I downloaded the Music Maker 4 demo and had the same respone you did. If I'm thinking right you want the pretty/emotional pieces from Final Fantasy that use things like synthesized orchestras. So the best programs for that are Sibelius and Finale. Sibelius is meant to do more things with less effort, while Finale is more professional grade (and costs more). They work like you're writing down a score on paper, so if you can notate music (quarter notes, treble clef, do these sound familiar?)and want more control than just a dj studio type thing then these are the best.

Sibelius: [href]www.sibelius.com[/href]
Finale: [href]www.finalemusic.com[/href]

hope you find what you're looking for,
Juvy

OH god.. the loops....and the 11hz sampling...

Orchastral music ehhh...

I use GigaStudio 128 for orchestral music.. but be warned.. you need a somewhat fast Processer, and somewhat expensve monitors (speakers as most people would think of them) to run effeciently. You also need a F*ckload of money for the gigasamples (whatever number your thinking right now..add atleast 200, if not more) and a good sound card. Plus you need a controller of somesort so you can play the sh*t.

As for Nobou Uematsu composing... i doubt you have the studio to do that. Hell i've seen a few pics of his studio... then i took a look at mine...and it f*ckin blew me away (and ask the few people who have seen my studio, Aaron and a few others on the forums... it ain't a cheapo job).

Here is a sample i whipped up in Dance eJay 3...

- FF Style

It's not the best, i agree.. but, still, it's good if your a beginner and it allows you to create some pretty gnarly (cool) effects..

Cant beat Dance 4 (maybe 5, but thats buggy).

Useless Fact #1 : Sibelius was originally for the Acorn Archimedies - very powerful piece of software (and rather expensive). Unfortunately their latest version isn't availiable for the Archimedies...

well, if he were to use Finale, then he'd need a nice software sampler or a synthesizer to sequence anything out besides midi. The only sampler I can recomend for the music he is wanting to do is GigaStudio 160( http://www.nemesysmusic.com ) as it is the fastest and most reliable sampler on the market. I could also recomend Native Instruments' Kontakt, but it's nowhere near as reliable as Giga is.

here are the Gigasample libraries that I recomend(and that I use):

Animal crackers in my soup, monkeys an' rabbits, loop ey loop...

I love that song. Can someone make a techno remix of it for me...

JK, I just want to say that Fruity Loops is your best choice if your begining. Its neet, but you need a good sound card...

Or you could just change Aarons work slightly and call it your own...

Tee hee....

see?

11Hz Sampling is good for some...

And eJay is relatively cheap.

Ive never used Any eJay product other than eJay SE (includes Dance 1, Hip Hop 1, Rave 1), Dane eJay 3, Dance eJay 4 Demo.

Oh, and i think some of those sounds may have been some of the [url=http://]*Free*[/url] samples that are available on the eJay website...

Yeah i think i'll be buying a few "Symphonic" sets in the next few weeks, but i need to save just a few more bucks so i have somthing to lean on just incase i need it. (4000$ is alot...)

If my next Paycheck is hefty sum, i may get "Voices of the Apocolypse", but i doubt i will have the money .

EJay 6 looks quite good. Dont get Ejay 5 - it is very bugged; get 3 or 4 (or perhaps 6 if you want to wait).

Even if the sampling is low, they are still very good qualtity.
