I've been messin' with photoshop, made a few huds...

Yet I have a big question, I want some parts of certain huds to be see-through, I've done it before, yet have forgotten how. Each time I add a transparency layer, the huds come up invisible in-game. If anyone would like to make the white parts transparent, I will post the HUDs I need to be... 'transparentified'.

But anyways, the download is attached as a RAR. The Hand hud, and the SCIFI Hud are the ones I want to have transparentified (I know it's not a word).

I will post a screen after this post
Oh, and I forgot to mention, I will be making a lot of free huds AND will be taking requests if I can get transparency sorted out.

And the screenshot of the Grunge hud, note that there are 3 more huds in the first pack that I will not take snapshots of due to transparency issues

Nice!

Could you make some like the ones they had in Condemned: Criminal Orgins?

Here's a picture:

Instead, make the yellow one on the bottom an ammo HUD instead of a "sprint" one. Thanks.

The problem is that there is no transparency channel on the HUDs - to get one, you need to save it as a .dds file in DX5 Explicit Alpha and the alpha channel is automatically generated. I would do this for you but Photoshop CS4 64bit doesn't support the .dds plugin.

Why don't you send them to me. I'll fix the alpha, and when I see what you're doing I can try to help you in the right direction.

PW Productions,

On the hand HUD, I copied the entire thing onto a transparent layer, and then deleted the area that should be transparent. Then I made the hand layer partially transparent. You may even want to go more transparent on it... or not.

On the scifi HUD, I couldn't determine what part was supposed to be transparent, so I made the entire thing partially transparent.

I would start with a blank, transparent layer, add your content layer, and then adjust the transparency of each layer as you add it. I use PNG instead of TGA, and let FPSC convert it to DDS. It works well for me. That way, you don't have to fiddle with the transparency settings when you save it as a DDS.

Files attached.

Brian.

Thanks xplosys, the hand turned out great, I'm sorry I didn't really specify what parts of the scifi hud should be transparent, sorry about that. The scratches (white) should be transparent, sorry for the trouble... I figured out that an easy way to transparify the image is to start out with a transparent layer, then draw on top of that.

@ Chris Redfield, I finished that hud of yours. But... it turned out so good that I'm afraid I'll have to charge you 3 USD for it... Nah, I'm just kidding, it's free See the attached image, download if you like it, and tell me if you want me to redo it

Sorry for the double post, made a replacement Damage Hud... I think it has transparency, I didn't test it in-game, but I will soon.

To replace your old damage hud, go to Gamecore\Huds and backup the eyehud.dds file. Then replace it with the DamageHud1.tga. Rename the damagehud1.tga to eyhud.tga.

Download attached, enjoy.

I hope that was a compliment, not a threat... Because I put about an hour's work into them, no I did not take them from the pic. I did use the screen as a reference though. If I ripped it, gave it away, that'd be illegal...

But anyways, I was thinking of making shorter length ones, so that when you're health is less than _X_, the image changes to be shorter. I don't know how you'd do that with ammo, however. Just use numbers and put 'em in the yellow bar But I'll get to work on the depleting versions later; gotta work on some 3D stuff over on the Chat boards.

Could you make me a FEAR hud please? I would use metaldevil's but it is too cartoony for my game.

Thanks

Ben

I need a screen as a reference, it's all I work off of.

@ Bootlicker, started on that hud, not going so well, but will keep trying, sorry it's taking so long.
