Aaagreen: Why non-commercial only? Because its just a box with a texture.

Because i will use a similair texture in my commercial game, with the same logos and stuff, and i dont want people who may buy my game to think "i've seen that before"

This game will use a lot of custom media.

That is actually an amazing base texture. If you grunge it up a bit, it will look top notch.

How did you do that? With what program, and what brushes/filters?

I used Paint.NET and a few real images and made them overlays. Then I used a brush in photoshop to fix it up.

I did? I made it at school, using only the base version of macromedia fireworks MX 2004.

Yup, it is very nice, all I had to do was add some grune and stuff and it looked like a real photo of a crate.

Well, almost.
I think the texture has too many obvious shades of colour going on which should be ballanced out a little.
Possibly keep all lettering shades of red or whatever colour you pick and keep all browns in the same range.
If the slats in the middle are supposed to be metal keep it like that but make it blend with the rest.
I think...
