answer = 14

reason:

"There are 7 girls on a bus"

the cats are in the backpacks, so technically they are not ON the bus , they are 'IN' the bus, they are in the backpacks, not touching the bus itself, so they can be cancelled from the problem.

assuming all the girls are touching the bus 7*(2 legs) = 14

Quote: "There are 7 girls on a bus
Each girl has a backpack
In each backpack are 7 big cats
For every big cat there are 7 little cats
How many legs are on the bus?"

As mentioned earlier there's no buss driver.

Correct answer: 1582 legs

Edited because I thought there where only 1 big cat in each backpack, which would make far more sense, and didn't read properly. The trick of this question is that most people would only count the kittens and the girls and not the big cats

@DA
Nope There are seven bug cats for EVERY girl, not seven big cats!

@Everyone else who got it wrong
You forgot to put brackets around the multiplies when you typed it into the calculator

Seing as the question keeps changing (it now reads this

Answer:
801 legs

Working:
7 girls
7*7 big cats
7*7*7 kittens

(Multiply by number of legs for each animal)

7*2 girl legs
7*7*2 big cat legs
7*7*7*2 kitten legs

(Calculate answers)

14 girl legs
98 big cat legs
689 kitten legs

(Add 'em up)

801 legs
That is the right answer

So these are two-legged cats then? The correct answer is 1582 if each girl has 1 backpack.

You only need to do that when you're adding things that should then be multiplied, for example (7+2)*3 because if you do 7+2*3, you'll get 7+6, where as you should be getting 9*3. For problems like 7*2+7*7*4+7*7*7*4, that would be added correctly, because you're adding things that are multiplied, and therefore order of operations works out correctly without parenthesis.

I think 238 legs.

7 girls=14 legs
7 big cats=28 legs
49 small cats=196 legs

14+28+196=238

There's more than 7 big cats, there's 7 big cats per girl.

The correct answer is:

girls = 7*2=14 legs
cats = 343*4 = 1372
kittens = 2401*4 = 9604
total legs = 10,990
wasting all our time = priceless

Somebody post a different problem.

Ben worked 3 hours and jerry worked 5 hours to wash theirs neighbors car. The neighbor paid them $50. What is jerry's fair share of the money?
