Quote: "Few jobs really contribute to mankind that positively"

How many jobs do you actually know?
Lets list all the people who contribute to mankind positively:
-Engineers
-Doctors/Dentists/Nurses
-Research Scientists
-Lecturers/Teachers
-Programmers
-Architects

I've written the jobs in the above groups. I really do not want to type out the thousands of jobs that contribute to humanity.

I'm not saying Pr0n is a bad thing. I'm just saying its not vital to have it.

I like Mike Inel's work. Hes a very talented artist. But I think its a bit off he has the urge to slip in pornographic material into everything he does.
Especially considering he knows full well this Forum has people who are underage.

Quote: "Wow. That's sort of sad, to be honest. I don't mean any offense, but a job in the animated pr0n industry? Tish, tish."

I don't see how - if he likes it and he can do it then why shouldn't he? If you liked a specific job and could perform it well and could get a living from it, wouldn't you do that too? I think it would be sad not to just because of what other people think of it. It's not their opinions that matter unless they're the customers you're targeting. For example, if I'm selling software to help programmer's program better, I'm not going to market it to the general market, I'm going to market it to the programmers. So, the statement above about it being sad is kind of ironic since most the world thinks what we do is sad.

^While I already said I was sort of joking, I guess I should clarify what I meant.

It's sad for two reasons: 1) As BigAdd said, it does not contribute any good to society. 2) It most definitely contributes at least some "bad" to society. I don't say that as in "Pr0n is bad!" I mean I've seen it mess up some people, and I know they aren't the only people in the world that it negatively affects. It can do anything from simply suck up tons of time (not uncommon) to completely distort how relationships with women are handled (sort of uncommon) to even leading to divorce (fairly rare, but it happens).

Now, I know you can't claim something is bad because it can cause damage. But, if it doesn't create any good while possibly doing damage, you have to question how beneficial it is.

Oh man. I want to put the world to rights, but have to go to work. I'm working part time for a supermarket BTW. Decide for yourself whether this is contributing positively to mankind's cause or not.

I agree with you Mahoney, but I can't see a reason why effort should be put into stopping it instead of more important matters. Over here in America, for starters, the economy is getting a bit worse. Workers are getting laid off because many companies can't afford to keep them on, etc. Not to change the subject of course, but I just feel it's not worth any time considering how unsubstantial of a problem it is. Further more, I can't even consider it a problem - If people enjoy watching the opposite sex strip down and fondle themselves willingly in front of a camera then let the viewer watch that instead of hide in a tree watching someone else do it and not even know they're being watched. Besides, it helps the models (or voice actors) make some money, and that's better than doing something illegal to make money, like selling drugs. That's my opinion on it. There is such a thing as an addiction to porn, but then again the same goes for sex - It doesn't do any real damage (as stated by someone else in the thread) it's victimless. I think that those people you mentioned in those rare cases are the ones that need help.

I'd like to say this though; I don't care about porn, I care about women. I spend my time trying to get dates with women, not watch porn.

<Slightly Off Topic>
STOP SPELLING "PORN" AS "PR0N" - IT'S ANNOYING, AND IT'S NOT A BAD WORD.

... Not necessarily true. You have to think about the effect that kind of thing can have on relationships and all that junk... but this isn't the place to discuss that.

Anyways Mike is a very talented artist, and Ioot was a good game. I never actually saw the 'easter egg' but I did have the misfortune of seeing some nsfw on his blog. Personally I do think it's a bit perverse to create 'virtual/animated' porn but if that's his niche then let him stay there...

It's kind of like alchohol. It serves no real purpose asides from entertainment. It can be addictive and has negative consequences for some users. However, i don't believe this justifies prohibition.

Alright it's time we stopped all this talk about a forum member who isn't even here to defend himself.
