here is a pic of my first weapon. the texture is pretty bad because this was one of my earlier models. also how do you change the position of the gun (my gun as you can see is a little high).

You sure that model is yours? Because I have that same model, it was done by 3DRT...

It's OK to use other people's work, as long as you don't claim them as your own. I've used models by 3DRT for my weapons, I gave full modeling and texturing credit to 3DRT.

Alright, sorry, I found the same picture on google I'm very sorry mate...

Anyways, to change the position of the gun, you have to move the gun in the animator/program you're using. The origin of the three axis, XYZ, is where the player's camera is (basically).

That's gigantic for a UMP .45! Try scaling that down some first. Other than that, it's really just a cardboard cut-out. Try going in and really hand crafting the details on it.

I was simply giving you crit on your OLDER model, which is all I've seen. If you want crit on your newer models then please post them. It's never too late to go in and change your old stuff to make it better.

That model looks nice, once you texture and animate it then get it ingame, I'll give you some constructive crit, because I can't come up with much crit now.

ok, here is some constructive crit, good work, it lookes a little boxy but it still is all around realy good.

I don't think it looks too boxy. It looks very nice!!! I'm loving to see what it looks like with texture and in-game! Are you going to rig it?

Dont listne to him.You change the weapon position in gunspec.You will notice forward,horizontal and vertical lines in the gunspec,modify those

The new gun in now way is bad. For low poly weapon its about as good as it gets plus the gun in real life IS boxy there for you hit it dead on. Hope your texture turns out nice cause the model is very nice. A great model will only be as good as the texture not the other way around so dont spend to much time getting the model super detailed when the player will only look at the texture and hopefully say "sweet" and move on to the rest of the game grafix.

i'm having General Jackson rig it for me. the reason why i'm having him do it for me is because...

1) i'm not quite skilled enough to do good animations
2) i want it to have hands and i DEFINITELY cant do that
3) it'll be good learning experience for me

Make sure to model and map the hands with the gun before anything else. I have some hands if you need some to go with it. Email me if you do.

Yeah. Like this one? There's a wire you can compare on the site. Uncanny.

Didn't someone else use that exact same model a few months ago (with the top rail removed)?

Indeed.

It's worth noting that the model with wire overlay shown in this thread is lacking smoothing groups and is all triangles. That commonly happens when a mesh is converted to(from?) .3ds.

Was thinking the same thing. Hope it really is your work tho cause it would be nice to see another good weapon modeler on the scene. Texture King will always stay EAI tho.

everyone, i just want you to know that awhile ago i had a thread (http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=138952&b=24) where i i did steal other peoples work, but that was when i was new to FPSC along with 3d modeling (as you can see from me using sketch up) and i wouldn't do that again.

back to GJ animating:

i just tested the gun and it worked fine except the bobbing is a little extreme. besides that it looks great and works great. also since it doesn't have any sound right now, you only hear the sound of the bullet hitting the material and it almost as if it has a silencer

EDIT

COULD A MOD LOCK THIS

if this hasn't started well, it won't end well.

Anyways I wont animate the other guns unless you can prove they are YOURS.

I dont want to get in trouble.


{edit} compared wireframes and the sig is DEFINITELY not your gun.

I will not be animating anything else for you unless you provide a video of you modeling it.

Get Debut. Its a good enough one as far as free goes. Do a google search for it and I am sure you will find it pretty easy.
