Here's a link to demo of the level design of level 1:
http://files.filefront.com/Planet+Hell+Betazip/;10953647;/fileinfo.html

New Screens can be found starting on page 2 of this thread

Ok, I've completely redone the game, the level design, and parts of the story. Me, and the people I had test the game, say it was too bright to be a planet "hell" and used a little too much stock. So here's what the changes look like:

Story: The year is 2015 You are the commanding officer of a force sent to investigate Planet Hell; a large metal, floating mass that appeared above Earth. The sphere shows signs of past human interface and architecture, but seems as to be years ahead in tech. A ship, the Erikson, has already been sent up to investigate, but all contact has been lost.

Here's my revised level setup as well

Level 1: Status Report; You enter the "Planet" through what seems to be an exhaust port. Your ship traverses deep into the object and finds a suitable place to land. Your squad exits first to clear the area. You follow soon after and access the situation

Level 2: The Underlevels; you find the remnants of your squad, either shot or grotesquely slaughtered, you travel through the deep interior of Planet Hell, finding some passage to the surface levels.

Level 3:From the Center of the Earth...; For some reason, you close into a rocky surface inside this technical planet. Appearentally, this "planet" was formed around something else...

Level 4: Crashsite; encounter remains of the Erikson

Level 5: no specific name; the surface area of the station.

Level 6: The Tower; no details released

As you can see I removed the first level on Earth Completely, and added a lot to the story progression. Now, with this comletely redone Planet Hell, I've only had the time to finish one level (the First).

I will be posting NEW SCREENS, but since I'm using the previous thread, some may be confused because of the early ones, since they ARE from the original game idea and are now IRRELEVANT.

So I hope everyone likes the new, fixed up idea. I have a short example of level 1 completed and will set up the link, but til then, screens will have to do.

Here's my NEW Screen; it is the loading screen for level 1 and features a screen from the gameplay

one level = game's done!

WooT! looks like it worked, ok, heres the first room right after, the base is sort of empty because it is older and your mission is made to be kept on the down-low

Next, the tram station in between, sort of a useless room but added some atmosphere and gave a better sense of the size of the base

Ok dude232, I'll try, I don't have any lines for the characters yet and I'm still putting some finishing touches on level 1

Does mediafire work for demos? like I said this is my first time...

O, and here's the start (just sorta wanted to add it) for another part of the training area

Nice use of stairs, although the player could get stuck trying to jump through them. 9.8/10, Krowsnest.

Ty AI, I'll maybe put up an invisible wall or something. I'll try to get a demo down soon seeing as it is the weekend guys, as long as fpsc doesn't screw up my textures in the final result. This has happened to me with 2 other games I made and wanted to post: one called "Tonight the stars revolt" named after a Powerman 5000 (another scifi game) song and one called "Open Fire"( feuer frei in german because it is named after that song by Rammstein, as you can see I like Music ).

Here's one more simple part where you fight some training enemies (sorry, accidentally already killed em

Sorry for all the Armoury segment, it is just primarily used in the training rooms, not much anywhere else

Great stuff man, as everyone else has said, I like the use of stairs. You seemed to have the whole game planned out. Stick with it and get it finished

Looks nice, good use of the stock media. The only thing that's bugging me about it so far is the biohazard sign on the windows...I don't think it fits and it's distracting aswell as being overused. To get rid of it the easy way, right click the window and change the texture to:

Quote: "texturebank\scifi\scenery\windows\win_a\glass_a_D2.dds"

If you get this finished then it'll be a step further than a lot of people on this forum.

Good luck,
Paul

If this is your first game, this is really great. I would have never thought to use the stairs like that, ingenious. Good luck, I love scifi games. By the way, what weapons will be used?

thx guys for all your support. I will try to upload a video (more likely of level 2 though because level one is dull on the action side.

And this isn't really my "first" game, it is only the first I'm putting up in the showcase.

Oh, the weapons will just be stock for now, seeing as their are no scifi weapons for model packs 9/10 or available in the store, and you are aliens you are fighting (the seekers, ty bond1) so they cannot b modern-day stuff

if you are using stock wepons i would really suggest a thick retexture on them becuse no one like to play wit the same wepons they always do.

Here's my first screen of level 2 (still debating which level to use, one or 2, as a demo). You start by climbing down those pipes

I'm sorry for broken demo, I'm still new to this ( I knew I should have added those files but I could only download one file at a time, not the folder ).

Oh, just so this isn't a wasted post, here's what I have for the game menu backround so far...

Will probably change soon...

Ok, here's an update:

I had to change the story a little bit (actually, i think i made it a little better like this) so now seeker enemies later in the game will use human weapons, therefore, model pack 9 and 10 will be used!

The weapon you start out with are a little more modern than a ak-47 (you start out with that scoped-pistol and a scoped M4), but early on ammo will be scarce. The combat now will be more centered around melee combat in levels 2/3. You find a bone to use as a weapon, that i bought, ty TGC store again, and later a machete, this makes more sense since your early enemies will also use the melee drill.

Oh, here's more on lvl 3 since I sort kept it secret-ish- You fall to the depth of the "planet" and encounter survivors of the erikson who are mentally disturbed. You go on ahead to find a way to open the door back up to the surface levels.

Level 4 is still a work in progress (the idea at least) but it does involve finding the hidden reason for you traveling to the planet.

Here's how far I'm on the production

Level 1: Done, unless further changes come to my attention, it's good.

Level 2: Probably going to be the shortest level, is about 80% done

Level 3: Just starting, the level will be more cave-ish (hint-hint), I have an idea for the orientation of the map though

Level 4: about that......

Level 5: Nothing so far

Oh, and here's some things I need help on (since I'm so noobish)

-If anyone can get me a good way to place Demos on the internet that would help greatly.

-The story won't progress too well without....the story! I might just make some clips in-game, but if anyone can tell me how to get text to appear at parts that would b great (call me a noob as much as you like...)

That's it so far, some more screenshots or a video maybe in the next week.

Attached screen of enemy and your first melee weapon, a bone!

If you mean for the last screen it was only an example of the weapon being used, the enemy is at a part where he is hidden behind a large door and you flick the switch and he pops out...

Dang, my video wont upload . It doesn't work here or youtube. It is 7 minutes thou so I'll just shorten it maybe...

Oh, the design of level 3 is proving to b a challange, might have to work on it, but level 4's "blueprints" (aka me scetching with a ball-point pen on computer paper) seem to be interesting.

I'll work on the video, and the demo.......(any help here would still be nice)
