Fast... It's awesome.

Drums are a great responsibility... They aren't just for playing around with.

Why is it that when I ping www.thegamecreators.com, I only get 72MS pings, but when I try forum.thegamecreators.com I get 172MS pings?

I am in the USA and on DSL and have no trouble at all with speeds.

Read my posts in this thread for details, I'm not explaining it again.

rich my only worry is that it uses the cogent backbone, they have a reputation for going down a lot (but that probably varies from place to place and network load)

if the forum can stay up for the next 2-3months (excluding ddos attacks), i'll be impressed

As for the forum's time offset, I'd like to point out that CEST is GMT+2 (CET is GMT+1).

I'm having lots of 404 errors since the server swap, it seems to go for a short while when it does then eventually return for a bit, as if the server keeps resetting.

The top menus (with all the products) are gone now, might wanna fix that

It is a lot faster though, I was on vacation when it changed, and I had to connect on dialup, it wasn't painful at all here

Rich removed those menus for speed Mattman, he said that earlier in the thread I think.

Cheers,
Preston

Getting more instances of the server vanishing and it's really annoying because it can loose my posts when that happens.

been pretty smooth sailing here with the new forum server - kudos Rich.

I have seen one weird thing however, sometimes when I click the favorites link to come here, the page doesn't load straight away like it should, but if I immediately reclick the link, the page loads right up. Only happens sometimes but is weird when it does happen.

Anyone else (other than Andy) noticed the server "vanishing" ? It hasn't been offline once, the log files show no periods of inactivity and no-one else has reported this yet. So until they do there isn't much I can look into. Andy - it should be significantly faster for you seeing as you're in the UK. Try a few trace routes, see where your ISP is sending you.

Cheers,

Rich

Mattman - yes, I removed the JS menus - makes for a faster load time. The area will be filled shortly, I have plans...

Until then, can you put tht option like in our profile to turn it on/off, because otherwise its hard to get to stuff on here and it was already super fast for me (im on cable)
