Well... these optical illusions are all over the net. I knew that one already. When you focus at the centre the dots forming a circle will simply start to dissapear as the green dot jumps around, almost as it erases them on it's way around.

lol, the point is the squares are meant to be the same, but look like they arent because the light square, even though is cast in shadow is surrounded by dark squares hence looks lighter.

I've seen that first one before...

But that second pic is blowing my mind! Sure enough, checked in photoshop, same color! That's got to be the best optical illusion I've ever seen.

Color, contrast, and human perception of them is pretty amazing.

This reminds me of something I was watching last night about the Sun. We've all seen photos of sun-spots right? Those dark spots on the sun indicating increased Coronal mass ejections etc. Those "dark" spots are actually quite bright, in fact, if you could remove one from the sun's surface and float it in black space next to our moon, the "dark" spot would be something like 100 times brighter than the brightest full moon, as observed from earth. The spots only appear "dark" on the sun because of the brightness of the sun itself, and the contrast to the spots.

It is, but the multiple disappearing spots and colour change isn't.

Save it to disk and open it in a GIF editor. You'll see that each frame just has one missing dot.

My favorit optical illusion is that dragon that turns it's head towards you as you move around the room. This one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHooHuhVfsQ

I got two of those standing in my room, hehe. Looks crazy. Although sometimes it does start to get a little freaky... But it's an incredible powerful illusion.

Ooohhhhh I get the first one now. My eyes were too busy following the moving dot, so nothing happened

My eyes are kinda messed so I can't see those 3D picture thingies--- thought for some reason I couldn't "do" that one. But it's pretty wild!

you mean zooming?
and that's because it actually is in only 4 frames..
I don't think this is a good one..though it is a bit of an illusion..
it does zoom in and out in the gif though..

@5Louiz: that second one is just photoshop, the dice in the background shown over the ones stacked. There is no shadow on the top stacked die...

Focus on the dot in the centre, then move your head forwards and backwards.

Sorry for this late bump, but on the one posted that has the shadow, and the two letters that look different but are the same, print that picture out, and cut out all the squares to understand it. This one was in my psychology book.,
