FIRMA V1.2 Now Available!

Darkfoil has update Firma by adding the ability to create a floor / ceiling that can have one texture on top and a completely different texture underneath. Now you can have a ceiling AND a floor on one segment!

The last update V1.1 only allowed different textures in the 'Floor' part, not in the segment section.

Use the Download button to download the zip file and make sure you read the READ ME FIRST text file.

Over to DarkFoil...

-------------------------------------------------------------------
For some reason I'm not able to upload the program to this forum so once again NickyDude has stepped in to help.

I think I've finally got the program running stable enough to release it to the FPSC community. NickyDude has been doing the beta testing for me and with his invaluable help we have been able to identify and fix a number of bugs. That said I can't guarantee that it is totally bug free but it does seem to function correctly. It has been installed and tested on three machines that I know of with no ill effects and runs under both Windows XP and Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit edition. Even though it has been tested thoroughly, as with all software, data could be lost through misuse so please backup any important data you have, just to be on the safe side.

The only major change that I have made to the program is to make it use meshes from the fpsc ww2 folder to create room segments and floor segments. This means that it no longer need model pack 3 installed for the program to run.

Finally, I hope this program proves to be as useful for you as it has been for me but if it isn't all that you expected please bare in mind that I'm not a hugely experienced programmer and this is the first time I've tried to create something so complex.

Darkfoil.

This program is better than signs, I strongly advise selling this or making one with extra features so people can register.

The file is .zip but I don't have win zip on my comp. so all I used was the default one on XP - so all I did was open up the file - I didn't even extract it - and it works fine for me

To all concerned.

Please note that I am only providing the download, I didn't make the program in any way (apart from beta testing, and every thing worked fine). Hopefully Darkfoil will provide all the answers for you...

DarkFoil,

Nice work and a smooth program. I like the texture mixer! Thanks.

Nickydude,

Thanks for posting it.

Best.

I'm sorry, my answers are limited. You must ask the right question.

This program sounds awesome. I installed it with out a problem and when I launch Firma, it shows the splash screen and tells me I don't have FPSC installed in the default directory, and that I should change that in the settings. I tried to change the settings but it just shows "FPSC Segment Maker" in the taskbar. I clicked on it and nothing happened.

Edit- I found out that Firma was opened beneath my taskbar, so I moved it. This software ROCKS!

Hi all,

sorry I've not been here for a while but I just got back from my hols.

I'm glad you like my little prog and if it works ok for you I hope it proves to be very useful. I have no plans to add extra features to it, partly because I originally wrote it as a tool for my own use and it satisfies my requirements and partly because of a problem I seem to have in uploading large files to the forum. Nickydude has been a fantastic help to me in getting the program ready for you all by both beta testing it then uploading the final version to the forum to make it available and I have no wish to pester him any further.

Many thanks for the kind comments you have made about Firma, you've made an amateur programmer very happy.

Best Regards,

Darkfoil.

sorry mate but as I said, I don't have any plans to add any extra features to the prog. Hope this isn't too much of a dissapointment.

@Cram. Still scratching my head about your problem. I've tried to recreate the errors you've encountered but so far I haven't been able to so I've no idea where the problem is. I'll keep investigating.

Okay. The installation went fine. But I just read the read-me and it said make a back-up copy of my hard-drive before installation, I deleted firma just incase it was doing something to my hard-drive.

@ Deathead. That's just me being cautious. I'm one of those people who always does a back up of my hard drive before I install any new piece of software. The only things Firma should add to your hard drive are some folders to store any segments or entities you create with it.

@ Cram. Sorry mate but I have no Idea what's causing your problems. I don't understand why it should work properly for you if you uninstall the FPSC updates. When I tested it I used V1 and V1.06 RC4 of the FPSC and it worked fine on both. Sorry.

@ Endless Fps Team. I've never seen magic fps so I don't know what features it has.

I have the same problem as gunn3r, but I can't seem to shift it's position at all, I see sweet nothingness

Edit: Had a revalation, if anyone else has this problem do the following:

1) start up, cancel the incorrect directory dialog
2) highlight firma on the taskbar and press 'alt-space'
3) select move
4) hold the up arrow until the box appears
5) click save settings
6) browse to firma directory and edit the paths in firma.log

alternatively, use the attached firma.log and edit from there (I have my fpsc in f:/etc instead of c:/)

I can't be sure but it looks as though it could be a directx problem. Try installing the latest directx 9 update and see if that helps. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Thanks for the quick response! Just updated my DirectX (which I should've a while ago really), and Firma's running great.

Really useful program, and I'd advise anyone who hasn't already done so to download it.

Brilliant!

A question to Darkfoil: is this program free for commercial segments as well?

Am I allowed to create rooms, signs, floors etc. of my own with your program and sell them?

Sorry for three posts in a row but I couldn't find any edit function.

I like the Firma program but it doesn't let me assign different textures to top and bottom of floors. After creating the room segments using Firma, is it possible to load the room segments into another program and edit them?
