////Original Post////

Whoa, how's that for a thread title? lol

Anyhow, I've posted a few half-ashed things on the boards before and announced the work of a full model pack, which I've decided I will release as pieces instead, one by one, probably in the TGC Store sometime soon.

In this thread, you'll find my WIP models and media and you'll be able to download the free stuff that I will donate to the community. I'll try to keep all the stuff listed in this first post as well as their own posts to keep order of them.

First of all, I've got a wall and floor texture that I made ages ago. I was going to use a custom mesh for the segment, but after going through heaps of trouble to no avail, I decided to trash it from the commercial list and just release it as a texture pack. So here it is, enjoy, and read the license before you use.

(Files are attached)
EDIT: New archive attached.

Look out for more WIP's and free media coming soon!

I like the wall one, but I don't think the floor is grunged up enough, considering its a floor. Downloaded though, nice work. Another question what did you use to make these?

I like the floor. So much stuff if grunged up, makes it hard to find resources for things like modern offices etc.

Hm, that's a good question. I've used Photoshop at my school a lot, and I'm uncertain if their licenses allow me to distribute it commercially.. I'll check.

Okay, the floor-texture was made using Photoshop at school, so I guess I'll have to investigate on the licensing and it take it down in the meantime. But the wall texture was made in GIMP, so it's good to go.

Sorry for the inconvenience, I'm just a few bucks away from getting my own, commercial license for PS CS3. At student discount.

@Uthink: Thanks man. But as I said, I might have to take it down.

Here's a pack of audio files for your game, a trollish voice. It's nothing too special, but someone might find use for it. I was originally going to record some normal, male sounds, but since I wasn't too fond of their amateuristic feel, I made myself sound like a monster instead, lol.

Recorded with the Sound Recorder Accesory (which comes with windows), and edited with Audacity.

And good news for you waiting for more media, I'll be getting my discount version of PS CS3 soon, so there'll be alot more interesting things to download.

Sorry about the double post, but I've got another character sound pack available for you to use, the voice of a cyborg/demon-ish thing.

I was given a green flag when I asked the developer behind GoldWave if it would be okay to distribute sounds edited with the trial version of it, and it was all good. As usual, license is attached, just place the entire folder in the audiobank\voice folder and assign it to a character, then you're good to go.

A note; the finalmoan (death) sound is a bit long. It works for characters but when assigned to the player, the sound plays so long it sounds when you've been ressurected/respawned.

Hey people!

Just dropping by to give you a free texture, of a grungy sci-fi nature. I just got PS CS3 a few days ago, so hopefully the updates will be more frequent now.

Anyhow, I wasn't really satisfied with the result when I tried to make a new segment with custom meshes and all, so I decided I'd release it here instead. The mesh is not up for download since it doesn't work with lightmapping properly. I'll look into it more someday and see if I can get it right.

Here's a preview, enjoy and don't forget to read the license.

Off topic: Jag går på Ljud- och Bildskolan i Varberg. De har hela CS3-sviten, alltså alla program tillgängliga, på nästan alla datorer på skolan. Fast jag har kunnat Photoshop sen innan.

Hm, this reminds me, gotta upload some more stuff here..

Jo, har hört talas om Veddige, men tror inte jag har varit där.

Well, for those wondering, we were just discussing what school I go to.

Anyhow, here's a new freebie. It's an experiment of a modelling-technique I've put to use for a project, won't tell you which one though.
It's basically just a rock, which has a flat bottom which makes it possible to place it just about anywhere. Good for outdoors, or worn houses that have been invaded by wildlife.. and rocks.

A-anyhow, the texture's photo-based, and comes from the excellent resource site ImageAfter.com. I've checked with the guys before, and it says on the site that's it's allright to use their resources. I'm just mentioning it here so that no one accuses me of stealing, and to give credits to the people who run ImageAfter.

That's enough text for this post, model attached and screenshot below. Enjoy!
(Place the model so that the folders read entitybank\generic\RogerWilco\darkrock)

Hey folks. For anyone that's interested, I'm working on my first serious try at weapons. I've modelled and optimized/welded a Franchi SPAS 15 shotgun, here's a quick render of it from Wings3D;

As you can see, it is yet to be textured. But I'll try and get the UV maps sorted and not too messy. Wether or not it will be free, I'll decide when it's done. It was quiet a lot of work, even though it might not be a hundred percent accurately modelled. But I'd say it's at least 90 percent accurate.

Anyhow, might release a free steampunk-inspired model soon. Got some inspiration after seeing a guy on YouTube make steampunk-ish robots and vechiles from kinder capsules.

Thanks, BVG! Yeah, I forgot to mention, the render was accidently done with a subdivision level of 1, so there's a few more polys in the pic than there are in the actual model.

That looks nice, although the front part of it looks kinda messed, is that a handgrip? Smoothed models always look kinda yucky, I bet it looks much better without the subdivision.

@Inspire: Thanks! Yeah, it is a handgrip, and you're right, it got really messed when it was subdivided.

@Heltor: Thanks man, over and out.

Anyhow, update on the spas 15; got the UV sorted somewhat. Will begin texturing soon.

No problem, dude. We're all here to help each other out every now and then, after all.

As for updates, I have a photo-based ground texture with a second variation which I made some time ago, but never found any use for. So I thought, what the heck, I'll post them here.

As you can see, they tile in with each other seamlessly, since there's actually two variations here and not one long picture.

License is the same as for my other stuff. Commercial and non-commercial use permitted. Give credit. Don't claim as your own. Yada yada. Full license available with my other items, and might be added to the first post as well. Also, for these textures, if you use them, leave a note in the credits for Imageafter.com too, as I got the originals there.

More interesting stuff to come soon, hopefully. Until then, keep on game makin'.

Hey again, folks. I've signed up for the TGC Store and will upload both old and new free stuff, and of course some cheap stuff as well.
While the signed agreement's on its way to the headquarters, I'll upload some new stuff here.

First off, a freebie (yay!). It's a pile of garbage, as in.. well, the model is of a pile of garbage.

Nothing too special, a bit of warping on the texture unfortunately, but I will/might supply with a bit of alternates to compensate for that.
As always, simple license documentation included, might become obsolete once my models are up in the store though. Put the files so that the folders read;

And it should work fine.

Also, as soon as my store account is all prepared, I will fix a bit and upload this:

For a low fee (mostly because it's high-resi texture work). But before I do so, I might make another texture variation and some illumination maps. So far, there are two versions. The smooth, little bit scratchy metal pictured above, and the super-grunge version. You'll see what I mean once I get an image up of it.

That is all, until next time!
