I attached a simple test I did a while ago using WPF

[EDIT] For some reason, you have to save it before you run it. Otherwise it will stop working.

@Roxas - Interesting image, but for this software I'm looking for something clean and "Web 2.0-like", if that makes sense.

@Jeff032 - Thanks for the info, I've never heard of WPF and it looks fascinating. It's about time there was a good way to separate UI from code! I'll do some research on this.

Everyone else, if I've missed your emails or was late replying, I apologize! I'm using the Gmail interface for my email and I'm just getting used to it. Seems it's really easy to miss replies to conversations

WPF only works on newer windows computers(XP, Vista) and only works if they have .Net 3.5 installed. Very few computers meet thoose requirments(my estimate of all computers is 15%). You should probably use something more compatible.

Looks cool, how would that work with the game list? White text in the black box? Also, what colour should the buttons be? If you run Updater.exe you can see the newest version has a few changes Also, if you could email me a PNG that would be great!

@Dr Schnitzengruber - Yes, thanks for the info. I was just reading through and I think the .NET 3.x requirements are a bit too high nowadays. Right now the software uses .NET 2.x, which is supported as far back as Win 2k. In the future if this software takes off I will look further into skinning possibilities.

Just a rough layout, to give you an idea:

And yes, most likely white text on black background. I'll email you the PNG files now.

[Wasn't sure what you wanted in the PNG files, If you want the background removing I'll upload that now[/EDIT]

Note: the Icons are currently placeholders.

@Roxas - That looks cool, if I knew how to do it that way. I'm not sure how to skin the menu bar, and that listbox component in C# does not support transparency.

Here's what the program looks like now, and as you can see I've added some more games

Yes, I will fix that soon. Thanks!

Well the way I designed the database I can't read your password as it's a bunch of garbage. I can only reset it. Since you haven't uploaded anything yet feel free to create a new account. Give me 10 minutes and I'll nuke your existing one so you can use the same username

New set of buttons there. I've attached them to this post.
I've also added in the backgrounds, so If you just slap these in the same positions, should blend nicely.

Cheers,

That is looking pretty smart. I think the design is complete.
Unless you want something similar for the sign in window?

You know the term "Wisdom tooth" is actually a Dutch word, and that its been mistranslated?

It's called a "verstandskies" in Dutch, which literally indeed means wisdom tooth, however, the correct translation would be something like "far away-tooth"!

Well, some big news today that Valve is updating Steam to transparently sync all your game saves and configuration files for all your Steam titles. They're releasing it as part of SteamWorks, which is free for all developers. Hmmm... that might put a damper on my plans here.

I know there are tons of games that are not on Steam, but it still sucks that this has been announced.
