Anybody interested in buying my architectural model pack? The picture preview only shows a few of the models that will be included. Despite the level of detail, I find using entities as walls, platforms, windows, etc. makes a game run faster as opposed to having more segments, so I'm making these. The walls, Virtual Blocks, as I call them, are designed to be placed side-by-side to easier fit inside the level, same goes for anything else.

For about $20.00 you can have it off of Turbosquid on February 15th. I'm still working on it, this is more of a beta preview of whats to come. Along with the download will come a sample level free to download.

I'm aiming to have about 20-25 different structural entities included in the download.

You mean boxes with textures you got from the net, applied to them?

I've seen nearly all of those textures on various sites, such as Mayangs for example.

You can't sell this.

BULL! I've got the originals punk. All taken in the Chicago area! Don't make vile assumptions, I have my OWN library of over 300 texture maps on an external hard disk! And please do tell me where you've seen them. I'd REALLY like to know for my own good! I travel many distances just to take pictures, you see. Even bad areas of the city. Dont try and demote my work, it's unprofessional and ill Higgins. You tell me where you've seen those pictures also, I need to know. To prove they are mine, I can name streets and locations of where these pictures were taken as well as some of the dates!

If these really are from mayang, you're in trouble. You can't use those photos for commercial work if I remember correctly.

If not, then you need to work some more on the details, instead of having mere box models.

THEY are NOT from MAYAN. I take MY own PICTURES. Even if they are, SOMEBODY ELSE is in trouble if they are using MY pics, texture maps, or whatever!

And you know something Higgins, this is like the 4th or 5th time you've been negative on a post I created. Keep this up and I'm reporting you for harassment, I'm getting sick of it. It's almost defiling someone's reputation online and damaging profile, which is illegal itself.

I'm going to look into this, people taking my stuff and taking credit, it would be nice if you's give me some links, because this is something not to joke about. However, there are a couple of factors involved here that I am aware of AND you should be to:

(A) Although it's very rare and the chances of this happening, it doesn't mean it's not possible. Multiple people can take pictures for maps at the same location ( ex. multiple people want to create a model of the white house will most likely have at least 'close' to the same pictures ). Then again, most of my pictures consists of walls, even some pics were taken where the 'PUBLIC' cannot even enter.

(B) Whoever is ripping off my stuff, they are ALSO ripping off Turbosquid. There's a reason why I only get 50% profits. They are Turbosquids property AND MINE. Not to mention portions of my checks goto charities like the Katrina Victims and cancer foundations.

Here' proof of my other old screen name. These maps were taken like some 5 years ago.

And for the record, the reason why they're boxy is so I can use 'box' collision detection so the detection is SMOOTH, and not by polygons where a player can jump through walls easier. It's almost the point of creating these so a player needs something quick and accurate, decent looking, and make a game where the fps is okay. The LOD may not be the best and seem a bit basic, but its designed for someone to make a quick basic game! For the most part, the only way you'd need a segment is primarily for the floors.

Quote: "I travel many distances just to take pictures, you see. Even bad areas of the city. "

What part of a city isn't bad?

Nice work Dude.
I tried taking pictures for textures without much luck. (bad camera)

Quote: "Although it's very rare and the chances of this happening, it doesn't mean it's not possible. Multiple people can take pictures for maps at the same location"

That's what I was thinking.
There are a lot of photographers in Chicago, so I don't think it is that rare of a chance especially on a nice building.
It's not like you guys are painting your impressionist style oil painting of the building.
Of course two snapshots of the same building will look similar regardless of who took them.
Well, other than subtle difference in lighting/exposure/etc., which reflect the photographer's skills.
The building is still the same building and would look the same if Higgins photographed it.
That's why I think it is silly for people to 'copyright' a photograph of something unless they created the object.
Like the photos I see of famous people on Wikipedia that were taken at public events like awards ceremonies.
How can someone claim the rights to the image of someone else just because they pushed a button?
I think its silly.
I'm not trying to knocking what 'photographers' do, or say they shouldn't have rights to their 'work'.
I am just saying a lot of people get carried away with copyrights.

Thank you Conjured, glad SOMEBODY sees how I am thinking.

Quote: "What part of a city isn't bad?"

I was talking about the more crime populated areas, places most people wouldn't, hence getting rare textures ( ex. graffiti walls, broken factory windows, older buildings, etc. )

Quote: "sounds like were dealing with another rickv (or whatever his name was) situation lets alert the mods all ready"

OH sure, a whole gang of people surrounding 1 guy who's just trying to expand stock, help the community, and be active. Took a few several months off of FPSC, I come back, 1st day, get smacked in the face by Higgins with a bunch of rubbish. 1 yells out the whole gang comes. What the hell are you guys? A bunch of nazis or something? I'm taking this up with RickV himself. Then I'm probably going to be gone AGAIN! You guys got some kind of favoritism crap going on here.

I know dude, I just saw a chance to shoot down the city life.

Quote: "What the hell are you guys? A bunch of nazis or something?"

Atchung! Nine!

Don't take it personal dude, Higgins and the rest of us are just tired of the ones who claim things are theirs when they are not.
Like that guy the other day saying he made his first model , that was 100% his, then bobert busted him out because the hands were from model pack 5.
So, after that episode just the other day, I think Higgins' guard was up and the familiarity of the photos set him into alarm mode.

Quote: "You guys got some kind of favoritism crap going on here."

Its not favortism, they just trying to seperate the frauds from the real thing.
By your emotions to the accusation and your quick offer to furnish evidence on your behalf... I am left thinking maybe you're the real thing.
Take it easy dude, it'll all work out for the best.

Well its kind of humiliating, seriously. I dedicate TIME and MONEY just for train tickets to travel places, not to mention GAS money to drive drive drive. I give myself assignments. I mean some of those are from like 2003, lol. Has it ever occured to anyone that I AM being ripped off. Aight, I cool down . What really got to me though, was, Higgins has negatively fired on me like 3 times before. He some kind of stalker or something?

It IS possible, I guess, that maybe Higgins saw my models on Turbosquid or something? I dunno.

I'm good. Bottom line, I've got nothing to hide. Nothing to worry about. I know the truth. I still just messaged Rick though about this. I recommend people cool down. Dont jump the gun. Get the full story first.

Well if it is true, and they are ripping you off, then you have Higgins to thank for discovering it.

See, his investigative work might help you even if he did get it mixed-up.

I think Higgins has good intentions here.

Ehhh, I guess, but I really think he should go by fact first, find the evidence, prove it, conversate, THEN come out with the verdict. My fulltime job is a private detective, state certified. I do this stuff on the side. And I gotta say, that is THE worst investigative skills I have ever seen. Otherwise, I'm going to look around and see if I SEE anything of mine.

Eh, the main reason some of us act like that, is because were stubborn and quite suspicious when it comes to media people claim to have "created". Some of those still remember me of Mayang, but then again some walls might look like eachother on the whole planet.

I understand. But another thing I would like to add, as far as things looking familiar, is my stuff is on turbosquid.com -- a place where 3d artists download objects for games, commercials, 3D illustrations, maybe even movies.

I mean, the reason why I'm being defensive is because I have to. I'm not going to let people accuse me of something I'm not, or something I didn't do. The explanation of me replying so quickly is because when I get mad, my face turns into a tomato, I become dizzy with severe headache, I edit posts like hell, I jump up and down, thoughts rusing in my head, something out of Farcry in predator mode.....I'm just going to stop here, I can go on for days about this thread. Ah, it's alright. I have another one out there somewhere...Let me find it...Somebody actually bought it awhile back, my skills have gotten waaay better since then though. Previews are not as good, which probably why 1 person got it, lol. Also, in the 2nd preview, you can see 1 of the textures in there that is also in this new addition! The only difference is, this new one consists of entities as walls, as opposed to segments.

You have to learn how to uvmap. In the second screen it shows a stretched texture that looks awful. Use the search function

its a shame that people get treated this way just acusing without
proof of the crime. there are many good people on this forum
but there are also some that take great pleasure in acusing aothers
so the trolls can come out and have a go at you,
dont be put off by these people if the textires are yours
unles you are asked by tgc or a mod to show proof then ignor them.
they are realy good, i do hope you undestand that a some times people come on the forum claiming to own things and it turns out they dont, this is no reflection on you , and ime sure there are many members here looking at this thread and hope that its its fine
and look forward to your work and purchasing some of these fine
textures you have and the model packs you create.
i also think mods should make members who acuse others to
show proof of there acusations before posting such drivel.
mods please dont delete this post this is from the silent majority
on this board.

Paranoid.

Did you expect me to be defenseless or something? I guard my work with great care Higgins. You still haven't shown me a link to where you saw my textures either. Whatever man. I'll admit. I dont really handle confrontations all that well, I suppose.

As far as the models go, I'm thinking about throwing in some elements I am making as well ( ex. crumbling walls, maybe a well, a hotel sign < like the ones that stick out of a building, usually lit up, that sorta deal >, etc. ) I suppose humorous billboards or maybe signs can be put in I guess. Any suggestions? Still about 15 days left.

yep i have to agree, i gave the notion to higgins about paranoia. but w/e if you made them or not, idc, you need to work on your uv mapping. almost all of the screens have the stretching in the insides. all you have to do is export the uvmap from your modelling program, then fill in the lines with the texture. atleast thats how my uvmapping works, i think if you use milkshape you paint the textures on and just hit export and itll do it all itself.

it just looks a tad unprofessional, and it really sticks out when you're using your "photos" as textures.

Mayangs.com is down, so you are off the hook for now

//

I think you are more a businessman than an artist. You know none of the terminology or the basic skills of UV mapping models from looking at your new screenshots.

You would be better off selling these so called texture maps of yours in a photography pack, as that's what they are, photographs, not textures.

Or at least make them seamless and the power of 2, then maybe you could call them textures, but right now they are just photographs.

Yeah, I AM a businessman. I make quite a buck off of Turbosquid, nothing to live off of, no, but it helps the gas. Hard work pays off in the long run. My intentions, however, of putting these entities up are not for money, I was just going to use them myself. But I am a generous person and decided to make it available to the public. Also, i just want to point out that if mayangs comes back up, I'm going to look on their to see if some of my stuff is on there. If some of my stuff IS on there, somebody's going to be in big big trouble, and I'll give you a hint. It's not going to be me. This is another reason why I am frustrated with this issue. According from my research of discovering what mayangs actually IS, consisting of FREE stuff, that's pretty bad, seeing that I been selling a lot of my stuff since 2003. Anybody having any links to what may be mine, posting them would be greatly appreciated.
