Who in blazes is this Morello guy?I'm not joking...I don't remember ever hearing about him.
Hendrix would smoke him anyways...didn't we have this debate in another thread?

Morello was in Rage Against the Machine, then Audioslave, now he's back in Rage Against the Machine since Audioslave broke up and Rage got back together.

Sounds like a soap opera LOL

You can't compare two completely different guitarists.

What a daft discussion...Morrello doesn't even hit the top 4:

2 best dead Guitarists - Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan - Morello can't compete in elegance, skill and showmanship. These two could basically make their guitar sing...Morello, can't - or at least to the standard of these two. Jimi Hendrix, when he first came to England, was to perform as the first person to perform with Cream, with the greatest guitarist of their time, Eric Clapton (Who is labelled the greatest living guitarist) and completely outstaged him, played songs Clapton had difficult with ease. The he started performing the works of others and stealing showmanship and improving each of them, he outdid Bob Dylan - Dylan said that Hendrix's version is far better, out stage acted The Who - not only by bashing his guitar, but completely trashed it and set it alight and alsorts...and The Who were to play next with their trade mark material Hendrix just did to the extreme. And he cheekily played Sargeant Pepper with a completely improved version the day after the single came out. And of course, no one has beaten his ability to play the right handed guitar left handed, behind his head, switch it from his back and front without missing a beat (Vaughan could do this too) playing with his teeth and his actual playing was very skillful...If Tom Morello can beat that and the things I probably forgot to mention, then he should have a hell of a lot of recognition...But I doubt he is that good, he can do some cool effects, when I've watched him on stage I thought he was a prat, but I'm sure others would beg to differ - plus he re-uses a lot of riffs he's used in other songs...

The other two great guitarists (living) in my top 4 - Gary Moore then Eric Clapton (Though EC is labelled above GM, but lets be honest, EC is a bit of an A-hole and GM shows that much more passion than he does.)

No debate really...even if people think Morello's music sounds better to others, but this is a comparison in guitar skills and not style or song writing.

Clapton, great on acoustic, but not as much on electric.

Morello is good, but I wouldn't even put him in the top 10.

I saw a VH1 top 100 one-hit wonders the other night. Surprisingly, Hendrix was on the list! I never realized, but his only song to hit the top 10 on the charts was all along the watchtower. One-hit wonder? Perhaps, but a bigger influence on the culture than most mainstream artists with ten #1's.

That's not really surprising in my opinion, I've found most of the most talented artists don't always get in the charts and don't often end up in mainstream music...I think Milk Paton illustrates that really well in the 'Paton Band' episodes...Paton's music - talentless - gets a record deal and a number 1 hit, Talented band - sells through less mainstream medium - MySpace.

Richard Kruspe can compete in showmanship, who else can play the Adios solo whilst over half of their guitar is on fire?

O.K Hendrix is more famous but in my opinion he wasn't the best

Hendrix is and will always be a legend in rock history, Morello will be lucky to be a footnote. Hendrix was great not because he was the greatest guitarist there has evr been, but because he defined a new sound that went on to inspire others. Hendrix gave birth to Eddie and Eddie's sound was the base for most guitarists of the 80's to early 90's. As for who is better that is a really tough comparison, Morello had Hendrix and those who followed to build on so I will go with Hendrix. If you had the two of them together with everything they knew/know and had a guitar duel I would bet Morello would win not because he is better but because he has more sources to draw from.
