Door pack, doors in the game are all single ones, as in less that 100 units, or 1 segment, how about doors that span more than 1 segment space, like 2 or 3, or perhaps taller than 1 segment, useful for large areas like hangers and the like, what with fpsc dx10 and its ability to do larger scale battles, large doorways for monsters to pour through would be great.

Window kits that allow windows that stretch across a full segment, useful if one is doing big windows like on starships. Windows that are different shapes, like domes for ceilings, or tubes or curved sections of windows, great for sci fi corridors or glass walkways under the sea.

A lift pack, complete with all scripts and models all ready to go.

A Traps pack

Rubble pack, smashed up stone walls, battle debris, piles of smashed debris, space junk piles. Also stuff one can block corridors with.

Look at the Games Workshop Cities of Death for inspiration.
see here

and craters as well like this

i was thinking.
if we just had a segment pack that looked like the outside of a building, we would not need building models
thats what would want

What would be brilliant, would be shops!!!
Like the counters shelves with suff on them and freezers and shop windows, shopping trollys and a few segments to go wiv
and some nice venders and a cash machine.
I have noticed that there are no shops and it would be perfect for a city theme

and it would even fit with zombie themes in modern day as you could tweak it and make them all bashed up like in dawn of the dead in the mall

Cubes set at different sizes would sort that out, like very big cubes, like 1000x1000, as in building size, then one just drops in segment cubes here and there, add sections of smaller sizes for stories, easy way to build buildings, I wouldnt do buildings by making loads of 100x100 segments, thats too heavy on computer resourses

I have thought of this myself...

It will work, no problem with that but!

Than FPSC will have to calculate every single mesh...
So every cube would be loaded seperately.
(or at least i think so)

Also, if you just want cubes....than you could use the stock meshes, to form a cube.

So the best thing to do is:

Make cubes,
Doors (static ones),
Windows (static ones),
Roofs,
Maybe some stair ways for the somewhat "luxery" houses.
Balcony's,
Also some smaller roundings compared to the stock ones. (corners)
Windows that could fit in the roundings (static),

Etc...Etc...

Cheers,
Cheese Cake.

grand-theft auto pack?

You mean cars? Or the urban stuff?
basically a some sort of city-pack?

Sci-fi weapons would be highly appreciated.

Terrain pack.

But the terrains are seamless to each other, so each one can connect with all the other pieces, its not so hard, what you need is to use, or edit it in is a program that can snap to grid, the free program delgine can do that, then make the edges of the segment square, or even all vertex snap to grid points, the program has a button that can do that, the ones inside the mesh are not that important to snap to the grid points, but the edges are a must, then when you make the other terrain squares, just drag the edges to the vertex points that your other terrain is on, do this for all sides, we want the segment to be seamless and connect to all others of course.

Then make a pack of these, the flat ones are pretty easy, but be more adventurous, do banks, hill section, all will be seamless so all will connect with every other piece, or most other pieces, for banking it would have to be 100 units high so it can connect with all other parts, I guess you could make some 50 units high, then have sections going from 50 units to 100 units high, anyway you get the picture, terrain segments that are seamless and can connect with the other terrain segments in the pack. I'm amazed no one has done it, I guess its because not many people know you can snap vertex to grid points in certain 3d programs making it easy to make the edges join to other segments easily when you create the segments in your 3d model editor.

Touture equipment pack would be great, or just scary nasty stuff like what one would find in the hell world in those Hellraiser films.

Like tvs, computers, computer parts like motherboards and vga cards, laptops, monitors like CRT and LCD, speakers, stereos, dvd players, video players, UPSs, mouses like computer ones, keyboards both pc and instrument, etc... Thx...

Quote: "Terrain pack - segments"

@fallen one, I have also thought about that and have used some of those segments a bit. (not seamless though)
Quote: "all will be seamless so all will connect with every other piece"

That's impossible.
Quote: "or most other pieces"

Sounds more realistic

I am thinking of 5 different heights - 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 (or at least 3).
And each of those can be combined with similar ones.
Let's say we have a segment with height 20 in each direction. This is the base height - the place where a segment will connect with another one. The actual "curves" will exist over/under this height. First we have 20x20x20x20. Then 20x20x20x40, 20x20x40x40........20x40x60x60... Wow a lot of combinations, but I will think which ones are useless and will remove them.

Well, Idea - Copyrighted!
LOL

It looks so possible now, but it's late and I will think about that tomorrow and will post if I am starting to work on a pack.

Cheers!

No it's not, you just gotta make the edges of each segments the same. Take a look a the Signs IV landscape starter kit.

how about A MODEL PACK with characters that come up to you and punch/kick you.
also get an item that when you pick it up it makes your player invisible so your enemies cant see you.

No - it is impossible.
I guess you haven't thought about that in details.
If you make all the edges the same you will get a funny and quite fake landscape.
Of course if you make the segments 300x300 or 500x500 this will be possible, but will be a bit useless.

Cheers!

I know the kit. It cotains 10 segments (I think). How about different hill, mountains... For a completed terrain you will need probably 30 or even more. It's a good kit though.
If you make all the segments 100x100xX, you cannot use the same height. It will not look like a terrain.
I think the best option will be 200x200.

Anyway, we have a lot of options for such a pack, so may be both of us have a point here.

Edit: I have done some tests and looks like making the edges the same will be much easier. Not for modeling but for using (what a shame lol). This means I have to create larger segments. I didn't want that, but... otherwise I will confuse a lot of people and will have to write a huge manual - "How to use the pack" (lol). And of course if you rotate a segment the textures won't match.

Cheers!

It could be possible of course...
But like Ice Cube said, for mountains it would be pretty hard.

You should create every sorts of meshes. (bumps, little hills, bigger bumps etc...)
Than use the same meshes (or different ones)... and place them a bit higher in Segment Editor, and export!
Do this over again, and export them a bit higher than the last one.

Finally when you have repeated this proces, and reached to the
second floor.
You can create all types of landscape.

@Cheese Cake, Exactly!

However it may look very easy, but it's not at all.
I have created different segments - lands, hills, corners... but it's hard even for me to use them, so I will stick to more simple ideas - keep the edges the same where possible...
Well, I've made a thread about this and attached some screens.

Cheers!

P.S. *edge - the place where a segment connects with another one

Personal opinion...
i think the best thing to do is just create some
bumps, hills, and maybe even "mountains"...
which people can just place them around wherever they want
without putting a certain formation so they can all fit together.

Hell no! you make them 1000x1000, its a terrian map, 200x200 will have hundreds of them, the problem with fpsc users is they havnt used other editors, they think its the norm to make a game out of millions of cubes, ie segments, well it isnt, thats why the games take forever to load, are massive in file size and run like sludge. Its a very bad way to make levels, they should of gone like cube 2, and had segments as a tool for banging in BSP, then had an optomise button to get rid of whats not needed in all the edges that have been made.

So anyway, to make a better running game its best to not build a floor thats say dimensions to cover are 1000x1000 by using 10x10 100 units segs, thats 1200 tris as oposed to one big seg at 1000 units that would be 12 tris, SEE, big difference, thats why fpsc runs so bad, you are using hundreds of these segments, fpsc dont understand that makes a difference at all.

So dont make your terrain with 200x200 units, make them 1000x1000 units in size.

LOL
I am afraid that's how FPSC works best. You may also contact TGC and ask why I have to build rooms like that...

Quote: "make them 1000x1000"

No, thanks I've tried, but these don't work for me.

Quote: "had segments as a tool for banging in BSP, then had an optomise button to get rid of whats not needed in all the edges that have been made."

There's also a thread how to make FPSC better, so you may post some thoughts if you wish.

Quote: "So dont make your terrain with 200x200 units, make them 1000x1000 units in size."

I can make them 1000x1000 but I can't promise anything for those. I will include some 1000x1000 as a free bonus, but you can stuck on these pieces very easy and will have to use "C" (crouch) to continue... I'll try to make them flawless though.

things going up and down left and right forward and back, things moving in every direction, great for platform games.

I think you can find a lot of free cars here if you run a search. Just put "car" in the search box bellow and see what comes...

Quote: "Moving platform pack"

I have thought about that before, but you can do it with antigrav platforms.
Of course if you want "stuff" moving constantly you may have collision issues. I mean if you try to use them as lifts...

I'd like to see some characters, male and female that are generic. so that they can easily be modified. Also an animation pack. This would include: getting up from a chair, a bed, etc.

Urban exteriors, a one way window, a good prison pack, a few good corpses, power lines.
