Hey guys!

I am thinking of making a super Mario 64 like game with Kirby and lots of different levels. The first thing you do, is get the main character animated(I wrote it all in Dark Basic).

Just to demonstrate the animations, I put him in a factory on a conveyor belt.

Controls:

-Move the mouse to view
-hold down leftclick and move mouse to zoom
-rightclick to change animation(animation type is written on the computer in the background)
-upkey <--> Downkey = Ambient light level
-Enter = restart falling into room animation

It`s not much, but I hope you guys like it!

The animation is fantastic; smooth and believable. Kirby appears to have eaten all the pies.. and waddle dees..

That's very cool! Animation is pleasing to the eye. The game looks appealing. Nice intro too. Kirby has a seam on his back but you probably know this already.

That has been annoying me the whole time! Does anyone know how to fix that?

If this is Drak Basic Classic, you need to download the upgrade to Dark Basic Classic 1.2

Nice kirby animations! I especially like the beginning when he falls from the roof . Did you use the SET OBJECT KEYFRAME commands?

Anyway, I managed to get him back to where he fell from (see attached picture)

As for the ridge on his back, that's an issue with DB primatives. For some reason it does that when you use the MAKE OBJECT SPHERE command... Maybe you could try exporting a sphere from a separate modeler instead?

Are the spheres better in v1.2?

@Sixty Squares

So that`s where that cylinder pipe thingy went!(The thing under Kirby on your picture) It was supposed to be under the roof so kirby could fall out of it, but one day it just disappeared!

If you rightclick just after he jumps in the highest jump animation to switch to the long jump, Kirby will fly right out of the level, because the gravity isn`t as strong as with the highest jump. I still need to fix that.

I forgot to mention some controls:

upkey <--> Downkey = Ambient light level
Enter = restart falling into room animation -->

I`ll try doing that.

Looks fun. Lot of effort for a techdemo - just the way I like it . Three thumbs up from me.

Well Rami, you are the one easily excited. Don't be blaming Plystire. He's merely trying to protect the innocence of the forum members.

You make me jealous

Make a game

Edit: Did you make this model of Kirby?

Edit: Anyone missing any DLLs, just google the name of it and usually you'll be able to find a download of it on the first result. There's a site that just has a huge database of DLLs.

Aw, c`mon! there`s no need to be jealous! I`m sure you can make something just as good!

Quote: "Make a game"

I have just made a level maker, and I only need to work on the tile compression algorithm, to make it faster. Also the enemies and some cannons, lifts, shortcuts, bosses, slides etc.

Anyway, the next demo will be finished around the 1.8.2008 or earlier. I`ll let you know!

Thanks, TheComet

@ Irojo

I downloaded the file and ran it, and it worked perfectly. I don`t know what you did wrong, but try it again. And just in case you didn`t uncompress it first, rightclick, extract all, and run the wizard to uncompress it.

Then try running the exe again
