Not realy, my first model in max was 1000 poly high, then I made it a extra 3780 higher...
(it was a human face, looked cartoonish too.)

also when I started out texturing I was good too...
well from what i can remember, always had a right amount of grunge.

Yes, I know that, because you can easliy tell that these are photo's, you know how many people take a photo of a tree stump and put it on a site?
it could be exactly the same here, they both used the same texture...

because:

Quote: "But when I found a photo of one online"

Probelm resolved, one of them edited the texture for more grunge.

All the models submitted on this thread were of the very first I ever put together. The cow and pig were originally from the collection you spoke of.
I retextured, and used them in a village scene I made a few monthes back. I used those to learn how to do animals in general. Upon reading the requests thread I saw that a lot of people really needed animal models. I still had those laying around, and decided to give them away.

As I am a fan of the movie aliens I needed a Power Loader. The original that I used for reference was a model that I found here somewhere on the forums I believe. It was an extremely bare model with no detail to speak of. It had a plain yellow texture with some stripes. I,m sure if you look hard enough you'll find it. Using it as reference, And reference only, I remodeled the whole thing, and added all the extra detail, Then mapped it, made all the textures from photos off the internet, and made it FPSC ready.

Now, Having done all that, If you feel that I cannot claim it as "My Version" of the Power loader then I'm sorry, I dont know what to tell you.

The Grand piano is a model that I'm very proud of. it took 2 whole days to complete, and I challange anyone to find another version of it that's just like mine.

Now, here it is several months, and Probably a hundred or more models later, and I'm pretty confident that I can model just about any object I want
That is within the limitations of Milkshape.

I've been professional graphics designer for almost 20 years.
And if you feel it's beyond the realm of possibillity that after 8 or so monthes of hard work, dozens of tutorials, and a million screw-ups, That someone could not improve at this as I did, Then I will gladly remove all of my submissions.

In fact, If you want me to model something that reflects my current work, send me a decent photo of the object, I will model it, and supply all related files from Milkshape, UVMapper classic, and Photoshop 5, As well as screenshots of the models progress.

In closing, Let me say that I got into this stuff for fun.I have no pipe dreams of creating the next super FPSC game. I'm an artist, and I've found that 3D modeling is really cool. I'm not looking for praise, or to make any profit. I just love building these things. And if can share that which I have found a passion for, then it makes it worthwhile.

Ask yourself, how long was it before you were building these things on your own? 6-8-12 months? Hmmm.

Best wishes to all, TCP.

Glad you clarified the issue. You did a great job on the textures and models of the pig and cow they look just like the originals. It took about a week to do all the tutorials on 3ds max 4, when I got it so I guess about 9 days later I was making things on my own. Sorry for any inconvenience, I hope you understand your models and textures just looked to good. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Heltor. I'm a fan of your work also. Your dungeon stuff is wicked! You say you use 3Ds max? My old art director gave me a copy of ver.6 awhile back. when I opened it and saw all the features, and buttons and stuff, I freaked out. I asumed the learning curve was emmence. That's why I started with Milkshape.

Aside from all that, What's your take on Max? Is it really as good a program as eveyone claims? and lastly, Do you think it's worth the effort to learn such a high-end program for doing the kind of work used here?

I'm not sure but I think Bond1 uses Max. I know he uses a high-end program.

BTW, I can't even get my head around Milkshape.

Thank you everyone for your model requests. I need to temporarily put a hold on requests for a short time, as I have recieved 38 model requests so far, and I need to finish these before I take any more on. give me a week or so, and I'll start taking on the next batch.

Check my Posts when you see them for more free stuff and info about when I'll be taking requests again.

Thank you all so much for your support.

Best to you always, The Cosmic Prophet.

I believe 3ds max is the top of line in 3d creation software, If you use the tutorials you will be creating qualty models with in a week or 2. I use version 9 now, and when you first look at it, it can be a bit overwellming with all the buttons. I've tried all the other 3d creation software over the years, but I always go back to 3ds max.
