Scroll down to the 'surprise' part and see how I've improved...

Hey guys, just learned how to animate... Been usin' the trial of FragMotion for a while, just bought it the other day, and decided to test out my skills with FPSC.

I will release it if EAI lets me use his hands (but the animations are custom).

I'll have to redo the idle, reload and definitely the walking anims, they kinda weren't good, but shouldn't be too hard to fix.

Ok, here's some screens... (for some reason the gun didn't turn out as 3d as it seemed in AC3D - It had ridges n' everything, but oh well)

Over all, I think it turned out pretty well

If I get permission from EAI, I'll release it for sure.

POST FEEDBACK!

Cheers

Oh, I know. I was too lazy to fix it...If I can release it, it'll be the first thing to be fixed...

You see those white spots? Those were supposed to be transparent, don't know why it didn't work....

Also, it only works with shaders off, don't know why.

I believe you need to make those spots black in order for them to be transparent. Anyway this looks great!

They always look more detailed in the modeling programs for me too.
Even the animations that are noticable in the modeling program become overlooked in FPSC.
I have found that the animations on some things turn out better when excess is used in the modeling program.
It all takes a lot of tweaking, but you will get better at it with practice.

This looks great for a first weapon.
Well done, and keep at it.

Thanks all I'm now working on a Bolt Pistol that looks even better as I figured out a better way to do anims.

How would I go about getting permission from Errant?

Oh, and I redid the walking animations, looks a hell of a lot better.

Double post

Here's a video, so sorry for the bad quality. The animations are very VERY smooth, but the recorder ruined it

Tell me what you think please...
EDIT: oops vid too big, hold on, zippin' it up...

Looks cool mate.
You ought to get something other than ac3d in my opinion though, even wings 3d, more flexibility

Thanks, but I'm very, very satisfied with AC3D as I've been using it almost ever since it first came out. I also know a lot of handy tricks. Please don't argue what I should get (@ everybody, not GJ)

I'm having this new problem where my gun is white, yet the hands are normal (it's a pistol I'm working on)... Will post a screen soon.

Here's the pistol I'm working on (basically finished)...

2 things, the texture is low quality, I know.
And you see that rigger shaped thing? It's not a trigger, it's like the middle of the gun where the left hand holds it. It just looks like a trigger.

comment, please

Cheers

No offense, but the pistol is a bit, uh, blocky. I'm not saying all blockyness is bad, its just that it looks like a block with a texture on it. (and it's massive for a pistol!)

Yes, it looks blocky, but it's actually very highly detailed, dunno why it always seems that way in FPSC.

Also, if you think that's massive, check out the Warhammer 40k BOLTER and you'll see what I mean, lol.

maybe you should make one.

back on topic, the pistol looks a little toobig. you might want to consider scaleing it down a bit.

It really does look like a cardboard cutout, because FPSC isn't going to alter the geometry of anything. I would suggest extruding some more detail out.

Kudos for learning how to animate so quickly though.

Alright, I'll believe toasty, lol, I'll try. I'm making a shotgun that'll include all the improvements people have suggested. But it does look cool (the rifle) for some reason, right? Like the texture made me smile

Quote: "maybe you should make one"

Well, Toasty already made Warhammer weapons and wouldn't that be a copyright issue for using a company trademark or something?

Cheers, thanks for all your comments

PWP

[edit] Just thought of something, what if I called the pistol a LASER Cannon instead? Then it would be size proportionate... right?

Yeah the rifle looks very cool, even for a cardboard cutout. It should look smashing when it has some more detail though, the basic outline looks like a very cool design.

Wait, that pistol is meant to be a pistol? How odd, I've never seen a pistol as huge as that - a pistol that is basically layed out as a p90 but with less round edges.

Alright, here's the surprise, and yes it has EAI hands, it just doesn't show much. And if you don't know what it is, then shame on you

That's part of the reload (below) where he hits the bolt...

Don't ask me why I did that, I just felt like it and it was cool. It also gave me good practice on animation...

Cheers

Oh, and even if I get permission from EAI, there's no way I'm releasing this gun, don't wanna get in trouble

Move the gun down and forward a bit, unless you just cut part of the screen off. If that is an unedited screen, then move it. Right now we can't see much.

Is that an FAL in the last 3 screens? I'd recommend increasing the lighting to better show off your texture work, but it looks very nice from what I can see.
