Dude, lay off. No need to get angry because of his sig.

To clarify, Warhammer is a turn based table top game (I believe originally from England) that has two branches; the fantasy type which is the original and Warhammer 40k, which has space marines and what not.

I used to play Warhammer, as Beastmen, but they sucked hard and I never won a single game with them. That, plus the outrageous prices on the models made me never play it again.

That's exactly what it is and I think originl warhammer is really cheap now i saw battle box said more than 100 models and cost same as 40k battle set with 34 models

It's Elves, darn it, ELVES!!!

Sorry, I'm overly touchy on the spelling of that word. And yes, I realize both are technically *right*, but still, rawr!

Elves/Eldar are the best, however.

I bought a lot of Warhammer stuff a few years back. I was really into painting the figures, but never really played the game.

I did get into another Games Workshop game though: BloodBowl
That game was a lot of fun. I've always considered trying to make a Bloodbowl style game with DBpro. I know there was an "official" one a few years ago, but it was done pretty bad.

My brother is pretty heavily into Warhammer 40k, it's pretty cool but way too expensive. I used to play BloodBowl a fair bit years ago but I can't even remember the rules anymore.

@SSS - Keep up that attitude and get another ban.

I am *loving* the Dawn of War Warhammer RTS games. Just bought the complete set on Steam and enjoying it immensely.

Dawn of War is a really great game, it's well worth it for $20.

My friends are still really into it, I used to collect the High Elves in Warhammer, but the price is just outrageous, some models were $70 each! Others were like $50 for 5 smaller ones.

But, painting was the fun in it, with the occasional battle with friends..... now this thread will probably get me bringing out the paints and getting messy again!

NECRONS!
Theyre the best of the best!
I collect necrons and im starting out some wood elves, just begun to paint my battalion.
I would say look at the pictures on my website, but there was some server error and i have yet to re-upload them.
Still, go see the warhammer section on my website.

I consider myself to be more of a painter than a player.

I took down a land raider in the first turn, and in a different game a massive battlewagon in one session of firing.

I used to be an Outrider for GW, still have a ton of minis. I gave up playing when their buisness model became "release a new army codex that makes said army far superior to all previous armies so people buy the new figures". They also killed off my favorite line Epic 40k.

Generally you use a black or white spray as an undercoat then paint over the top, but having said that, there's no real rules on what way to paint.

It depends on what brand of spray paint you use.
Personally i dont think it would flake unless very old or badly handle, so you generally dont need to paint black over a black undercoat.
But if youre really serious about the life of your model, you should pick up a bottle of matt or gloss varnish and layer the areas you want sealed.

pfft! ya'll are crazy if you don't recognise the Angels of Death (blood angels and dark angels to those newbies, and uneducated in the ways of 40k) are the hardest bunch of SoBs in the universe.

shoot, they go hunting for tyranids in floating piles of garbage for kicks; and those who go mad from battle don't leave the army or get shot like the other armies. they get their armour painted black and get sent back in to battle to focus that can'o'crazy on the enemy until they fall!

and in-case you hadn't guessed the blood angels are my army of choice. nope they don't have the best tech, they're not the strongest either... but damn they make up for it in crazy. what other army would rather than putting a bigger long-range weapon on a slow moving dreadnought, fit two powerfists to it so it can rip things apart with it's "bare hands" so to speak. man gotta give 'em props.

can't say i've really played the actual game mind. got sick and tired of the rules changing everything year; then when the new codex came out with the "new and improved wh40k" battle system in think it was 2001; just totally lost interest in the battling part of it. Necrons ruined the game totally as well, although the Tau added a nice element; the Necrons were just far too powerful especially considering the point cost difference. Absolutely no balance in the gameplay. It was the same when warp powers were first introduced with dark millennium.. too them almost 6years to get them right. In the mean time space wolves and eldar just owned, on no other merit than their psyches.

i find collecting armies, and painting them quite relaxing. although it has becoming more and more expensive in recent years.. i mean when the models were ALL lead, then fair enough; but they moved to plastic and somehow the costs increased? i'm sure thats' what has pushed many of the old rogue trader players (like myself) mostly if not completely out.

I reckon it would look awesome.
If you have DOW you could paint your army with the scheme and see how it looks, or if you dont you could use this

I've got DOW demo and its got space marine army able to paint and it looks good but i thot desert + space battles =?????

--EDIT--
I had an idea for a great game, its like DOW but a simulator of 40k career like a more in depth painter, and realistic 40k battle system and maybe in beggining there could be the option of 40k or fantasy, and money youd start out with o say 100 dollars and when u win tourneys u get more money to buy a bigger army

Oh boy... I hope you're not planning on making that idea into reality? I say this namely because a) an RTS isn't particularly easy and b) I'm doubtful of your skill. If this was just a random idea blurted out, then I'm down with that.
