It's funny how the game i play the most wasn't responsible for my favourite online gaming experience.

I think the greatest fun I had online was with Deus Ex, A slow paced, tactical deathmatch with plenty of sneaking and hiding. Funnily enough the game I play now is the complete opposite, a fast paced kill-or-be-killed game ( UT2004 / UT3 )

Which game gave you the best memories / most fun online ? And is it still your favourite game ?

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is my favourite online multiplayer game. I've played it since 2003 and it's been the most fun to play. I play it with one of my internet friends, who I have known for years, so we are always on teamspeak and it makes it more fun when you can say stuff to some one when you kill or get killed

I have to say Alien Vs Predator 2, addictive multiplayer and servers are still running today (although the graphics look outdated by todays standard).

Second most played was Halo PC ... Halo 2 PC was a flop really with the "Vista only" badge and "pay to play" multiplayer.

I am currently playing Team Fortress 2 a lot and on ranked servers, I specially like playing on 2Fort map.

Sounds quite fun, with an internet friend.

I mostly play around with HL mods now. At the moment I play BrainBread, where you and the other players shot zombies and just try and survive. If an zombie hurt you so you get down to 1 hp, then you´ll slowly transform into one and must eat brains (which means killing marines, Barnys or other players) to become human again.

I like how an huge mob of zombies slowly walk towards me, and then I burn them all with the flamethrower .

But I have played it for some time now and it´s getting a bit boring in the long run.

EDIT:

I really want Team Fortress 2! But I cannot afford it right now . But maybe next month... or wait... maybe I have the money for it after all!

By far Live For Speed. I played so many hours on that. Never been so engaged, never had to learn so much and try so hard. Would get so bloody hot and actually sweat with the level on concentration and effort required. And I'd end up with a headache and square eyes. Nothing comes close. In contrast, single player it's not too great, as the AI isn't too good.

I would have to say Halo3. Its a good game to lark about on, especially if your good at it. My brother and our mates always do a bit of slayer and always end up having a good laugh.

The only thing that lets it down though is the Americans. No offense to you guys, but most of you are just tea bagging idiots online... I don't understand why you do it. You can't seem to loose or win a game with good grace.

Also Battlefield 2 is pretty good.

heyhey!

Don't hate an entire population of 300 mill+ because of a few idiots who can't behave. I hate generalizing.

best MP experience would still be System Shock 2. Good times.

I'm not saying all Americans, I'm saying the people who are all are sore losers and winners. I said Americans because I've come across no one else who behaves in the same way. It was a lot worse on Halo 2.

I rather like aliens versus predator 2 multiplayer. The graphics whilst dated, dont look too bad by todays standards, and they are still very clear.

I support more freeware games online, such as Soldat or Americas Army, which is sadly populated with Americans, hence the name, but good fun. Soldat is only 2D, but has a lot of variety and is surprisingly addictive. Americas Army (AA) is a great online FPS, and has some awesome strategy elements in it to make it a really great experience.

Both games are free, check them out!

Once it was fun in BrainBread, when I asked if anyone could kill me and someone responded "with plasure". That was quite fun.

Probably Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. Hadn't even heard of it until I found it came with my 8800GT, but now I'm hooked. I like the team based element, rather than just a bunch of random people running around doing nothing. Decent graphics, too.

AMD 4800+ (2.5GHz dual core), 3GB RAM (667 MHz), 320GB HD (7200 RPM), EVGA 8800GT Superclocked (factory OC'd @650 MHz, OC'd to 700 MHz), HP 22" Widescreen LCD, Vista Home Premium

I just play CS 1.6 with the first clan I came across...lucky for me they recruit based on character instead of skill...so I got in. ^.^ Another thing that makes it more enjoyable is that the server doesn't tolerate trash talking/racism/harassment, so it's easier to just have a good time.

(As for the Americans comment, meh, I'm American but that's not me, but you're more right than you're wrong)

Halo 3 is amazing. Enough said.

Gears of War is also one of my favorite games, and the multiplayer really stood out because of the small teams and tactical combat.

Waiting to get CoD 4.

The reason I originally got internet was for Red Alert 2 multiplayer.

Most fun I have had online is a tricky one, there have been a few games I've enjoyed loads, RA2, Rainbow Six: Rouge Spear (sniper lobby - use to mod maps for it), Battlezone 2 (they should make more games like this), Imperial Galactica 2 (heh, a single game of this could last days and there was no feature to save online games to continue later), that multiplayer mod for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Guild Wars all come to mind.

Not really playing any online games much at the moment (except for poker on the 360) though, I play Team Fortress 2 occasionally which is a lot of fun, but hasn't really hooked me like other games. I'm looking forward to that Zombie co-op game, forget the name (Left 4 Dead maybe?), and Natural Selection 2 though.

I'm going for Neverwinter nights. I liked the way you could create your own adventure, and walk around in other people their adventures. And still be kept to the Dungeons And Dragons rules.

Or Diablo II, it's a good game. Though now it crashes my PC, So I made a second PC just to let it work again

I have never got hardcore into an online game, ever. That's really sad, actually. I enjoy the premise of playing online games with people, but find the most popular ones (shooters) are usually way too tough to get started with for me.

The online game (if you can call it that) that I've had the most fun with is Second Life. I had a nice casino that was actually making real life money.

Quote: "an online game without Americans would be everyone's salvation."

Funny you should say that. The reason they made gambling illegal in Second Life is because of American law. Argh

I also used to play Texas Hold 'Em on XBLA.

Also, back around '98-2000 there was this online game where the name escapes me. It displays a picture and everyone writes the funniest caption they can think of. After about a minute it shows them all and people vote on their favourites (and of course it doesn't show the name of the person who wrote it, and you can't vote for your own). It had 5 or 6 rounds of that, which was pretty fun. The game is sadly offline now.

i play graw 2 a ton, so that would prolly be my fav game, also cod 4 is re3ally good, and as for the tea bagging in halo, the whole point is to get the other team mad so they are thrown off their game

Mine is Tibia.com

The graphics may look pants but the roleplay/gameplay was nailed to perfect. The game requires team work for many of it's quests. I spent a good couple of years playing it and making friends from all over the world.

Here's a pic of my team after completing the 3-4hr Banshee quest!

Looks a bit, Runescape Inspired... Anyway, What is its main gameplay like? Oldschool Diablo styled or just the way most MMO's go around these days?

I think Runscape was the copy

Runescape is slow compaired to Tibia. If you want action Tibia is were it's at. PvP worlds contain some crazy wars.

Watch this vid see what i mean...

I'm no PvP person. Dislike it, All kind of people yelling "Meh pwned a nub lst nifht!" and just getting the best armor from higher level characters they have, to "Pwn"(as they would say.) the lower level players.

I rather play the games story really.

There are non-PvP server for the death averse.

Nothing beats this fealing though.. your in a small party out hunting monsters for some exp and items then a rival guild launches a surprise attack. You fight valiently but their numbers are too many so you die. The word spreads via MSN and the whole of your guild logs into your world and you go get revenge by hunting the dogs down

Anyway, I'll try Tibia tommorow, I'm sick at home anyway.

You must be playing Soldier Front then. And even then it's understandable, foreigners can lag so bad that they'll get like 250 ping and be unstoppable, but that's another story.

I don't understand why people don't do it more, it really is fascinating.

I sure have. I don't know where from, but not American for sure, and I couldn't care less, really.

Where to start...

Successfully infiltrating an enemy base as a spy in TF2 is pretty satisfying.

Playing Halo 3 with mates.

Popping a one-shot-kill in R6: Vegas feels rewarding.

As for nostalgia, Goldeneye on the N64 was always the best way to spend a sunday afternoon.

I used to play C&C Renegade a lot when it was new. The demo was so much fun I preordered the game. I usually played as an engineer in either a Medium Tank (as GDI) or in an Artillery (as NOD). Especially on one map my Artillery ruled the field and kept GDI at bay, since I was an engineer (or Technician as the NOD lvl 2 engineer was called, IIRC) I could just jump out and repair my Artillery, ducking behind it to avoid the snipers. My shooting while driving skills where really high.

I was also a very good mine layer (lvl 2 engineers could also lay mines). My best memory is when all that remained of our base was the Hand of NOD (no defenses, no harvester, no power and no vehicles) and I defended it alone with mines, explosives, pistol and frequent repairing and disarming of GDI explosives. My whole team could attack GDI's base and in the end we won!

The best local multiplayer game I've found is the Halo series, co-op multiplayer is great, raises it above the status of a standard FPS.

The best online multiplayer game I've played has to be Battlefield2 on the 360, it's just a riot most of the time, especially when you know a few people who are playing. People tend to take these types of game too seriously on the PC, it's good to be able to load it up on the 360 and act like a total noob, be selfish, be a helicopter hogging sniper, and not feel bad about it at all because as long as your not TKing you get away with all sorts .

less is more, but if less is more how you keeping score?
