If you have a problem with animals' throats being slit while they're awake, then you'd better stop eating ALL meats! I don't care if it's beef, pork, or moose (mmm.... moose...), the way they kill them is a date with a knife. I think some of you sheltereds would be surprised to see that this chicken "injustice" occurs in EVERY fast food restaurant's preparation--- just KFC had some peta hidden camera.

Yes, but throat slitting is a fairly painless form of death, as opposed to stomping.

How do you measure the cruelness of death? Unless they are totally tranqued and sedated they will feel pain and to inflict pain is cruel by definitian. Are you willing to pay $10 a chicken wing or $20 a "single" hamburger, to make sure the animals are killed totally cruelless? I agree they shouldn't stomp the chickens. There is no reason to boycott KFC for this though and eat chicken somewhere else. I'll bet you anything it happens everywhere, and with all animals not just chickens.

That video shows the method of killing chickens for KFC restaurants - basically throw the chicken against the wall, stomp on it, jump on it, kick it in the neck, basically squash the life out of it.

Anyone NOT see anything wrong with that method of killing? - are they saying that smashing live chickens off a wall is the best way to cull them?

I won't eat in KFC because the food is disgusting, the bones are always broken and marrows seeping out onto your chicken is not appetising in the least. I can see why the chicken is so crap in that video - it's been bloody stood on - frankly any company that stomps on the food it sells to it's customers needs to be shut down.

Maybe if we replaced those chickens with cats we'd see a different attitude here.

It's not like stomping on them is *the* way they kill them They dip them in chemicals and scalding hot water. The idiots stomping on the chickens were just doing that for fun.

Nah, I think they were survivors that aren't ready to be plucked, so they kill them their own way - I don't think that was them having fun at all, I think that's their daily work practice. Note how they're all facing away from the wall, often throwing chickens without even looking. The people working there obviously do this every day - if it was for fun, then they'd be watching, not casually stomping on them as if they were an infection of cockroaches.

OK, the throwing on the walls is what they're supposed to do, but they're actually throwing them into those crates. Also, the video explains how they kill them--- by chemicalling then scalding them with hot water. The stomping looked to me like it was an isolated case. Could be wrong, though.

Yes, if the animal has been killed totally painlessly, by one person who has respect for the animal. I'm a vegetarian now, but I'll still eat meat if its ORGANIC. Organic meat is expensive but worth it if you care about animals.

But there's like 5 different people stomping or kicking them, that's what makes me think it's the norm - they looked too worklike when doing it, as if live chickens are just an annoyance and they should all be dead already. That's just the impression I got from the video.

You must be doing quite well for yourself because from my experience most people simply don't have the money to afford free range meat.

About a year ago my family actually started purchasing organic meat, unfortunately, after only a month it became obvious that it was just costing too damn much (organic meat is almost twice as much as regular meat) and we had to go back to the old, cheaper, mass produced meat. Another reason was that the quality of some of the meat was actually quite poor, although I must admit that the leg ham we bought around christmas time had significantly less fat on it, it just didn't taste as good as a regular ham.

Put simply, meat is expensive as it is, and although I like to support free range products as much as possible, organic meat just tears a massive hole in the wallet.

lol kfc chicken and chicken surveys on add down the bottom. anyway i like how they hav ea big cry abou teh chickens beign thrown about, yet they are perfectly fine with chickens being slaughtered so that we may be eaten. and before they go saying "oh well how would you like it if someone tossed you around before killing you", we all know no one on planet Perceii VIII (spelt right?) would give a damn about our rights so shut your vegan hole. If you really don't like the way they are being treated you work a dodgey factory job killing chickens for a measely pay, see if you don't wanna have some fun.

The throat slitting is done when the animal is usually brain dead - they're stunned with a bolt to the skull (a bit like a gun but it fires a retractible bolt into the brain). Cutting the main artery is part of the process, and some would argue that it's done while the animal is alive, but the animal never suffers. Thing is, slaughterhouses have been at the sharp end of animal rights activists and as a result they are fairly humane facilities now - if there's outrage at KFC for the way they produce their chicken, then that can't be a bad thing can it? - if anything it would improve the quality.

There used to be a slaughterhouse in my home town, pretty disgusting place really, the smell was the most memorable part - they had skips at the back right next to a public foot path used by school kids and they were pretty disgusting.

Oh please the animal's gonna die in a few short seconds anyway, who cares?

From wikipedia::
Quote: "Conversely, animal rights groups and some vegetarians prefer to highlight the practices inside a slaughterhouse - in part to expose and correct inhumane treatment of animals where it occurs, but also to encourage people to face up to the reality of meat production, which may lead to more people's choosing a meat-free or reduced-meat diet. Some animal-rights advocates regard the activities performed in slaughterhouses as cruel or unconscionable."

There is nothing wrong in killing these animals for food, just make sure their death is as painless as you can make possible... in that video they made sure their death was as painfull as possible!

Ye, cuz death isn't a good way to make the pain go away. Sheesh, their dead/going to die within minutes..

Once their dead that's it.. who really cares?

I could understand people against the long term torture of animals.. but these chickens were minutes away from death..

I say kill em the cheapest way possible, if that involves feet and walls then so be it.

Anyways, I'm glad I wasn't quoted yet! Awesome.
And what the crap does "eathier" mean?

All animals are food. The trick is, to filter out the ones that taste bad. The best way to do it is to give them to fast food resturaunts !

to those of you who say, "how do you eat a once living thing!", you dont look at your dinner plate and say "yep, im about to eat flesh, kinda like my own flesh come to think of it" Also i meant that PETA is saying that every animal has feelings (even the stupid ones) so who's to say that the oxygen your breathing right now isnt feeling pain? or perhaps some other element is in pain becouse of the human, or as PETA pertrays, the evil, barbaric, unsensitive beast.

One would imagine the lack of pain receptors and a nucleus would create such a feeling quite difficult for those atoms.

I would say so, yes. Tigers and lions definatly kill thier pray with dignity with one pounce and 2 fangs to the throat. (Although they usually resort to hunting the young, old & sick)

And the whole "What's gong on at BK" think isn't that secret...I mean alot of people know that the cows and chikens get fed beef. (Cattle especially)

By obtaining energy it means getting food or nutrients; sources of energy. You're right through, respiration is the process of turning that food into energy.
