The latin one was easy!

The "va" of go can be seen in French and Spanish - and the mecum speaks for itself Nul Exasperantum (or whatever it was) - has something to do with nothing. Can't remember the other two, but if I see them I'll remember how I knew it wasn't them.

The Manolo Bhlanik one was tough. My initial thoughts were Croatia

WWTBAM's a lot more commercialised than when I last watched. WHat's all these text competitions about?

For example the question about the supermarket passageways--- I've never heard of a nave or a transept, and that was one of the easy questions :-P And what is a shuttlecock exactly? Isn't that the real name of the badminton birdie? And fondant fancy? What is that!?

Heheheh.

And I have to give a compliment to the duration between commercials. I'm seriously considering cutting my cable here as you can't watch TV for 5 minutes before a commercial comes on.

Yeah, we've heard that. It seems to be getting worse over here, but I've heard that we are not allowed to show ads like 5 minutes less per hour than in the US. There was an episode of Michael Moore's TV Nation that basically wrapped up, he said goodbye, then stood there for a few secs before carrying on. Basically he said he could use this extra time to show us stuff that the US didn't allow to be broadcast. Fair enough. And you would really like the BBC over here. No ads at all. Well, apart from the odd one for a TV program or some charity type effort. But they are at the end of the program. And they had better never touch the film channels....

Well we call them aisles too, but that was the answer to the question. I only used the word 'passageways' as that was the word they used on the question.

Now I want to look up what a fondant fancy is. It sounds like a fancy fondue.

in the us they don't play ads on the film channels, as funding comes from cable subscriptions..

However, commercials on the main channels are awful:/ They're long, and seem frequent, and half the time they're yelling at you, screaming, or telling you 'not to think about it, just do it'

I've not timed it, but I would say well over 2-3 minutes of commercials every 10 to 15 minutes

Nave and Teansept are parts fo a church. So is an Aisle, but an Aisle is also part of a supermarket

Suttlecock is the thing you hit in badminton.

Fandant Fancy - no idea.

Yes, when I was in America it was literally:

5 mins - main titles roll - adverts

10 mins later - adverts

20 mins later - adverts


etc. 5 lots of adverts for a 1 hour program! The worst we have are ones at 15, 30, and 45 minutes and even then you can skip them with sky+

The BBC is fantastic though, no adverts! You watch a program, think I'll just go nad do something next adverts... and it never appears.

Lets underline that one. Twice. It is not just a charge, but a *very* large charge, for basically a couple of channels (the totally digital ones are crap, lets be fair). And not everyone wants to watch Eastenders. Couple that with the fact that *we have no choice* but to pay the charge. If you own a TV then you have to pay it pretty much. Even if you claim you only plug a console into it. They have detector vans and everything. They may harp on about having the best quality TV in the world, but we pay a f**king fortune for the priviledge. Without any opt out. F**kers....

Although I would forgive them if they could always show football games on a saturday. Like everywhere else does. And I mean they watch *our* football on a saturday. I used to watch it when I worked in Dubai. Was a bit strange with US commentary on one of their sport channels (was expecting Semi-time and add on time multiball ), but hell it was live premiership football on every saturday!!!! Apparently they don't allow it here because it stops people from actually going to the stadiums.

lol, just watched it

as far as how good i would have done from my "arm chair" i knew them all except for the jude one ...adn the latin one i sorta knew(i guessed the last one, D...because i know that "carpe diem" is "sieze the day" and the other two looked wrong...) but i was equally stumped on that shoe designer thing lol...never heard of the guy...

can't believe the easyness of the first three though...(i guess they rely on people second guessing themselves while under the pressure...)

again, good job!
