Fpsc segment comp 2 went down... but x-games said that someone may take over. Now, i didn't want to bump an old thread, so here is the new fpsc segment comp.

Task: Post entirely new segment(s), in the modern day category. They must be made by you, and they must be completely new. (Never released before.) Judges CANNOT enter.

Rules: Must be less than 150 polys, lowest texture size is 512-512, biggest texture size is 1024-1024. You can enter up to 3 segments, they can be rooms, windows, walls, floors, doors, csgs... Anything in the segment category that falls into modern day.

The winner will pick 3 prizes from the list. 2nd and 3rd place get to pick one prize of what's left.

Judges:
Main: Me
1 - Kerrby
2 - Dark Jaguar Flame
3 - Seth Black
4 - Bas
5 - Valkynaz

Prizes:
Official MP16
Bas's Medievil Model Pack
BVG MEGA City pack
Henry Ham's Sci-fi Segment Pack
BVG City Pack
BVG Paintball Pack

The competition ends on the 1st of may 2008. It begins as soon as you stop reading this thread.

Can I give a prize? Can the Kola level 1 demo (when finished) v1.0.00 be a prize, Aaagreen?

ur going to make people pay for the demo? cuz i think prizes are only supposed to be prizes that cost money. plus, i doubt u will finish the demo.

The MEGA City pack will be a prize if you want.
Maybe that could be a higher prize, and then I add the citypack and also the paintballpack.
So from me you get 3 prizes.

Good luck!

I don't have a modeling program(Don't have a money to buy program BTW)... Would it be alright if I just make a texture and put it on a segment already in FPSC?

Or would that be against the rules?

The only segments you can use of stock media are:

Flat walls
Flat floors
Plain room segments

And AI, if Kola level one demo will never be released in the future, it is allowed. If it will be released for free, i must remove it.

Dude 232, you cannot be both judge and competitor, sorry. Which one would you rather be?

Even though I am new I would like to be a judge but if you think that I shouldn't be a judge because i'm new that's fine.

Would I be able to be a judge?

Here are the basic meshes for room, wall and floor. You will have to position the rooms yourself. (A good knowledge of the segment editor and .fpe files is recommended.)

Great entry ocho. Remember, it must be 512-512 or bigger, maximum size is 1024-1024.

yeah i always use 512x512 textures for segments, i find them large enough

P.S. who remembers what effect you use to support normal and diffuse maps?

right, look at the image above, i used the clone brush (dangerous choice but worked and you cant notice much) on the edges of the texture

Next up, graffiti land, i accidentally did that on a different room style than the others, hence the bump on the sides, i have since fixed that

Hold up, people--Kola level 1 demo has to be priced? Doesn't make sense; I really don't need money right now and game demos are usually free anyways. If it cannot be free, then it'll be pulled out.

I know the first three levels fro the compo, seeming as a demo shall never be priced, well not in my account.

Sounds fine to me. May is fine, it gives you 2 months to work on your entrys, and it gives the judges enough time to mark them accurately, in no rush.

Dude232, what size are each of the textures? And could you please post a download?

So you must have the entry be a texture, on a model, and what, a picture of an in-engine render? I would very much like to enter but, I couldn't do models, just a texture.

Otherwise: I would love to judge. I do lots of texturing (you could call it my specialty). Unless you are looking for a more renowned forum-er.
