Greetings all, I'm back to take part in the TGC Store's great services and thought I would post what I have available as well as what I am working on. Any critiques I recieve will help me improve future models that I work on for the store. Development of new models will be posted here as well as links to the 3d chat area where the WIPs for new models will be. If you post a critique, please constructive criticisim only. Thanks for taking a look.

What's to criticize? They look like great, low poly characters! Proportions look correct all around, and I like the designs too. They look great even in the small thumbnails, which is a good sign that they will look good in game, nice bold forms like the one with the red lens always look good in games.

I guess just make sure you have enough polys for good deformation, especially the one with the "skirt". Great job!

Thanks bond1, I was always amazed at how you did your wizards robe. to tell you the truth I'm toatally perplexed. When checking bone to vertex assighnments there are some oddities that don't make sense to me but man does it work well. One day you'll have to teach me that method so my skirts won't be so flat.

Wow, I am glad to see you back. And amazing models. Do you think you could make a couple of modern day soldiers or a zombie?

How many zombie models do we have now, smae goes for soldiers. Someone will be asking for an M16 next.

Disturbing 13, these are really great, really nice models, great to see something imaginative, Ive always liked your models style, a bump map or normal or something would make these perfect for those that want to use them for dx10, efx mod when the shaders are fully done, which looks like it could be any time soon, or those that import into other engines.

Ive also just sent your skyboxes out, thanks for the order, hope your enjoy using them.

Thanks for the comments guys.
@fallen one-thanks for sending out the order. Top noch work you have there. TGC should set up something for Skyboxes, really.

As for future models, I'm going to try to do some more original type characters. I'm trying to see where FPSC has void's, and perhaps fill the niche for some other genres just to have the experience. Zombies have been done to death (pun intended) but there may be some in the far future. I was thinking of going the more creature rout than zombie for my next set.

I had reasons for leaving. Those reasons have been resolved. Now I have better reasons to return. LOL, I don't know if I was most missed though. But thanks for the personal compliment as well as the compliment on my models.

They asked me originally if I wanted to put them on their store, not the fpsc store, nor the new online thing they have recently set up, the old TGC store, I personally thought they should of been a FPSC official pack, but they seem to only do models for that. I had a third pack half way done, I could of made 2 big packs, then made a third for say urban buildings, then skyboxes would of been completely covered for fpsc.

Well I liked the Gothic stuff you did on Grave Danger, really nice style, also these characters here are great, we have very little sci fi characters, these look original rather than the generic style that is often done a lot.

OFFTOPIC:

D13, what have you been up to? What about those great cartoon characters you showed me sometime ago, while using my toon shader? You dropped that game?

BTW, I've been testing other type of modding FPSC, without modding the source. PM for details.

The difference in my modeling is more time and now I'm going pro, and by that I mean I'm actually in school now earning my bachelors in Videogame Art and Design. Before my proportions would be off on the normal FPSC skeleton but I've been observing the original models and proportion as well as placement and coming up with some better results. LOL trust me the original version of this guy looked like my older stuff. then I took him piece by piece and resized and alligned him with a standard FPSC model and came up with much better results. Texturewise I've just been experimenting. This semester will be enlightening since I have a class called Photo editing for game textures. i figured why not let everyone benifit from what I learn in school. BTW, Grave Danger is still on in FPSC, but the name has changed due to Monster Maddness coming out with its PS3 release called 'GraveDanger'. More on that as I near the end of development for it.
@alimpo83- I will be continueing that project, but I prefer to have more done on it before I release anything else. I am trying to incorperate all the lessons I learn in school into my work now, and that means going back and changeing a few things up.

@D13, Any chance of a tutorial on how to do some of this stuff? I know you said your in the middle of school, so it's understandable if you can't, but I'd love to follow a tutorial on how to do some of that texturing.

Oh, sorry, I didn't see yours. They look great, but not quite the graphical style I'm looking for.

That points out an issue with the store though, since it's all artist oriented, it's very easy to miss great new content when it leaves the new releases section...

@Strelok- Thanks Man!

@some kid- Thanks as well!

@Gunn3r- the tuts may happen sooner than I know, but not sure when. Techno Valley was going to start a tutorial site and I will help him with as many tuts as I possible, includeing textureing and modeling querys.

@FredP- thanks! Good to be back.

@Life Tap- rather than Zombies I will be doing some odd horror models as well as updateing the entire Creeps and Freaks models with 2.0 versions of the models useing updated scripts and such. My intent is to broaden my genres and hopefully FPSC's as well.

@Chupa cabra-Thanks!

@GP PrOdUcTiOnS- Grave(or MortalRecoil as it is now named) is definitely my main concearn in a project right now. Getting episode 1 out will take priority between making more models for the store.

@Heroefol- Thanks! and yes it will be worked on as well with updated models. Anything I worked on in the past will continue but needs to be updated as new skills are aquired.

Well I'll be Bob Sageted! The minute I start thinking about going back to my game, the master of horror himself comes back with yet some more models that would work perfect! Long time no see, mate. And for the record, you're on the right track about the creatures thoughts. Maybe some more animalistic creations? Just a thought.

Awesome character design, exactly what I didn't realize I needed. I was going to ask a question about UV layouts then I see only 175 points and said to my self, "screw it, I'll find out myself". Got the assault and heavy. can't wait to check them out.

@Bendak11-Thanks I was trying to go with somethng that could fit with as many scifi genres as I could.I see exactly what you mean though about the snowtrooperish look.

@Cornett Media-"Bob Sageted" I wouldnt wish that curse on anybody,lol JK. It's good to be back. By animalistic, you mean Lyacnthropic? Because I was going to ask you about that. Shoot me an e-mail and let me know what's up with your project.

@Dr Parsnips-Thanks man!

@Errant AI- Thanks a million man! If you need the UV map just let me know. For the record, LOL, I love seeing retextures. By the way these guys have standard FPSC weapons by default but man they look much better with your weapons in hand. I didn't know if It was allowed to put that in the discription so I lef it out. But I'm posting it here.

Good to know. Please, I'd love the UVs though I can extract myself if need be. I did a quick test and the

models are superb (though I haven't seen them moving yet). The UVs look to be very cleanly laid out and I like the commonality of the maps between those two particular characters. They are going to look so awesome with the riot shield and body bunker I'm developing alongside the fantasy stuff.

I'm planning to do either a partial mod or a full retexture with shaders when I can catch a breather as I'd like very much to use these guys posing with weapons for GCS screenshots. I'm beyond getting tired of SAS guys all the time but there haven't been any other characters with consistent VWEAP registration (even though the SAS guys themselves are VWEAP registered to WWII guns which are nothing similar to modern as far as ergonomics go) to choose from.

Anyhow, I just want to say THANK YOU for building an selling these. They're stylistically a very good fit with the collection of concept art which I have been adding to for over a decade now. I always wanted to develop my concept world into a prototype game but I never got proficient with character modeling. So, these bring me that much closer to seeing it all come to life.

BTW, I have zero problem with cross-promotion. And I think info about what something works best with is a benifit to the shopper.

Cool deal, UV maps sent, I plan on making a 1 level demo game or possibly a MP map to show some performance with your weapons. Thanks for the great comments and in the future I will consult with you just to let you know I will have some cross promotion in my descriptions for the store.

Actually I was thinking more along the lines of actual animals. There's a very strange shortage of animals in the vast range of models that can be gotten, and quite honestly, I'm surprised no one's come up with a hunting game yet. *shrugs* Still, anthropomorphic creatures like in the Froggy Shoot Out game could also help; there's only so many times a werewolf works before you have to go "Okay, are there any other thropics around I can shoot?"

I'm still working on concepts for my first game, some design issues came up that I had to work around. But yeah, I'll email you in the next couple of days with an update and maybe the basis for what I'm thinking.

Here is a wip of my first store freebie. It's a sentry bot that a heavy gun rest under the front section, wich can be changed by just changeing his weapons. This is an early wip and I need to add more model details but essentially the base of the model is done. This is just to say thanks to everyone who bought/have been buying my stuff in the store as well as welcoming me back with such open arms.

@Cornett Media-I know what you mean about the shortage of animals; I think there is only one or maybe two people doing animals in the store as of late. I fear I need to improve my animation skills before I can delve into somethig like that, but it is now on my list.

Cool. With this new bot, could you put the head bone (I think bone01) under the font section then link the firespot to that so when the head rotate is called via script, the gun moves?

You would think so, but man it's giving me a real hard time about this. I actually had to atake a an anim set(heavy) and frame by frame reposition it to get it to set correctly.(and boy does my wrist hurt) It's primarily because I erased all of the upper bones and had to rename one for the firespot, but it retained its animation and is fighting the head turning, plus looking down. For a freebie its turning out to be allot of work, but it's no prob though; I have a week off of school coming up in wich I hope to get him finished. I also recieved your mail and will be replying extremely soon.(very excited)

Aih you mean my Tomb-Pack 2....or something like that?
No, i havent been able to recover any media i made that was on that computer.

But! I learned from my mistake! I bought a USB-stick 8 gb...and stuffed all of my media on it.
From the FPSC ready media to the 3ds, PSD files.

Anyway, i think i still have some remakes of those...on my computer somewhere...I'll try to find them..if i do.
I'll send them to you.

Thanks that would definitely rock! But just a suggestion- nothing beats a good few copies of data dvds to back up work. I run across countless USB drives that just don't read anymore. It reminds me of the weak structures of the old 3.4 disk.(god I'm old) So its good for a temp solution but I would burn them or invest in one of those portable hard drives that actually need to be plugged up.

On a side note I just recieved my Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection via UPS. So hopefully the books and classes will all pay off with some better textures. Anybody intrested in getting serious about game creation, I highly suggest going to school for it. You get all sorts of programs super cheap (usually paid for via grants or student loans) and then upgradeing to a professional liscense doesn't cost much at all compared to the original price. Seriously, my job pays well but I could have never just outright bought Photoshop without some serious financial reprocussions. Now that CS4 is coming out, the upgrade from student to pro is roughly $150-170(photoshop only). Join for the education, stay for the sweet programs,lol.

Thats a great idea...But on the other hand!
I get most programs free...or a huuge discount! Since i design posters, flyers etc...for companies.
So my boss likes to brag about his staff having certificates in photoshop, indesign, illustrator, adobe etc etc.
And thats why he wants to be sure we know what we do when we work with such a program...So we get them for free! Plus we get the lessons for free...what normally costs around the 700 euros...(thats just lessons for 1 program, that means if you do 2 it would cost 1400 etc)
we get them for free! I just love my job
