Ah, I told my cat not to buy so many of those.

As much fun as Unreal is, using Blueprints for "programming" actually overcomplicates things.

For example, say you want to create a 3d vector that holds the position of something, and then you want to adjust only the height of that object. You have to...

1) - Find the node that "breaks" the original vector
2) - Find the node that will allow you to add the values into another vector from the original vector
3) - Finally add the nodes that will let you do what you want to do

In Unity, I can do it as easily as this:

And that's that. Easy, and takes about 10 seconds to type.

I think I am going to stick with Unity for my game projects.

Macros are your friend. Make them early, use them often.

Or just use C++ Unreal rather than be exclusively in Blueprint. You can mix and match them.

OS X Yosemite is GORGEOUS.

However I feel they could have improved a few things a bit more... but in general it's a nice upgrade and a good facelift, something which Apple doesn't do too often. Finally that faux-silver-shony grossness is gone and replaced with something better, haha

I scrolled down and I can't see any way to vote. All I see is a link to google play store and a link to some other website.

Nice job at explaining.

Haha, the Unity 4.6 beta is more stable on my iMac than the most recent version of Unreal Engine is on my PC.

That actually makes me kinda sad... but I think Unity is the best engine to use for my game because I want to be able to target the web, and Unreal doesn't do that.

I JUST REALIZED WHY THEY NAMED IT UNITY, IT'S BECAUSE OF HOW MANY PLATFORMS THEY SUPPORT!!!!!!

I have made some custom methods that will save a vector using Unity's PlayerPrefs class. HA!!!

Calling those methods is as simple as...

A programmer goes to the store. His wife says, "Buy one loaf of bread, and if they have eggs, buy a dozen."

The programmer goes to the store, and comes back with 12 loaves of bread.

I did something similar in my first game.

I didn't know of arrays or for loops so every enemy was a separate variable called enemy<n>. To make them do stuff, Each enemy had its own identical code with the only diffirence being the number. It was a great way to learn the use of for loops and arrays though.

Yeah me too. I remember wishing for many months that there was a way to create code from a number so I could do "messageVar+number" instead of having to do "messageVar1, messageVar2, etc." Then when I was exploring the DBPro docs I finally came across the article on arrays and my mind was blown.

Indeed, that was my first project, and it was a right mess... when I learned about for-loops I almost cried with joy!

And that programming egg joke, that cracked me right up!
