Quote: "I have heard that, and have tried that as well, but that setup comes down to having serious equipment like a really really good amp and phenominal multiple mics, one on the speaker and one a few feet away, then theres the whole "open mic" issue to deal with."

Careful with multiple mics as you can run into phase problems. Dink if you want a good solid not so expensive mic to record your amp a Shure SM57 is a great bet. If you record with a mic assuming you are doing so from home, pick a room that will really deaden and absorb the sound from your amp (lots of plushy furntiture and all) Reflections can cause you a major problem. As another note, and you may already know this) when you record make your input levels are low enough that you avoid the Square Wave effect.

@Hobgoblin. I really know nothing of recording, but my bro is an expert on it. As I said before, he had a recording studio with all the equipment. He's done some really awesome quality recordings. If I ever get into recording I'll just use his stuff, but I may consider buying the one amp box that hooks up to my PC using direct input from the guitar. Sure, not an authentic sound, but it still sounds really good.

That was the "external" thing i was talking about in my thread a while ago, only i got the TonePort UX2. Yeah, it has a bunch of cool effects, but it's even better with a vox 120 watts amp attached.

I like nice solo shreddy electric rock guitar kind of stuff..

I just recorded this just there, and the quality isnt too good, but isn't too bad either.

Hope you enjoy it. Whoever disagrees with some nice harmonisation anyway, heh

Cheers for the comment Benjamin and Cattle Rustler.

Here are some more songs I've taught myself. The are obviously not my songs, Just me playing them:

Mario Overworld song:
http://www.myexpo.co.uk/music/mario.mp3

Zelda's Lullaby:
http://www.myexpo.co.uk/music/lullaby.mp3

A few mistakes as I've only recently learned them. They aren't multi-tracked either. Enjoy!

I just received a roasting about my track from Chris Franklin, about how he can play so much better than me, and how much faster than me he is (comparison: He was finding it tremendously hard today to play ACDC - Thunderstruck). I know it's not the real him talking, and maybe he feels a bit intimidated, but, my gawd I'm really insulted

@benjamin: Thanks for your comments!

Actually, the bass player sucked it all, but he just played that night (we have a much better one now).

And about singer, she is my sister and that was a long time before she had singing lessons, I think we play it better now and will be recording a demo soon (this one is almost 1 year old).

Glad you liked it

and also at all the other people going on about multi effects pedals and suchlike...

Do you not find the sounds really artificial?

To be honest I just stick with a couple of guitars and a marshall, I don't really use pedals, but I prefer generally the sounds of analogue pedals to the digital ones.

I might just have to think about that. I've just read some reviews on that microphone and people say it's very good. Thanks for the tip.

@Zotoaster: You sound pretty good. What kind of stuff do you usually play?

@BiggAdd: Nicely played. Did you record that acoustically or with some kind of synth? It's a really nice sound.

@Mr Makealotofsmoke: Interesting piece of music. The recording is quite good, my only criticism is that on some parts the tempo of the guitar isn't so even (or at least it sounds like that to me). Try recording to a click track, you'll find keeping a steady rhythm is easier.

Oh, good. I look forward to hearing that demo.

Cheers! Its actually a synth. It does a great job... although I wouldn't turn down the offer of a free grand piano.

Your stuff is great. I love jazzy music. Is it all recorded acoustically?

Here is a new song I've just learned. You might be able to recognize it. Still needs a lot of work though:

For a synth it's a very good, it sounds similar to a Clavinova actually.

Thanks. It's all recorded on the Kawai digital piano that we have.

That music sounds familiar, what is it?
