Here in this Post you can download the segment 'road system' and in the next few Posts are some screenshots.

It's fairly easy to use and I hope you can find a good use for it.
By the way, you can look into the 'drain' segments on the road.

NOTE - Please read the install instructions and 'How to Use' files that I have provided.

I hope you like it and good luck.

You can get the '1 lane' version 'Penny Lane' here:

Is it possible to change the crocodile into something else? If so, how?

To all

Thanks for the comments,I'm pleased that you can use this in some way or other considering that the system has a few limitations.

M Man

Sorry mate, the crocodile is just a flat texture (not entitie).

Nickydude

Cheers, the crocodile drain is just a little extra I thought I would include but yes, you can put all sorts of things in the drains by just going down a level in the editor.

If I get some time I will do another variation of this road system, if you think it can be useful

All the best to you all plus its been great seeing your good work on the Forums

Thanks again for comments

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Here are two more screenshots of some 'skeletons' having a meeting in a drain.

It's a bit hit or miss placing objects in the drain segment (doesnt show up in 'shroud') but lighting works in them OK as well.

Cheers

Ross

I am a big fan of your work so, downloading it now.

Since it is called the 'Abby Road' Pack shouldn't there be beetles in the drain. lol

Ross, can i impose on your amazing talent for three requests?

1/. A drain segment without anything underneath, so we can see straight through? This would be ideal for anyone making a sewer system with light from above coming through the drain (Butters LYTE:FX would be ideal here).

2/. A road segment with a manhole cover that can be removed? (the manhole cover as a separate entity?) This way the player can remove the cover and drop down into the sewer below.

3/. A single road segment, as in one lane (like you've done with a single pavement), as I have road works that take one lane of road.

I know I'm being a bit pushy here

but you do such awesome work that those few bits would really put the icing on the cake (as it were).

I bet at least two of them are unavailable...Paul surely should have shown up.He's getting divorced and needs all of the spare change he can get...and you'll have to forgive Ringo...the '60s (and some of the '70s) did him in...

I have downloaded this pack and hope to have the chance to check it out shortly.I have no doubt that will be as good as your other work.Thanks.

Please have mercy and use the search function.

Sorry mate,I'm afraid that the drain idea and the 'manhole' will not work with these road segments in relation to the 'height' of the road to the pavement.Adding standard rooms below these segments dosn't work well because of the heights of the road segments. This would work with a 'Flat' paved road but you would loose the sense of stepping off the pavement and onto the road.
However, I am constructing a 'single' lane system for you at the moment and will Post when ready (soon).

You can use them however you want.

Whatever happend to Ringo anyhow, not to mention the 'likley lads'.

Ross, thanks, that's very much appreciated (as always) but I'm not sure I follow you about height? I realise that they are not 'full' segments and would be a bit of trial and error trying to make a sewer system fit well underneath, but I would certainly have a go (perhaps using entities to patch any gaps).

Perhaps I'm misreading (and it wouldn't be the first time ), is it not possible to remove the sewer section bit from the drain segment?

It is exceptional work by the way, I've replaced the entire road sections in my game "he is coming..." with yours.

To get the drain segment 'without' the room below just copy & rename the drain FPS file and BMP icon, then open the FPS file and 'delete' the last '6' parts and change the 'partmax & lastmeshmax' at the top of the FPS file from '11' to '5'.
This will give you the segment you are after but don't forget to create a notepad entry with the new name of the segment for the 'language bank'.

I will Post the new 'single lane' road system in a couple of hours from now under a new Post name. I'm calling it 'Penny Lane'.

By the way I'm glad you have found a use for them.

I'll be back in a flash.

I'm having a slight problem in that any enemies I place on the road / pavement just run on the spot, they can seem to run along the road / pavement. Is anyone else having this trouble?

I had mentioned this issue in the 'read me' file supplied with the download. These road systems are realy just for looks and for your main character to interact with.
In order to acheive a multi part segment with different height levels which do not interact whith buildings (walls disapearing) I had to make this compromise.
However, I am at present creating a 'huge' Pack of these road systems with different Themes and will look into this issue futher.
This is something to do with 'segment bluprint' but after many tests I still havn't found a way to get the enemies to interact with the roads but i'm sure there must be a way.
I havn't given up yet on solving this problem but in the meantime could you all please read any information supplied with these road systems because it does contain details on the useability of the roads.

Sorry about that Nickydude.

PS.. The Abby Road & Penny Lane road systems are also included in my 'Wip Road Rage Pack, but are much more extensive and will include any new segments which the enemies can interact with OK, when and if I get to the bottom of this issue.

All the very best

This pack is very useful. The textures are nice. I especially like the crocodile.

Now I really want to build some roads...and YES, we desperately need working vehicles in FPSC!

Thanks for your comments guys.

A much more versatile version of 'Abby Road' and it's single lane type 'Penny Lane' are also included in the much bigger 'Road Rage Pack' which also has road systems with 'Sci-fi and WW2' Themes.

I recomend that you download this 'Road Rage' Pack before you use the road system supplied in this post.
I had trouble trying to upload the Rage Pack so you can find it in 'Nickydudes' post at this link below:

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=117036&b=24

Ps..there are two download links in Nickydudes post for you to use. One is at the top and the other is a little further down the page.
