the end.

Personally, I think this will be a superb cinematic experience ... second only to "Sparrow Boy: Search for the Broken Nest Twigs", widely regarded as the greatest movie ever made.

While they're at it they could just turn it into a daily soap opera... that's all the Sims is... This is dumb... REALLY REALLY dumb.

wtf!? The Sims has absolutely positively NO storyline! Unless i'm missing something in-between setting up my house so that it catches on fire and traps my Sim in the middle. Seriously, i played the game once, thought it was stupid, and decided to find ways of killing my sim in various ways, it was much fun

The only REAL story i can see going on here, is something similar to that of Stranger than Fiction, or Tron (Where the person enters the game... not the disk throwing etc etc)

Well that is going to be a dud. Although it would be interesting to have a whole movie with a script made up of those silly noises they make.

Brad Pit: "Weeweee! aiie, arga arga"
Nicole Kidman: "Urka urka, umhum, urka"

This thing will take some serious talent won't?

My guess:

It'll be your average family, doing your average stuff. Cut to a kid playing SIMs. Keep cutting between the two, without the two realizing what they're doing. The family thinks they're normal, the kid thinks hes just playing a game. Until something weird happens, and the sims catch on, kind of like a comedy (they see a pixel die, they experience lag, or something). The sims start trying to contact the kid playing the game, the kid finds out, some sort of magical thing happens, and the next morning there's a knock on the door. Who is it? The sims family, in real life, acting as if they dont know the kid.

Or, paraphrased from another site:

If this is about putting a kid in a room with no doors and windows and watching him crap himself to death, I'm all for it!

I like using the cheat that lets you pick up anything, and putting the taxi in the swiimming pool and the school bus in the house!
Also, it's fun building a swimming pool around a postman. He gets in the pool and drowns!!! It's stupid that the sims have to use a ladder as well. If you don't put a ladder in, they die in less than a minute!

If I wanted to sit in a movie theater and watch someone crap for two hours, I'd probably pay to see Paris Hilton movies. This is the worst idea since... um... nope! This is just the WORST idea! Ever! It's of a different caliber than any other stupid things I've ever seen, like a special kind of stupid. The kind that can only be reserved for people who see dollar signs from two different areas that don't work together. This is like Ford Taurus: The Movie, but less interesting. Some things just don't belong on this planet... like the people who decided this would be a big hit.

All I can think of is that they might use the story from Sims 2 in the starter town, with Bella going missing and all that. Or maybe, just maybe, they'll make a movie WITH the Sims and expect it to get an audience beyond You Tube. Either way, we're in for a few laughs with this bit of cinematic filth.

Like Pirates of the Carribean. Why on earth would you make a movie about a ride in a theme park that doesn't have any sort of significant plot? And it isn't even a fun ride! Pirates of the Carribean was a crappy movie based on an even crappier theme park ride, a ride that doesn't even excite little kids. The Sims movie comes from that same corporate concept of making money without involving the thought process or giving a crap what consumers might actually enjoy. But this time around, if you build it, I don't think anyone will come.

You do realize this could be like The Truman Show, and not be about a bunch of people who are controlled by a 5yr old and have spinning diamonds on their heads.

Well for one I don't think it'll be exactly like the game, I personally think it'll just take elements from it.

I haven't been on it since the mid 1990's, when I was teenager. When you step off Space Mountain and take a ride on Pirates, well, they don't compare, lol.

Quote: "Why not Tom Clancys,Rainbow"

Rainbow Six has been a movie under development for ages. A while ago they got John Woo to sign on as a director, but then, as I understand it anyway, Clancy himself stepped in and said he didn't want it to be a slugfest, so they found a more moderate, dramatic director. IMBD says it's coming out in 2008, but the article doesn't seem to have any information in it other than a title and a year. But I do think this would be an awesome movie.

But of all the Tom Clancy books they should make into a movie, I think Without Remorse would definitely be the best adapted to film. And I'm including all of his previous movies that have made it to the big screen. In my opinion, none of them could top Without Remorse. It's such a gritty story and John Clark is such a human-monster that you might have a hard time believing Clancy actually wrote it. It isn't about Presidential drug war scandals or Naval tactics or thermo-nuclear war... it's just a story about a guy who wants revenge, and in my opinion, it's the best Clancy book of all time.

Indeed, but Doom was worth it though...Vin Diesel dying and all...Although I'd prefer something more gruesome for my hated celebrities - kind of like Paris Hilton in house of wax...although more slowly and painful.

Good game movies...Final Fantasy VII:AC and Silent Hill in my opinion, the rest aren't that good. Game movies tend to work like movie games - Look at Resevior Dogs the Game, Sum of All Fears the game etc. but you get some good ones like the Godfather and LOTR.

There was a fan made Quake movie in the works that looked promising, but ID shut that down quick. I agree that if they do make an official one that it would be all CG, and based of the Quake 1 game You roam a castle and run into a 10 foot tall abonable(not sure of the spelling) snow-man who can shoot lightning, now thats a movie!

Tom Clancy movies are always good, and I agree that Without Remorse would be a good choice. Though my favorite movie of his will always be his first, The Hunt for Red October.

I personally thought Tomb Raider was a great game movie. Maybe because it had my favorite boobs in it..NO, favorite actress! Actress! Angelina Jolie...srry, i get those words confused sometimes.(sarcasm if no one picks it up )

Vin Diesel was in Doom? I think you're thinking of "The Rock," another of these bogus celebrities who, like Kid Rock, stole my stage-name well after I had it established in college radio, print, and television
Quote: "

Agreed, it's my favorite as well. I didn't really enjoy Sum of All Fears as much as I thought I would, in my opinion it deviated from the books more than the other Clancy films.

Doom movie was ok... if you don't put it in the same universe as the Doom games. If it were its own movie it would have been pretty good. The monsters in my opinion were very cool non-CG. It looked alot more realistic. However, the biggest hang up was that they weren't demons as Doom has been based around forever. Just mutations. Lame.
