I was reading this thread, which got locked, so I couldn't ask this question there..

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=110133&b=28

.. does TCG concidered people without DBP in their order history software pirates?

I ask because i bought my boxed copy from Amazon and even though it's registered through TCG it looks like I'm a software thief because looking at my order history, it don't show!

I miss out on free offers like the recent Book samples..

..and it's got me paranoid that the reason my game mysteriously dissapeared from the nVidia compo was because someone at TCG thought I was a pirate!

(my proof of entry can be seen here http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=104500&b=32)

I'd be very surprised if that was a problem. My order history shows blank for the same reason and I haven't noticed any difficulties.

But then, what free offers ... ?

What about vouchers? I had to sign up a new account to use mine as they used my profile email address and not my log in email address.

It's a bit daft that people would make the assumption of piracy, but I don't know if Fred had other reasons for locking the thread, I mean the FPSC section is more difficult to control and I suppose it might have been pre-empt to people throwing more and more accusations at the guy and things getting ugly.

And I doubt people would think you're a software pirate dude, I bought my DBP from amazon too.

Who knows. In the past I've seen quite a few threads in the FPSC section locked for no apparent reason.

I dunno if i dreamed it up, coz i can't find it (maybe it was april fools), but I'm sure i read somewhere they gave free chapters from the DBP Books but only if you bought DBP direct from TCG so it showed in your purchase list not that I need them, but it does make me feel like a 2nd class citizen

Really? I don't look over there much, only when I want to amuse myself and have a laugh or a thread catches my eye. But to be fair, if I ever were a mod, I'd take every moment I could to abuse my power. Seriously though, if that's really the case then Fred and other FPSC mods might want to consider what they're doing before they lock, but I do speak to Fred and Keith on another forum and sounds like modding over there is quite a job to keep the place clean, you can imagine putting so many clueless people in a room and get them talking about FPSC, you'd find yourself pulling your hair out. Though that said, if they are locking threads for no reason, then it's not a fair thing.

It looks lto me like it was locked because people were throwing around unfounded accusations of piracy.

I didn't buy my DB Pro from TGC, I got it from eBay. That was over 4 years ago, and I've never had a locked thread.

Now I have a nice order history...

I got my DBpro from GuyS, won in a compo, in fact the manual that I have is probably fairly rare (I doubt GuyS got many manuals printed) - might be worth millions one day, wish I hadn't ripped the front cover now . My manual looks a lot like the old ring binder STOS manual, kinda fitting.

My copy of DBPro is totally portable, like I can just copy it onto a PC and run it, it's saved my neck a lot of times because my CD is broken, but for some reason it just moves, don't even have to reinstall the plugins usually (sept Ageia drivers of course).

We're going down... in a spiral to the ground...

I think I've got the same manual Van, it's basically just the help files binded together right?

I got my copy from Amazon, and haven't had any problems, and I've had to reactivate it loads of times due to changing comps etc.

Only thing is, he didn't order it all, and now he doesn't even use it! Leastwise he said he wasn't going to.

I've got an old manual too. I wouldn't consider it valuable. To the contrary .....

Incidentally, Amazon (US) junk-emailed me today offering DBPro, but says its published by Enteractive, Inc. (as opposed to TGC). Who are they?

I too got my copy off amazon, and didn't get DarkMATTER 1. But the nice folks over at TGC found a way to get it to me anyway.

@Code Dragon: Poor? Mines pathetic:

That was nice of them

Did you get the free RiftSpace and StarWraith games too supposidly worth 19.99 each? After installing them it required a serial number that I could never find so they were basicaly demos, Doh!

I'd like to buy dark-matter 2 and 3 but they only sell 1,2,3 for £50. I think £50 is steep for one pack I don't need and the fact they don't light/shade correctly anyway (my experience of pack 1) :p

@GatorHex: Nope, I didn't ask. But I'm sure they would, with all that about no serial.
