It seems that it's better if a non-mod does this according to IanM, so since I think it's good to find a good place for tutorials that people can refer to (seeing as they dont by searching), I have created this thread

I will put tutorials in as I go. If you have a tutorial that you think is useful, please just post and I will put it in the thread.

Good work already! I've unstickied BatVinks thread so that this one can now take its place.

Something you can do to make things easier to read: You can use [ url=http://linkdetails]Description[ /url] (without the extra spaces of course) to make better looking links, and you can still surround the url with bold tags too if you wish.

Just drop me or one of the other non-FPSC mods an email if you need anything cleaning up in this thread.

I'd also suggest that you add a few place-marker posts as soon as you can as each post has a size limit - I don't know whether you will reach that limit (IIRC it's 64kb), but it's better to be sure

Cool, I've added it in

Quote: "Something you can do to make things easier to read: You can use [ url=http://linkdetails]Description[ /url] (without the extra spaces of course) to make better looking links"

I thought about it, but I dont think it would look that good, as it would just look like a big list. I prefer this way because each link can be made more conspicuous.

@Geoff123
You'd just have to convert the character into its Ascii equivalent
n = Asc(char$) then do a numerical sort on that.

*note: this should have been posted in it's own thread...

Mist seeker,

Just keep learning. Eventually you will get to the level where programming a game is relativelly easy, even if a bit long.

All the tutorials in this thread should help you, especially with a big game

Don't you just hate that Zotoaster guy?

I've posted a new video tutorial at http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=153757&b=7&p=0 (tutorial number 9)

It's discribes how to use GIMP and DarkBASIC Professional together to make a menu, it also demonstrates how to use Alpha (transparancy) and avoid distorted background images

I have been buying Game Creators for a few years now and I have never once used them. I have used mainly visual studio from scratch or Torque. Recently Garage Games, the makers of Torque have asked me to pay $700 for the newest update.

I have been working on my project for a few years and the further I get, the more behind I get in the on the system capabilities. To fix this, I would upgrade the software and take a few steps back. I am still making progress but, it is starting to cost me a lot of money.

Now if the T3D is a huge upgrade, it will take me several months to port my game to my satisfaction. The really question is, should I take this opportunity to switch to DB Pro?

It might take longer, but I have seen what DB Pro can do. The best feature is that I already bought it.

If anyone has had similar trials, please respond.

I am interested in re-using some of the code provided in the Huge Dungeons tutorial. Please advise if I am allowed to re-use some/any/all code from the tutorials, and the rules governing this.

i.e. do I need to include credit for this within my readme file, game credits screen, etc...

Sincerely,
Derek Bain
