I have been working on this game for quite a while. I think it's almost time for realease(All I need to finish is my kazza safe and save system), but I need some feedback on graphics, game play, how to fix that stupid bug where all the cars turn into one. Here's the link http://www.freewebs.com/fleaware/cargo.rar . That's it enjoy.

PS. Sorry for the download time. I'm getting it fixed soon.

Yeah so you can save your game. And a Kazza safe isn't that hard just make it so that the game needs certain files to run, if not then it closes down on them. Then make an installer that works once and only once for installing the Kazza safe files. And that's it, what do you think I am, a Noob?

no, I've just never heard of a "kazaa safe file"... the only Kazaa I know is the file^sharing system, which mentioning here will probably make people wary of downloading your file, because kazaa is virus heaven.

You can download anything on kazaa, and lots of people put viruses in stuff that you download. Just cos you have kazaa doesn't mean you have a virus.

Trying is the first step towards faliure.

Kazza has SpyWare built into it. This game is anti-Kazza, so could I have some feed back about the game and less about Kazza(No Offence).

And yes the sever is slooooooooooooow. I'm getting it fixed soon.

Its not exactly Kazaa safe... Because why dont people put the files you need to run the games... on Kazaa! lol, Simple, Plus It seems you're releasing this for free which means it makes no difference to you if they get it off Kazaa or Your website

It's not for free. The demo is, and it has a time limit. To put the files on kazza you'd need find them first. Plus I'm also goin to write to the regestry.

Your going to write to the registry to protect a mediocre game that you will charge about 5 bucks for and sell few copys from people wanting to download your game from kazza?!?! I downloaded it and was extremely boring...going in a straight line watching out for pokey things in the ground. I am extremely sorry for the negative comments, but I really don't think its neccesary to write to the already bloated and unorganized windows registry to protect a darkbasic game from piracy.

I just downloaded your files. You have clearly corrected the slow download problem...it downloaded in a couple of seconds!

I will take it for a run later tonight and I'll send you my impressions.

The game doesn't do much. Plus it is made in a world that breaks the rules of nature, and makes no sense. The game is nothing more than a programming exercise. Keep making things like this, and you will have some codeing experience, then you can make a proper game.

What makes it so nonsensical, The train is Hovering(It's in the future). Explain, should I maybe make the enemy ships more of a threat. Should I make the theme more obvious. My god, It's train of course you can't go off the track!?!?!

What makes it nonsensical is the fact that spires are spinning through the ground. What is that supposed to be? My first impression is that you are doing tests in DB, and not making a game.

I can't seem to get it, keep getting 404 errors.

I'd like to check it out, but would be wary of posting any feedback. You seem to take criticism a bit personally (no offense) and wouldn't want to anger you.

But would still ilke to give it a ride.

You are asking for constructive criticism so i'll do my best given the circumstances (bearing in mind your hardly in my good books anyway after your previous flames).

Well seeing as you intend to sell this rather than give it away I have to view your games next to respected shareware software teams like Cornutopia for instance.

Unfortunately I cannot do this, because there is no comparability in quality of any aspect of this game even to most of the free games around here.

Firstly gameplay, in your previous thread you flamed me quite heavily and insisted that graphics didn't matter at all and that gameplay was all important, so I expected a game that played well. Especially as you intend to sell it.

If gameplay is measured in how long I played your game then it scored about 12 seconds, 2 seconds where spent getting the controls right, 4 seconds playing it, and then 6 seconds trying again because I couldn't believe the game was so awful. I exited the game after those two goes and then thought no... it cannot be that bad and loaded it again. I persevered, I really did, got passed the water section and the whole time did not enjoy the game play experience.

What didn't I like about it? Firstly the view is too constrained, if you know the track you can probably go very quickly, if you dont then you go slowly, either way makes no difference, all you have to do is wait for the spires to get out of your way before you pass them.

Exciting stuff.

The game did not have any interactivity that I could see.

Now on to graphics, I know you dont think graphics matter, and to an extent you are right. Civilisation had poor graphics even by standards of the day, but this was because it was a strategy game. This is an arcade game ( I think ) and therefor requires the graphics to look good.

Well they are not awful i'll give you that, and they do have some originality to them. They are not shareware standard, in fact there are many many freeware titles that put the graphics here to shame, but to gripe I have with the graphics isn't the actual artistry at all, it's the way they've been coded.

The train goes through the landscape, there's some kind of hill or is it a forest? The train just passes through it rather than passes over it. The graphic, whatever it is (some kind of green splodge), does not appear to be a tunnel, and sometimes doesnt completely obscure the train but passes through half of it. That and the lack of any kind of special effect as the train went over the water really showed.

Musically I see the inspiration, Railroad Tycoon, it's quite good at first, but I am sad to report I soon found it infuriating. I did not notice any other sound effect at all, i'm not sure, but I think I heard something whilst hovering waiting for a spire to rotate.

So far on gameplay, graphics and sound i'd rate this game as very very poor indeed. If you where releasing it for free i'd probably think the same, but have been kinder in my delivery.

However the game does have some good elements and it would not be fair for me to finish off without mentioning them.

The framerate appears good, on my machine it was smooth and I noticed no slow down at all.

Sorry to say I cant think of anything else at the moment, but if anything occurs to me i'll be sure to mention it - unless of course you just want to launch in to one of your violent mood swings in which case ... i'll leave you to it.

Your post is to long I'm bored. But I don't remember flaming you. Anyway, really different people have different ideas of gameplay. I know everyone loves FPS here, but I find them really boring. Well I think you havn't exactly explored the game. It's not meant to be a big, adventure game. It's supposed to be something you play to calm down, like snood. I suggest that you try screwing around with your clock then trying. Try at night and day. In the full version you can earn new trains. Thanks for the critism. What I've never played railroad tycoon, It's acctually based on Feeding Frenzy(don't ask), Sonic and GTA.

lol manticore insulting people isnt the way to go,

anyways i cant d/l any of the links besides the 1 kb/s one so i guess i cant play it :-P

but imo its impossible to make anything kazza safe, coz any determined hacker could crack the exe or something, and how does writing to the registry help anything?

I ran it on my computer and I thought it pretty good. I mean its original who else has a train game like that. The only thing is you should use a better train. I also thought the space bar idea was pretty cool. Just try to make the game look a little more realistic with some better models, start with the train.
