Yes I am another person trying to win the acoders contest. My entery's plot is this. Basicly you are in space when earth is destroyed by aliens (its the year 3000) and you your ship's sped increase to light speed go back in time and try to save earth and several otther planets. Half the levels are going to be space combat, and the other half will be a fps. I would also like help in code if anyone will. Screenshots below.

You can't see the trigger in either of the pictures. If you study them carefully you can see how to hold it.

I'm having some trouble with shooting form the fighter. If someone will help please do. You turn the fighter with the arrow keys and you move forward with the shiftkey and backwards with the control key. Please help.

Simple way to shoot:

make lots of bullet objects
orient it to the position and rotation of the fighter
move object forward
hide the object after a short while/after hitting something/after going too far

My way (slow in DB):
Make a custom type and code it OOP style (Even the movement of the bullet is controllable!) with dynamic objects (make to use, delete after use)

I tried making a 2D shooter in DB using plains. The bullet code was so slow because they were dynamic. But on the 2.0Ghz laptop I could have over 140 dynamic bullets running at a steady 40 fps (DBC, on a radeon 9000).

Kequor;
Good concept idea, I was thinking of something along the same lines, except going FORWARD in time, lol...

I wouldn't mind an exe if you're willing to email it to me
sweet_prozack@hotmail.com

Also, I am quite willing to help with the code if you require it, all I ask for is 70% of the prize when this game wins... lol, just messing with ya

But, seriously, I could help with the code if you like? ( only occasionally though ). I have both DBC and DBP, so platforms are not a problem

Jess.

Which one? The simple way or my way? I posted my way on the code snippets board. It's basically the simple way but tweaked a bit. So, forget what I said about OOP lol

I just wanted to help.
But, as I said, It'll be pretty limited help, it'd be more like, if you get stuck on something, you could just PM me or eMail me, and I'd help out.

Again, if you want to accept the offer, my email is;

Missile effect code? Not as such...

Search for particle effects on the forums ( mainly the Code snippets and DBP forums ), and also search for "Machine Gun" in the DBC forum and go to the thread that I was last to post in, that is, if you're looking for multi fire code.

Jess.

Wow! Your graphics are looking very nice. And your game idea is pretty clever too: Earth is destroyed, and you have to go back in time to fight the aliens who destroyed it. That is a pretty good idea.

With half the levels being a space combat, and the other a first person shooter, it sounds like there will be quite a lot of variety.

I wish you the best of luck on your entry!

You may want to lower the polys a little on your projectiles. A few won't make a huge impact, but several being shot can slow things down pretty fast.

Looks like fun so far. Be neat to play it.

i hate being realistic, men, your models suck, you got try harder , lower poligon count, improve design, look if you wont i can teach you some stuff on making nice space ships, if everyone wants that ill make a tuturial,

now, dont get me wrong men, you look commited and hard worker, but you defenitly need someone to make your models (cant help in that cause i have my own team to acoders), or at least improve them.

...not shure if i should have posted this.

I will make urban chaos 2, ive already concepted the story, its my dream, i wont to go to muky foot

It really doesn't matter how old someone is. I am older than you and my modelling skills aren't that good. The competition is based on gameplay, not graphics, so as long as you don't have horrible graphics you should be good with your game. Good luck!

looks like no ones interested in my offer :-P

@antdizzle

*cough*alienware compo, you think even if a game was amzing brilliant coding but all the players were colourd cubes, you think that game would win? or a less quality game that still runs but has amazing gfx which is more likely to win?

and besides gameply is most of the points but gfx music everything they ammount to more than the gameplay points, also if everything is cubes they you may not be able to recognise whats what so your gameplay points would go down
