You can't create two sides to a floor, only to a wall, the floor gets covered in one texture only (unless you one image with two textures side by side and try that).

You can use 2 segments for the floor. The bottom for the ceiling, the top for the floor. Delete the top/bottom faces to optimize it and assign the two textures for ceiling and floor. Works quite well.

I use the Segment Editor tool from TGC. You can get it in downloads. (Sorry for bringing this up in the thread, I forgot where I was. )

Please continue with the topic. ~DF

As it happens I did write a one off version for Rebourn Games that would allow you to use different textures for the top surface and bottom surface of a floor segment. If you ask him nicely maybe he'll upload his Firma.exe for you.

Will there be a new version of Firma program that allows me to use different textures for top and bottom surfaces of floor segment. I wrote a program using Dark BASIC Pro to display the room segment but it was covered in one texture instead of three textures.

I wish that I can assign different textures to top and bottom of floors while creating room segments. That feature is in the floor segment creator only.

can you add a option to do the top and bottom of a floor texture on room segments - thanks for adding the double sided floor feature anyway - I've been segmenting away like mad lol

Ok, ok I give in lol.

I'll have a look and see if I can work out a way of texturing the top and bottom of the floors in a room segment. Making no promises though.

Gah, the new update download overwrote the original download, could you re-upload the original? Thanks.

Nah, I mean that I haven't downloaded the program before, there's no way to get the original without the updates, because to use the update in the first post requires the full thing to work... I think.

Hi,
I have used FIRMA and also MAGIC to create segments, FIRMA seem to create segments with textures in a lower resolution than MAGIC. I used the same texture on the same segment for both utilities and FIRMA was definately creating them with degraded texture resolution rather than MAGIC.

Have a go and try to compare them and you will see the differance in quality.

MAGIC is the one for me! hahahahahahahahahahaha

Firma is offered for free, and is a very good program it is capable of doing things magic cannot. Magic is also a good program but is not free. So I would say you get what you pay for. LOL
