Well that explains this light headedness I've had a lot recently... So...is anybody up to go out for a coffee?

Yup you know it! I haven't had a bad day in about 3 years now..every day has been so much fun and one big adventure, I see beauty in everything and that the world is precious and we should treat others as our family.

Well, considering a bad day in the typical western country is nothing compared to a bad day in 99% of the rest of the world, I kind of agree. Well, aside from treating everyone like family--- that's just a bit odd.

How far are you gonna go Rami? No water!?"

No food, drinking, sex, smoking or cursing.
You either fast or you don't .

Oh, and seeing Islam prohibits sex before marriage, I think I'll be able to handle that one just fine .

Dunno...calling people bastards behind their backs and not always getting along is quite what I had in mind, that's if you want us to act like a TRUE family...if you want your picture perfect unrealistic portrayal of a family - as long as it isn't like those in those horrible American sitcoms - then great I guess.

The way I see it, is that people's goal should be 'happiness' (And I use happiness in terms of something more long term) rather than 'pleasure' or 'desire', in general terms a truely happy person is a person who isn't mean, who cares about others and expresses compassion on others - their state of mind is basically avoiding any negativity and it doesn't matter what situation they're in, they're happy - take Christopher Reeve, he was a happy fellow after his accident and died a happy man, despite the major set back for him, while he was paralysed I think he did somethings dedicated to others like him. That probably is a good example of a happy celebrity who through tragedy manages to be decent and happy. I suppose I'm just talking out of the Dalai Lama's mouth but I think it's a non-religious goal people should try to achieve...unfortunately 'happiness' and 'pleasure' get mixed up too often...

Whoops, I just went off on one there, oh well, I've written my partially full opinion.

Wow, that's quite a big comparison you're making of yourself

Hehe, no, it was just I'm influenced by his speeches/teachings because they make sense, so I thought I'd mention them. The guy in my mind is someone people should listen to, so what if he's a Buddhist, he takes things into a non-religious way that applies to everybody no matter what you believe.

Although it is on local basis, Saudi-Arabia just declared that today was the last day of the Ramadan.

The ending of the Ramadan, and thus the start of the Ied Al-Fitr (Sugarfest) is dependant on the moon, just as the start of the Ramadan is. The Ramadan has ended when the first signs of the new moon are visible.

Now waiting for the report from Egypt.

Egypt just had their report coming in, no moon, thus the Ramadan will continue for one more day in Egypt - the Ied Al-Fitr starting after-tomorrow. I will be waiting for the Maroc conclusion in one hour.

To all muslims starting with the celebration tomorrow:

Congratulations , Ied Mobarak Kareem!

Congrats? I don't feel I've done anything...Oh wait...sorry yes, well to you all congrats, I wouldn't have survived that whole ordeal of not eating much, this might be why I have a slightly round belly.

Personally, I think it's a good thing the Ramadan, because it teaches a good sense of discipline and self-control, something that I need, although I am a Buddhist and most of it is about self-control, but hey, I'm getting there.

Means about the same as congratulations, Jeku. It translates to something along the lines of "Blessed and Joyous Holidays", I think.

You know Jeku? I don't think your remark was very kind. As a mod you shouldn't be making fun of other users. He's speaking in his native(for lack of a better word) language to other users who share his beliefs. When you (or someone else) posts a happy Easter thread this spring, I'm not going to go in there and make fun of what you believe about it. I just think that you should refrain from posting like that, especially since you wear a mod badge.

@Agent Dink - You are reading way into this--- ever heard of having a laugh? Don't take thing so seriously, you might have more fun in life

I was supportive of this fast the entire thread--- just take a read for yourself. As a Christian I know of people at my old church who fasted too.

Rich said this himself: it is not the mod's job to be bastions or moral perfectness. We are moderators and users at the same time. I can have a laugh at people the same way others can have a laugh in other threads. Why do we have to be so serious when there's a thread like this? Have fun-- it's a "hobby" forum for a reason.

--------

Congrats to all who fasted and lasted.
