Just ordered a Moog Etherwave Exploration Theremin!

It's on backorder for two weeks so it'll take a while to get here. It comes with an amp, mic stand, bag, instructional DVDs, etc. As far as I know nobody in Canada gives lessons for a theremin so I'm on my own. I've wanted one for at least 8 years.

If you don't know what it is, this is what it looks like:

You play this instrument without touching it--- it has an antenna for volume and an antenna for pitch. You move your hands to play the mono sound. You can hook it up to a guitar pedal for effects, or just go straight to an amp.

Some Youtube videos if you're interested:

Lydia Kavina - Claire De Lune --- She's one of the best Theremin players in the world

An excellent performer having some fun:

Gnarls Barkley Cover --- theremin with some kind of filter

Don't Worry, Be Happy cover -- Performed over multiple tracks--- don't be fooled, a Theremin is mono

Awesome Dorit Chrysler - Sustain Me --- sooo cool!

$559 US--- our dollar is par with the States, but it still costs more in Canada, so I ordered it from the US. Problem solved

Oh a theremin! I thought it was a new drug they've got on market... I was going to say, you crazy Canadian.

But yes, these things are funky, Bill Bailey uses them in his shows and of course I immediately thought 'I want one!'. Weird people like me could have hours of fun with something like that.

However a little expensive for a man with such a simple mind, maybe when my hair recedes and I can do a Bill Bailey tribute act.

Whoa! I've never even heard of that thing. Haha. Then again, I've never heard of pretty much anything that isn't located in my living room.

I think one of the guys in victor wooten's band used one of those.(which was a great concert btw)

When I saw theremin, my first thought was the other weird instrument with glass. I forget the name, but often called the devil's instrument I believe.

So what made you buy one?

Pretty Zany that is, but I'm not willing to cough up that much until the Canadian dollar is 2 to 1 with the US.

Your about to get pwned.

Do you mean the Glass armonica?

I always thought the Devil's Instrument was the violin.

Well it will arrive at the end of the month, and it will take me a long time to be able to play anything. But I will make a recording if and when I do something half decent
