Wow. This is cool. Just like any pro RPG.
A few things though. The greyish background of the speech box stretched past the orange lines. It seemed strange hitting against the wall on the first part. As if I was hitting the sky. Could you add pad suport in as it would feel better moving the guy with a pad rarther than a keyboard?

Thank you for trying everyone!

@MIR
Ya, the grey area is suppose to go pass the orange lines. That area is reserve for facesets. So I leave it there for future purposes. As for going towards a wall in the first part...dont seems to understand that, is it the collision with the cliff? And I might add pad support, but the only problem is, I do not have a pad, so there is no way I can test it out once I coded it.

@David T
Thanks for the comment! And ya, the trees is made from tree[d], but I didnt make those trees. Its made by a friend, cus I am currently too poor to offend gile[s] ...feel kind of bad keep asking her to make trees...beginning to save some money now...hope I can save up enough...haha

Thanks for trying you guys!

What I meant by the strange wall was: I thought the skydome on the first part was a beach the first time I saw it so I tried to run on it only to find that it was a wall.
I could test out pad functionality if you want. It´s just like the cursor keys but you´ve got to add a buffer as DirectX only takes absolute 0 as 0 so the character would be wondering about on his own wthout a buffer. Here´s some functions that the_winch gave me:

Hmmm one more question... emmm...actually two. First, when you bump into those little dudes, they yalk to you, and the text like "scrolls" not just like appears? How did you do that? Is it an animated GIF? Also, how did you encrypt your source and media files (yourfile.vd)....all those .vd files?

Great game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahh, ok...i'll see what i can do with the code, seems easy enough. And u will be testing it once i implement it!

@Indian Homie G
The text is just a function that take in the whole string, and output it one letter by one letter, its all with left$, right$ commands...as for media encrytion, its all included inside the exe. The vd files are the game data files which contains the scripts and stuff.

The RAR files are back up, sry bout that, but i will be taking it down in 2-3 hrs....going to be uploading a new version when I moved into the universtiy res....haha

Enjoy!

Same with Ilya. It's mostly 50-60 FPS unless I'm near the guy on the cliff.

In case you're interested in the "End of the Beta" section The character can walk about a quarter of the way up the cliffs.

Okay cool, but the .vd files, but how can they contain scripts? Is this written in DB Pro??? How do you put scripts, etc, in a .vd or .whatever file? Thanks!

Oh yeah, and 1024x768 i get like around 60 FPS. Cheers!

@Ilya
Hmm..no full screen...think I forgot to put that back in...oops
As for why everyone's head size is different is because those arent the final models that will be in the game. They are just place markers, I could just use cubes models, but those were laying on my hard drive, so I just put those to good use...haha

@Bear Crazy Donut Productions
Thanks for telling me that, seems I limit the collision points a bit too high, will fix that.

@Indian Homie G
Yep, it is written in DBP. The scripts is just simple words letting my game know what each object will do next. Without these, it will be hard to do complex events. If you play with RPGMaker before, you will understand what I mean hehe. You can open the .vd files with notepad or any other word program. Its just like any normal saving files. Its actucally quite simple to do once you get use to it.

Thank you all for trying, might be uploading another version with some fixes. But for now, need to prepare for res first before I can get my computer set up. haha...ohh, hate university....haha
Currently programming a cutscene editor to go along with my current eidtor, it will allow me to...hmm......make cutscene easier. will have a few shots of it soon, maybe even a movie
Once again, thank you for trying it!

@Snipa Masta
I will think about it...maybe after i am done with the game! hehe

well, after finish doing the main engine for the game, and finish the basic engine for cutscenes, i decide to finally do some real models. however, before doing that, I will first do the visual aspect of the game. Mainly GUIs. I made a complete new gui system for the game, i ditched the editor's gui cus it not pretty . I done a beta of the gui. Here is the screenshot of this running. I uploaded the beta, i hope you guys could test it out of me. See if how fast it runs, i want to make sure this system runs fine on all systems. If you do help out testing it, please tell me how long it took to load and what the fps is. And of cus, u can try and find bugs in it as well.

It is currently running at 4 windows with 50 buttons each. Shouldnt have any problem with the file cus no media was used in this.

Hi,

i am busy working on the cutscene editor and the special effects editor. (yes, i like to make an editor for everything..haha)

So far, the cutscene is working fine, just need to make the camera movement less "blocky". The special effects one is coming along nicely, the following 2 shots of what i have accomplish so far.

CutSceneED

SpecialEffectED

The effects still need a lot more work, but its coming along.
well, thats it for now.

endfunction

function fadeout()
for gamma=1 to 255 step 1

some videocards don't support gamma, and it only works in Full Screen Exclusive mode... another technique is to make a full-screen black sprite, and change it's alpha value.

Quote: "How long do you think you need to make this game?"

Probably awhile, even after i finish making the editor, i still need to make all the 3d models for the game...thats going to take awhile, unless i get lazy and start using chubby style character haha

@Mind Storm 101
HAHAHA, ur rpg is really good too...mine feel small compare to urs haha

@N30F15H
Quote: "how did u do the GUI (with blue or make it urself or what?)"

ya, as Ilya said, i did the GUI myself, its a set of functions that do the gui automatically...massive sprite..is all i can say..HAHA

@Indian Homie G
Yep, used the method that walaber said. I use sprite and alpha for fadein and fade out

Hope this give u an idea how i made the fade screen cus the gamma way only works on full exclusion mode.

Thanks for all ur comments all! hope to have another update soon! haha

For those who havent heard...i am making Vatica as a test project for my "RPG editor", DreamCreator. You guys can see the things about DC in the game theory section. I am using DC to make Vatica now, so it will take sometime before i hav things to show, cus VaticaED is outdated far too much compare to DC. I have NOT abandoned Vatica or DC, it just takes time to make 3d models and fix internal bugs. It will NEVER be abandon cus making a rpg is my dream for a long long time. It will take time though....sry didnt post it in this thread...^__^

What i mite do is release vatica "episodes" each month once i get DC running perfectly. but...thats just a thought so far, no planning is made about this yet.

I have NOT abandon these ^......^_^V hehe
