lol.
that's just not very convincing..

Not that I wouldn't believe you can be friends with the opposite sex.. even my best (and currently the only) friend is a girl. pretty much always have been like that...

I know what you mean, girls can provide some much needed sense and are great for helping you fathom women. It's never a good idea to sleep with your friends, no matter how blasse some people are about it, it's much better to work your way through their friends instead .

Actually from a programming perspective, particularly an indi perspective where DB is aimed, the best "brain configuration" would be somebody who can combine both logic and artistic zest at the same time. Therefor your crannial argument suggests woman are better programmers than men, particularly at the indi level, as woman have more connections between each side of their brain and are therefor able to use both in parallel.

Whether all this adds up to 2 or not is another matter.

Yeah, female friends are all well and good for the pub etc, but you gotta have lads as your close friends. The reason being, for the exact reason this thread has started. Where are the women? Well, they're not here because not many are into coding. In fact, the two sexes have vastly different interests (generalisation, but mostly true), which makes good friendships hard.

I'm not saying you can't be mates with girls. I have a bunch of female mates, but I get the emotional closeness I need from my Mrs, which kinda negates the need for that from my female mates. What's left? Good conversation? Like-minded interests? Well, no. Blokes are on the same wavelength, and have the same interests, where most women are not. So who am I gonna hang out with most?

No disrespect to women. Just blokes make better friends, in my opinion, unless (A) you need that emotional level, cos you're lacking it elsewhere, or (B) the girl in question happens to have the same interests and be on the same wavelength.

... or (C), you're kidding yourself and you secretly want to shag her.

And btw, in my experience this is never a two way thing. Women dont think the same way. They seem to like having male friends. Tis dellusion, I tell you!!

Signature? No! Obsolete! These days it's all about chip and pin!

I think that right brain/left brain thing is a bunch of non-sense that someone cooked up to explain humen beings. It might be true, but we still all act alike. (Although some girls in my school depend thier life on msn messanger)

Just my opinion.

Actually it's been scientifically proven with instruments that measure brain activity. They run a bunch of people through tests (involving logic, mathematics, emotions, etc) and watch how their brain activity differs, you'd be quite surprised to find that there's quite a large difference between the sexes.

I can't sleep on my right side. To tell the truth I don't understand how anyone can. When I sleep on my left I dose off quite quickly, but I try to sleep on my right side and the blood weight on the right hand side of the brain keeps it active and keeps me awake!. If I sleep on my back I get nightmares. That's how I reckon it works in my head at least. It's quite handy though, if I don't want to fall asleep I lie on my right - great for watching DVD's.

Anyone else have a strange water-puzzle style brain?

actually using both sides of your brain at once is INEFFECIANT becuase you only need a few certain parts of your brain for certain tasks...using all of your brain is overkill... so being effeciant is only using the right(not the directiontal right ) parts of your brain for the current situation

LOL Van...

If I sleep on my back, I cant sleep, if I sleep on my right, I cant sleep, if I sleep on my left, I cant sleep. Sleeping on my front doesnt make me sleep either. So either:

1. Im a terrible sleeper

2. I have no blood in my brain.

3. Theres blood everywhere!

Im not sure if 3. is a possibility...

So how do you get to sleep? - You do sleep don't you? . I used to get real bad insomnia when I was about 20, nowadays I'm usually asleep before my bed get's warm.

I have to sleep on my back, pesky old injuries...

When I was a lad I was playing American Football, I played WR who's job it is to run up the field and catch the ball: Well I ran up the field, turned, caught the ball, and continued at full pelt backwards into a rugby post. Thankfully I didn't drop the ball and scored the 6pts.

You kids today get it easy with your padded posts I tell you, that one hurt for 6 years, and still twinges.

I sometimes lay on my side before I doze off for a bit, but couldn't do a whole night like that because my back would be hurting the next day.

Yeah, it's hard to breathe through pillows these days, so lack of breath tend to make you roll over, lol

I tend to sleep on my left side, but that's only cos I watch telly in bed on my right side, and my neck gets sore in that position for so long, so I roll over and it doesn't hurt anymore... Thus, sleep

I can't sleep on my back.
And I can only sleep when curled up in the featal ( spelling? ) position ( but that may have something to do with the fact that I'm 6'3", and I don't fit on my Queen sized bed! lol ).

Jess.

I sleep on my right side, curled up. It's just so comfy that way... Yes, gone far off topic we have.

I haven't spoken to a girl who isn't my relative. So sad... T_T

Damn... 6 ft tall? Only 16? That's a pro-basketball player. I'm only 5'7" and I'm 17! Why is everyone else so tall and mature looking... I've seen pictures of some female artists in deviantart, some are only 16 yrs old, but they look HELL older than me. (And they look like they weigh more ^_^)

lol...

I am now 17 ( my b.day was on the 2nd ). But, yes, I am 6'3"...
Most of my mates are this tall too. One of my good friends is 6'4" and he's stocky too.
Whereas, I'm a medium build ( not as skinny as a twig, but not quite a rubgy player, lol )

I actually quite enjoy basketball on the odd occasion, and if my legs are up to it, I can hang off the ring

But, mostly I like skating and playing Tennis and Squash

Wow... You're right... Way off-topic.

What was the original topic again? "Girl Coders" Hmmm...
Well, there ARE some, not many, and they mostly don't like these forums cos of the harrasment they get from guys... And cos it's a male dominated forum...

But, enough of that! Back to sleeping patterns!
When I try to sleep on my back, I tend to get really restless, and squirm for hours... Then I end up getting up and doing some codeing or something like that, lol.

Jess.

So, Australians are really that tall? You're making me feel small!

Anyway, usually I'd feel sleepy at 9pm. But if I stay up late till 10:30 I won't fall asleep until midnight or 1 am. Each mug of coffee keeps me awake for 6 hours, but 2 mugs will make me shake and twitch the entire following day. Coffee = For emergency cramming purposes only, like solo-flighting group projects!
