I was taking a look at your semicircular desk and I was wanting to change the texture to give it a gree top, but I can't

The file it references for the texture is a tga file, but this file does not exist and there is a dds texture file, but this is not referenced in the fpe I hope your following

I changed the dds texture file and then referenced the fpe to this new file, but it doesn't update. Any advice would be appreciated

thanks

now try removing the entity from the game and then replacing it, see what that does.

Alternatively, close and reopen FPSC, and then try it. Also, try doing a system search of your FPS Creator folder for the missing texture. This might help.

Also, right click the entity and change it in the texture box.

I will give it a try guys

Edit, tried your suggestions and no joy. The texture will not change... Is there any change that since it such a simple texture that he is just referencing the value within the .x file itself. I can't figure this out.

I have never had trouble changing a texture on anything before

Do I need to recreate the entity using entitymaker and applying the texture that way? I am not sure why that would make any difference though

This isn't just darkfact, I have also found this problem now with alot of entities and segments. I just went to edit the stairs and they also point to .tga files that don't exist. I even did a search for all hidden files on my computer using *.tga and they are not on my computer, but the textures applied work just fine and they are showing up in the game.

If I edit the texture and repoint to an actual file, it doesn't change the texture. I have even saved and the rebooted my computer thinking it could be caching. No avail

Some segments and entities do work, but I would say more than half of the entities or segments whether provided by private parties or tgc they have this problem.

It's almost like they were designed this way to keep people from editing the textures.

Is there anyway to edit .dbo files and .bin What application do I need?

Ok, I'll give of summary of how the textures work:

1)I know it says '.tga' but it will use a dds file in preference

2)all diffuse (standard textures) should follow the format name_d2.dds. The _d2 is important

3)You need to delete the .bin and .dbo file before it accepts the texture changes. Note DELETE. They are generated again from within the editor.

4)I suggest you duplicate the .fps/.fpe and make it a separate segment, it might not like changing existing ones.

That should cover it, I've had problems with textures not appearing before.

That's right @Avid.
I can also add that 1.07 automatically generates a *.dds file for each texture you are using (*.tga, *.bmp *.jpg ...). So when you want to replace a texture you have to delete the *.dds file first (I think you've already done that)
