This is a cool idea, you just need some better prizes. Contact some people.

Ya, I'm sure there are many people willing to offer their work as prizes. If you do get better prizes, I'll compete

Yes it can be a table, but depending on the quality of the model, effort, look, etc.. will determine your chances of winning.

I don't think you have the contest thing down. There are a lot of things you left out and the thing is disorganized.
You have no really clear plan at all here and before you even think about having a contest you better have everything ready to go.
What if someone enters a model?Does it have to be textured?
Get ready...take it from someone who (like poor Keith) had the pleasure of running the original FPSC Level Design Competition for a while.
And the best part is...when the contest is over you've got two seconds to have everything judged, prizes handed out and the world saved before people start harrassing you.
You don't know what you signed up for.
Allowing anything on the planet (or known or imaginary universe) to be entered into your contest is not a good idea either.
Obviously a competition needs some guidelines as to what is acceptable or not or it won't work.
Are you going to give out a prize for each different type of media and how would you judge one over the other?
I wish you luck. You'e gonna need it...
