Get ready for a delightful story!

Alright, I got my Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 in the mail today, and this is my first time installing a processor. I had looked up videos on YouTube on safety/damage from ESD, and other crap like that.. So, I opened up my PC, had a hard time getting the heatsink off, because my graphics care/wires were in the way, so I unplugged that stuff. I got the heatsink off, took the old CPU out, put the new one in. I was really nervous about ruining something, so when I put the panel back on and plugged it in just to hear it scream at me, I wasn't too pleased.. That was actually really terrifying.. So, I ran in circles screaming, and when I finally calmed myself down with some death metal, I opened up the PC again to check to see if anything was wrong.. I was sitting there staring at it for about 10 minutes thinking I had to have done something wrong. I though "Did I ruin the pins?", "Was the loud beeping just in my head.....?", and "Why didn't I plug the graphics card back in?"

The End!

You know what? That could have been what was wrong with my old Linux computer... The fan probably wasn't plugged in <Not too mention there was also literally a GIANT dust ball sitting on the CPU when I went to clean it out for the first time in 5 years>.

Last week my PC started making a weird noise, like a dull whirring noise followed by beeping. So I opened up the PC and had a look around, couldn't see anything wrong at first, then I looked inbetween the GFX card and sound card, and a family of squirrels had actually made a nest there!. Worked fine after I scraped out all the straw and acorns but it certainly gave me a freight.

The beeps tell you what piece of hardware isn't working correctly.

It wasn't really just a beep, it was more of a "BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP", it went on forever and ever and ever..

A similar thing happened to me when a USB cable was touching the back panel of the PC and sparking. I think I'm quite lucky nothing broke.
