Ah, if people are shocked by COD6, then that's a good thing, it demonstrates that the game portrays some of the horror involved with terrorism - perhaps COD is a statement of war, containing both its sense of 'honour' or duty and its horrors too?
Add that, come on, Jack Bauer has do some some pretty screwed up stuff in 24 - heck in season 7 the US court tries to make him accountable for his crimes. Shock is sometimes used to achieve a desired reaction in art - sometimes even to make a statement, and well, we can easily argue that games are a type of contemporary art. Film and TV work by similar means, hence 24.
Also, this week I've been converted into an anime geek...*sigh* shoot me now, it seems my anime friends have won. I found a few animes that I think had a good plot and were interesting - I've watched the first 7 episodes of Full Metal Alchemist, and I like it. I've still got to watch some more Death Note and Hellsing.
So I am 2 kinds of geeks now...ah, before long, I'll no longer be cool and will be living in my mother's basement...even though she doesn't have one...oh God what does that mean!?
