Did anyone else see the Lost Book of Nostradamus special on the History Channel last night? I think it can be summed up in one word: Rubbish! They showed a book filled with images that were allegedly created either by Nostradamus or his son based on Nostradamus' visions that didn't make it into his famous quatraints. The images (some of which are shown here) allegedly show the World Trade Centers being destroyed on 9/11 (image 12), the assassination attempt on Pope John Paul II (image 9), and the beheading of Marie Antoinette and her hubby (image 3). But I just don't see it when I look at these images, and I truly believe people are seeing what they want to see.

Am I being overly-skeptical and not looking at these images the right way, or am I not alone in thinking these images could really mean anything? I propose we try something that could prove to be pretty fun. Everyone should make an image that's as non-specific as humanly possible and post it in this thread. A year from now, we should return to this thread and go through the images and see how many of our "predictions" have happened during the year. I'm willing to bet that every serious image posted here could be associated directly with events to come.

I thought about watching it, but decided it wasn't worth the time. Like you, I think a lot of it is just what they want to see. And his predictions are so vague and metaphorical they could be a lot of things.

I can't make an image atm, however I'll make my own prediction....

"In the year 2007, there will be a great count down to come. It will signal something new, something that has been waiting for a year..."

We'll see if I am right about this prediction... In addition, I will add more detail!

"There will be many intoxicated with a drink some call 'divine'."

That's all I can say, my visions are too good for my self!

Yeah, those pictures can be interpreted as many many different events which have happened...
People can get so wrapped up in conspiracy theoreys and suchlike. I even saw this clip on youtube with someone folding a dollar note in a certain way and making a 'picture of the twin towers in flames' appear....

I fail to see what this has to do with conspiracy theories. People use their imaginations, they see the pictures and draw lines in their mind to random events in history that might have something in common and believe Nostradamus knew. People can believe in alot of things, i do however think that's a fact and not a theory.

Dear Matt.

You're a little late. I've seen this stuff on TV long ago.

Yeah, until we reach the year 2012, I think Nostradamus is going to start putting out new books every year like Tupac did/ does. 2012 is the conspiracy nutters year-long holiday, and Nostradamus is their metaphorical ring leader . And History Channel lost some points with me, playing into the 2012 thing as much as they've been doing lately.

About the Lost Book of Nostradamus? The commercials they started airing last month were the first I'd heard of it, where did you see stuff about this?

Alright, to kick off the image-showing, I'm going to whip something up in MS Paint as quickly as I can, upload it to photobucket, and put it into this thread. I predict an edit of this post soon, muah ha ha.

Edit: Okay, here it is...

I'm such an awesome artist. So yeah, there's my prediction image. Now, taking this literally would mean a red sun would show up and a big purple sad face would float over whatever city that's supposed to be . But I guarantee one year from now there'll be something that this could have "predicted" lol.

Ooh I might have a go at that. I'm rubbish at art though and I have no art programmes on my computer so it looks like it's gotta be DarkBASIC or ASCII art :S

They had all this stuff floating around and talked about quite a lot at 9/11 - one of my mates completely believed that he'd predicted everything, he said something about keeping it vague so as not to confuse or scare people at the time who would think he was crazy if he started talking about planes and skyscrapers and the like.

I might have watched it were it not on at the same time as game 4 of the World Series. I had my reservations about what it would be like since it sounded more likely that it was a bunch of malarky used to sell ad time.

This is eerie as hell, but I drew a picture of a ham salad sandwich this morning, and you'll never guess what I had for lunch!.

File me under Skeptical with this stuff, I mean some of those drawings were just stupid, actually looks like the work of someone smoking opium. I personally put more faith in those little orange fishes you get in xmas crackers, they can predict all sorts of things just by curling up in your palm.

The book with the turning pages was cool. It caught me by surprise when I saw that the animation actually had the right words on it, then I was really surprised to see that I could move the page like a piece of paper by dragging it to the other side. Pretty cool. What's freaky is that Nostrodomos KNEW that this electronic version of his book would be that cool. That's about the only useful thing that I saw.

Nostradamus is just dumb, and so is anybody who believes him. You could sit on you butt all day blurting out random sentences of what "could" of happened, and eventually something you say will, it doesn't mean you knew it would though.

Your about to get pwned.

hehe you must have MS Paint at least, and whatever you make can't possibly be as bad as my image . Hobgoblin put some serious effort into his image, I could never make anything that good. Just look at my website lol, the very apex of my artistic ability.

Quote: "Japan invades an unknown city and all of it's populace are sad."

So if that happens, I predict I'll feel bad for drawing the image, you'll feel bad for specifically saying what was going to happen, and we'll all feel sad that we had ample time to warn the world. That, or we'll just giggle at the irony, it's a toss up for me lol.

I would rather giggle

Hobgoblin, a man will walk 3 miles to the nearest town in the evening and he might get hit by a car on a narrow country road in wales, especially near Beddgelert

(That could be half true. After my 18th, I went to wales with a friend. We went on a walk across the hills and he managed to "hurt" his ankle, the big girl. So I had to go running down the damn hill side (over cliff sides and through a bog) to call the police to come pick him up, but the silly git had moved because he thought a rattle snake was going to get him)

I had a dream last night, related to snakes, probably because I ate a banana before bed.

There was a 10 foot long Corn snake in my bed (I hate them now after mine went crazy and tried to eat my finger ), so I went and got a knife and tried killing it, but I ended up choking it and later tied string around its head.

Some weird dream, but I've had a few of them about Corn snake

Now can this be some thing Nostradamus could have dreamt up and wrote down in his book? Maybe an assassination of a king?

Maybe the book Nostradamus kept was just a log of dreams he had and people took it thinking it was what the future held :\

When I had my.. twelve years of age, my friends and I used to call Nostradamos "Nós tratamos":

Nós tratamos = We deal with. Somehow, it can mean "We make fool of you" ^^

Well.. I am surprised by the fact that someone took the subject seriously enough to create a book about it. ^^

Actually, "KKK" sounds like laugh in our language. We do not support Ku Klux Klan. I would kill KKK if it was a man. Cheers.

All of this talk of snakes must mean that we, as a community, are conjoining our psychic powers and predicting that someone will happen with snakes in the next year . Maybe someone will use snakes as a terror weapon, or worse... maybe they'll make a sequel to Snakes on a Plane? Either way, I think we're on to something lol.

Quote: "We have them all over here too, and kids catch them."

Aren't rattlesnakes dangerous/ deadly, or is that a misnomer from the spaghetti western movies of the 1950's? I've never actually seen a rattlesnake other than on television. People say you can find them in upstate NY but I've never come across one. Then again, I don't go out into the wilderness very often, hehe.

Yes, they are dangerous, and from what I understand poisonous. <If you like westerns, you should find some time to watch "The Good, the Bad, and The Ugly", I like that movie >

Easily Clint Eastwood's best movie . I love westerns, especially the spaghetti westerns of the 50's. Silly when you're an adult (they've been on the trail for how many months, and yet they aren't dirty?), but as a kid they were one of my favorite types of movies/ shows to watch. I must've seen every episode of Bonanza at least five times, hehe.

Haha Bonanza, they had like the coolest theme song ever. I used it in my first game "Bin VS Bush" which i made in game maker some years ago, good times.

I get the feeling this thread has gone offtopic.

Personally I always thought High Plains Drifter was his best western.

Edit: though my favorite western is Blazing Saddles
