I just recently finished a game (sort of :/), and when i sent the file to one of my friends, it gave him a .dll err (D3D i believe), and then a runtime error. The runtime error said that the objects being loaded didn't exist (even though the .exe was in the same folder as the models, and textures. Ugh, what happened?

It worked fine on my comp., btw. If thats what you mean. It just didn't work on his. When you're done with something, do you just give the .exe and media? Or are you supposed to include .dlls?

You should not have to give him any DLL's. Is it possible he does not have the latest version of DirectX installed?

Ohhh sorry I misread. I'm actually not sure why it isn't working. You can try malcom's idea, although you would probably get a different error for that

He said he installed it, but then he got a runtime error for the objects. The .exe couldn't find them. But they were in the same folder :-s.

You added all the media to the project (the blue Media button)?

If you've used the blue Media button then you shouldn't need to include the media in the rar file as well.

Make sure that only the files your program uses are in the same folder as your .dba file and if they are jpg files, use *.jpg when you add them to the project.

Then, check that in your program you use only the media filename, Eg:

Load Image 1,"picturename.jpg"

If you are using a hard coded path like:

Load Image 1,"C:\foldername\foldername\picturename.jpg"

then there's a very good chance that path doesn't exist on other machines. Media included in the exe doesn't use a path - only the filename, so using a specific path doesn't look where the files actually are.

[Edit] Actually, all that is true for DBC - it might still be the same for DBP too, so worth checking...

Well thats cool that you got it working. Maybe it was possible that your friend forgot to unrar the files? I send my friends .zips alot, and they've had that problem before when they just try to open it straight up and run the exe. Theyre not exactly... computer literate.
