I thought of this game for the "DBPro Coding Challenges" thread.
http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=48011&b=1&p=72
But i enjoyed doing it so much, that i decided to continue.

Most people probably might not be familiar with the style of "Zork", or "Hitchhikers Guide To the Galaxy, the Game".
back then it was called a "text adventure". Now it's often called Interactive Fiction.

Basically, you read the descriptions of places and the things you find there, and then decide what to do, by typing commands.

This program understands a simple Verb/Noun structure,
like "Examine Alien", or "Open Locker".
in fact many commands work with just the verb, and most can be shortened to 1 letter. "G" to get whatever is laying on the ground, "N" to walk north.

The first installment is "Alien Abduction : The Awakening".
hit the download button below.

The second is called "The Perilous Planet", and continues right from where you left off in the last game (it loads your winning saves). This is 99% complete, but i want to get reactions/suggestions for stuff i might need to change.

Design is begun for the next two episodes, but no coding.

Please let me know what you think, and especially, if anyone actually finishes the game, i'd love to know.

I made a text adventure before. Wasn't as nice as this looks. Good job.

It'd be cool if someone managed to use one of those speech libraries to add voice commands instead of just typing them.

I don't have anything to link to, but there's gotta be some kind of speech engine that will translate your vocal words into written words. A speech-to-text engine. Then someone with a microphone could just say "walk to door" and your game would react.

part 2 : The Perilous Planet is now 99% complete.

and, since it's coming in 4 parts,
when it's totally done,
i will release all together, with a "shell executor" program,
that runs the 4 games in succession, so you can play the whole game
without running 4 different programs.

hey, i know it's been a while, but part 2 is done. i've been working on some other things,
Random Realms, my first Roguelike
planning for Space Conquest
and a new thing too...

but here it is,

Alien Abduction
part 2
The Perilous Planet

if you finished the first game, put this one in the same folder,
and you can load a saved game, and continue from where you left off!
