Wouldn't it be nice to have one of these for WIP and Program Announcements? I don't know how many times I have wanted to rate a thread and it would actually count for something.

Does anyone else agree?

Nah, from what i've observed from similar systems, people often rate based on their interests. The thread itselfs may be jolly good, informative and have no coffee jokes, but if 75% of the members aren't interested in guitar hero, it will be rated trash. Rating systems like that can be misleading and doesn't really serve a good purpose overall. If people learn to make correct titles on their threads, people who are interested will check it out no matter what rating it has.

My 3 pennys.

Haven't we been through this discussion atleast a 100 times before? hehe.

Anyway, I agree about what Grandma said, and also you may have people abusing it, like rating it trash just for the sake of it. There isn't really any need in a thread rating system if you ask me.

Point 8 of my advice thread gives you a very helpful strategy for taking advantage of a thread rating system.

.. Which is one of the reasons it wouldn't be a good idea.

Actually, just to act the Devil's advocate, there's a system that's used on the MSDN forum where you can rate a single post's usefulness with regards to the problem, it saves an awful lot of time when searching through threads to find a relevant post when you've got people like Ben making stupid posts...

I think someone's just mad because they can't compete with my humour.

Indeed, you can't compete with something that's nonexistent

Which is one other thing that Kentaree wastes his/her life sitting in front of.

I can guarantee you that the userbase of that forum is much more mature than that of this forum.

Unfortunatly.

@Drew: Mostly work actually, don't have much time for TV nowadays...

Jess, I must agree, but it does add to the personality of this forum, being serious 100% of the time isn't good either
